I'm curious as to how you think that would be possible? Here's some wage info from ChatGPT. As of my last update in January 2022, the hourly wages for auto factory workers in the US and China varied significantly due to differences in labor laws, cost of living, and other factors. Here's a general comparison based on data available at that time: United States: - Hourly wages for auto factory workers in the US typically ranged from , depending on factors such as experience, location, and collective bargaining agreements. - In some cases, skilled workers or those with specialized roles could earn even higher wages, potentially exceeding $30 per hour. - Additionally, auto workers in the US often receive benefits such as healthcare, retirement contributions, and paid time off, which contribute to the overall compensation package. China: - Hourly wages for auto factory workers in China tended to be lower compared to the US, with rates ranging from approximately - However, it's important to note that wages can vary significantly depending on the region within China, with coastal areas generally offering higher wages compared to inland regions. - While Chinese auto factory workers may receive benefits such as healthcare and social insurance, these benefits might not be as extensive or comprehensive as those provided to workers in the US. It's essential to consider that these figures are approximate and can vary based on various factors such as the specific company, industry conditions, and economic changes over time. Additionally, labor costs in China have been increasing gradually due to factors such as rising living standards and labor shortages in some regions.

The problem is that the Chinese controls most of the rare earth metals and minerals needed to produce batteries. They started buying the rights to these raw materials back in the early 2000s, and by now they have almost full control.

@@karlf.karlsen4365Meh.. to actually get to like 50%+ market share, there needs to be new mines and new processing facilities opened to make those minerals. And there is a lot of planned capacity to be added in USA, Europe, Australia, etc. It also seems like the usage of rare earths is decreasing. LFP is becoming more popular, and there's not much rare minerals other than lithium.. and China doesn't actually have the lithium extraction in China. For motors, EV makers are finding ways to use less and less neodymium. You can make the motor completely without it, although they're less efficient at low speed.

It's pretty great. Heavily targeted at certain demographics as one can tell from the size of the rear seat, but there's nothing wrong with that. Very clever. The real news is that Western manufacturers are starting to target outside of the high end market. It's fantastic news. That said, I always got the impression that 2025 would be the year that price parity would start being pursued. This is even a little early. In the U.K. the second hand market is plummeting. EVs are cheaper than ICE. I just checked on Autotrader and you can get a 2020 Audi e-tron with 21315 miles on the clock for £18498. The reason is there are no minimal tax, salary sacrifice schemes on used EVs. In contrast as a leased company car an Audi e-tron is deemed to have a "benefit in kind" of £29 a month.

@@harshadagashe The thing your comment immediately reveals is that you haven't ever watched another episode of The Fully Charged Show which has been going for 14 years with well over 1,000 episodes many of which have not only mentioned the issues around materials we all rely on to make the things we use, in depth, including the appalling issue of children working in copper and cobalt mines in the DRC. So let's just get a few FACTS into the discussion rather than something you read on some weird right wing pro fossil fuel forum. There are still a small number of children working in artisanal mining in the DRC, it is illegal and the authorities there have done a great deal to reduce the amount of kids working in these unsafe mines. What they dig up makes up less than 1% of global cobalt supplies. Now, today, one of the biggest consumers of cobalt is, and you will hate this but it is true, verified by multiple government and corporate research bodies, the oil industry. Your oil industry that you love and support uses cobalt in very large quantities to remove sulphur from diesel and petrol as part of the refining process. It's used to make oil slightly less toxic. The material fossil heads love to whine on and on about is used to refine OIL Have you heard of LFP batteries? No, of course not. Well, they contain NO cobalt, zero. None. They are now being used in over 50% of new electric cars, trucks, busses, vans etc. No cobalt. There are another 3 or 4 new battery chemistries being introduced commercially, NONE of them use any cobalt. There is more cobalt in the device you used to post your really boring, dated comment than in a new electric car. Cobalt is used to make stainless steel. We use a large amount of it in millions of products, none of which are electric cars. But you've been told 'say the cobalt is mined by children' and that will stop people buying electric cars. Well it isn't, it won't and bad luck sunshine, you are wrong. It's you and your oil burning pals who are using a material that is dug up by children. It's a disgrace, I hope you feel all holier than thou now, with your cobalt consuming fossil fuel that you can only use once.

The technology side of things with V2L/V2H, Plug&Charge, one pedal driving, heat pump, possibility to tow a trailer,… seems also excellent !!! However, it is quite sad that they made some very dumb mistakes (no legroom in backseats, difficulty to step your feet below the front seats, ugly designed and inconvenient central and multimedia console, 3 commodos on the right side prone to mistakes,… The Citroën ë-C3 interior design seems much cleaner and much more practical on a daily basis…. Looks interesting but speaking as a Danish guy IDK if this is really gonna catch on, at least here. Like the design, many Danes would definitely use the word "tacky" to describe it, like its trying to pop and not everything in its design really works for that. Danes generally like minimalistic designs and in many cases French design sensibilities like those on the Renault 5 are complete opposites of those in foreign markets. One of the most consistently succesful cars in Denmark over the last few years have been the Renault 208 and I think the design definitely plays a part in that, even if a lot of Danes find the "Tiger tooth" lights to be tacky, its just a smaller element of an otherwise very minimalist car. Also one thing many are itching for here is an electric microcar, which has yet to hit the market around here. The closest we got was the Dacia Spring but that was taken off the Danish market after a very short time due to, and I quote, "Appalling quality", and the refreshed Dacia Spring won't be imported either as reporters have come back claiming the same issues as on the old model. Like what people want is an electric car equivalent to a Citroen C1, Peugeot 108, Kia Picanto, Suzuki Alto, VW Up! or Toyota Aygo, at a sub- £15.000 price tag and options for no infotainment or digital integration required. Simply plug and play with no software updates needed. Those are the breaking points for many consumers here. Simply put Danish consumers won't like all the extra gimmicky add-ons in this car that drive up the price and want a simple EV with no frills. Probably part of the reason why the VW eUp and Seat Mii were somewhat popular here back when they were still being sold.
