    I have a Renogy 2000w pure sine wave inverter/charger from 2015. It functions as UPS and backup power.. has NEVER failed to work properly.. Yes. It's heavy.

    Thanks for the comment David, that's very reassuring for anyone thinking of buying one. Do you have it installed in a campervan? Is the 2015 model similar to the current model?

    Thinking of getting one of these. Cuts out having 3-4 extra parts to do the same job... Just to add. The Normal open or Normal closed. Is for the setting up of the primary. You can have Shore Power as Primary or Batteries as Primary. Most people will use Shore Power as Primary. Then when disconnected. it switches to batteries within 10ms...

    How can this be used with a solar panel, it doesn't appear to have solar input or mppt? Also, can it work in a vehicle split charge situation? Again, does that require a seperate dc-dc charger? Not sure I can see too much benefit for the inbuilt charger in these cases, but perhaps I'm missing something!

    Hey Meirion, The inverter charger has two distinct functions. Firstly, the inverter converts DC power from batteries into AC power. Secondly, the battery charger charges the leisure battery when connected to mains hook-up power; they are two very different devices. The inverter charger has no built-in solar MPPT system, so a separate solar MPPT charge controller is required. The inverter charger, solar charge controller, and DC-DC charger connect at the battery, via a busbar. They charge the leisure battery separately from each other. Our system features the inverter charger, a Renogy 60A MPPT solar charge controller, and a 40A DC-DC battery charger. I hope this information answers your questions. Regards, Jolly

    Jolly, great video. I have one of these fitted to solar panels. However it does not operate as described in the Renogy installation videos when connecting upto shore/generator power When the sun is none existent due to the weather I thought I would use a generator. Connected it up in the way it was described. But it does not in fact charge the batteries If I run a generator with the solar panels disconnected. The ac output works fine but it does not charge the batteries. When I have connected it to mains ac or generator I have had to put a 110 transformer in place. Because If i connect up with the 230 volts it just alarms and screams its head off. Even though on the side of the box it does say 230 ac input. Did your unit act in the same way as Renogy shows in its installation video. If you watch it you notice that the on off switch remains in the off position all the time. It does operate the ac with the switch in the off position but does not charge the batteries in any position. Renogy tech support have been worse than useless. Take forever to respond to the case created, and when they eventually did. They never answer the question they just say they are escalating to someone more knowledgeable that never contacts you.

    Hey Kev, We have a video that explains the shore power connection and walks through all the programmable settings related to the Renogy inverter installation. You can check it out at kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJWDqcd6qrrIprw.htmlsi=NhJZ1SFtnp8fNB-y. If you're experiencing an issue where the batteries aren't charging even when an AC input is present, the unit may be set to 'Battery priority' mode. To address this, switch it to 'Utility priority' mode, which will charge the battery and provide AC output power. You can find this option in the program settings under option 01. I apologize for not having an answer to your input voltage issue. Can you provide more information about the LCD panel display when it's alarming? If you need to submit a case to Renogy, provide all the required information, including images and videos, to help them diagnose the issue. In my experience, they've always responded within two days. However, for more technical issues, it may take them an additional day or so to respond. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Best regards, Jolly

    Just trying to set my battery charge settings for lithium on program 5 and using the keys to program. It opens at b-1 and I cant seem to get the menu to select the lithium setting shown on the chart. Works fine otherwise. Looking for tips. Can the unit be in use? it must be on of course...but the instructions arent really clear on details.

    OK got it, you tap the arrow key till the display flashes, then the up/down arrow keys will change the display through the menu to the desired setting, b-L for lithium. Then you hold the arrow key again and it selects that choice. I mostly charge with solar but just wanted it set to the correct battery type. Its a solid inverter and the Ren, 2000 IMO is more solid than the AIMS 2500 which I had and crapped out on me, never worked right and chattered and had no low battery cut-out. I called them during warrantee period and no luck, they stonewalled me. Hopefully Renogy is good! I cant afford an Outback!

    We bought the 3000w version just because it wasn’t that much more £ than the 2000w & thought might be handy in future……. Problem we have is the power cables, says to use 4/0aw /125mm2 which are mega big wires! I noticed you was going to use a smaller size to the recommended. Does this mean we could use say 3/0 or 2/0 cables?

  • @vandercampadventures

    @vandercampadventures

    11 ай бұрын

    Hey Mummyofangels, Cables should be designed to carry the maximum load of the unit which is why the recommended cable size is so big. However, the cable size you install must be sufficient for its usage. For example, we will never use more than 1500w at one time so have designed the cable size to reflect that instead of the maximum load of 2000w. Therefore, yes, you can install a different cable to what's recommended as long as it's fit for purpose. We have an in depth Inverter Charger Installation video with more information about cable sizes. Also, a blog post (coming shortly) that helps with cable sizing. Stay safe! Regards, Jolly 🤘

    Is this brand neurally bonded with earth and compatible with a tesla mobile charger?.. doing spme research before setting up a system?

    Hey Wesley, thanks for getting in touch. The inverter charger is not neutral to earth bonded on the AC output. However, I've designed a way to N-E bond it. Take a look at my installation video - part 2 where I explain it in detail. I can't comment on the Tesla mobile charger as I don't have sufficient knowledge but would be happy to take a look for you. Go to my consultancy page where I can provide more information and a wiring diagram if you need. Heres the link - vandercampadventures.com/renogy-inverter-charger-installation/ Regards, Jolly

    Have you looked into travel kettles or caravan kettles? There not as fast or as big as a 'standard' kettle but they're low wattage. This one for example is rated at 650 Watts - shop.caravanclub.co.uk/product/1998564/swiss-luxx-1ltr-low-wattage-kettle-ssteel

    @@vandercampadventures I have one, I was harder than going to Target and buying the cheapest I could find, and it's not the only appliance. I can't just take one from the house, and I have to consider combinations of appliances I might run simultaneously. Standard powerboards here are rated for 10A at 240V.
