No timeline was announced, it will be based on their factory in GAs timing.

These look like European 70's / 80's cars, but with an American "I don't care, just make it bigger" take on them.

I love what they're doing with the rear windows on the R2 and the fold flat seats.

Very impressed by Ricky's ability to keep the presentation going amidst all those people but also kudos to the editor for putting transitions where people likely walk into the frame for a very informative video. Thumbs up guys

The R3X reminds me of an '80s rally car, I hope it's really capable/fun off road. Maybe an R4 can be a "CUV" that's really just a lifted estate car and boxy with a large trunk space like an old Volvo estate. My OCD still want to turn all the headlights 90 degrees though, otherwise great styling! R2 seems like a good Bronco/4d Wrangler rival. An R2T would be amazing, a true small extended (not crew) cab electric pickup that's off road capable and somewhat affordable (we are talking BEVs here!).

buy the way I am an amateur astronomer and love the Star Wars movies, I have recently heard that a planet with 2 suns is quite plausible, as half the stars in the universe are in fact double or triple! It is quite reassuring to know that Luke was not hallucinating, and that there is even more chance for intelligent life to evolve, let's hope is is more intelligent than some of our leaders.

Like the R3X profile, mixed color schemes, offroad lifestyle possibilities. Timing, pricing, range, useful features. One, two, three motors for 4WD vs AWD, V2G/V2L, selectable ride options depending on terrain, roof rack gear and camping options.

One of the key things for my family, on the R3 - is rear seat leg and head room. I am looking forward to learning more about the R3!

Idk, the R2 is pretty cool but in that price range, 55k and up, I have a ton of options. And frankly, I don't think I'd opt for a rivian. I'd rather buy that cheap Ford Maverick for 25k if it was available here in Europe. If I spend 55k on a car Idc about gas prices anyways, but in reality I'll probably buy a fully specced Dacia hybrid for 27k and put the other 30k towards hobbies, holidays, mortgage, stocks... Car prices have really gotten out of hand.

R3s looks awesome

Excellent work, impressive professionalism and you handled the other folk with good grace.

What came next was actually to design and build a load of delivery vans for Amazon etc.

I currently have a 2020 Model Y and I put down a reservation for an R2. I think subjectively the R3 looks better but IMO the R2 is a dang sharp looking truck and ultimately it's the better fit for my life. My partner really wants an R3. I carry around lots of cargo in my Model Y and even tow with it sometimes. I carry around so much cargo that I generally just leave the back seats down most of the time. Great coverage from Ricky. Please keep up the great work FGS team!

@@MrJimheeren Interesting. I live in France and I don't see people buying these, or at least not at a high volume. People that can afford these types of cars would go Tesla all day, just because it is a strong statement. Cheap chinese EVs will sell like hot cakes tho. Long way to go before Rivian gets the Prestige label. Of course, That would apply to Spain and Italy too. Of course if you live in the UK or Germany is is a different matter.

The driver’s seat? Because that’s the big deal here. You can use the entire length from the dash to hatch for 2-person car camping. The PT Cruiser even had a fold flat front passenger seat. It’s a cool feature, for sure. Great way to get those longer items home from the big box store.

Love the overall designs, cant get over the goofy looking lights thoough 😢. I'd buy the R3X in a heartbeat if they changed that one element. Maybe it's just me.

I'd love to see the rear windshield wiper hidden underneath the spoiler on the R3..

R2 is my top pick from this trio... I especially like the fully flat seating option for camping, or just for parking and lounging.

I don't think so, I saw on another youtube channel featuring this car that the screen can go to a all red monochrome mode (camping mode if I recall correctly), thus dimming the screen and making it less harsh to the eyes, letting you sleep easier inside the cabin while the car is on.

It really should be on the driver's side. They literally put it as far as humanly possible away from the person who is usually the one fueling up, and there's no reason for that

@@gormauslander Nissan has the right idea, putting it front and center. Most charging pods are right at the end of a parking space, and it's only going to get more that way as places like restaurants and hotels install them into their existing parking lots to juice up business.

VW have offered a flat-folding front passenger backrest on the Tiguan. Don’t know if they still do and I don’t know why other manufacturers haven’t. Seems very practical for transporting long items while keeping up to 3 or 4 (if 3 rows) seats.

Looks like a Yugo/Golf Mk 1 hybrid. I think if you asked ChatGPT to design a car combining the two this is what it would come up with.

@@paulholterhaus7084 the R3 is fine, its low enough. fortnine (a motorcycle channel) explained it really well. basically flat tall car fronts, especially in Electric vehicles are 100% aesthetic choice (fashion) by designers, not necessity. they lower visibility for the driver and, because they are much more efficient in transfering the energy, mass and speed, of the vehicle into a pedestrian during an impact, have a much higher statistic for fatalities compared to a lower hood, which tend to instead "merely" break legs and flip people onto the hood. High fronts also force impacted people to go under the vehicle instead of onto the hood.

The R3X is a beauty, my favourite of the 3 shown.

I really wish a lot of small European cars had the front foldable passenger seat. There have been some, but in very limited markets usually

The R3 would be fine on British roads, if the steering wheel was on the right side, and if it had a European CCS connector with at least 22 kW 3-phase AC recharging.

@arubial1229 2 motors in the rear and 1 in thr front. I'm assuming the 2 are independent hub motors and the 1 in front has an LSD. That thing should rip down dirt roads

I'd love to see an R3 ute (i.e. two-seater mini pickup) option.

i really wish they were coming out with the R3 first. I think going with a more drastic change from the R1 would draw more people to them then just a slightly smaller R1s

Rivian HAD to hit it out of the park with the R2, which IMO I think they did, but surprising us with the R3 was a brilliant move. Smart move switching production of the R2 to the Normal, IL, plant, as that saves them $2.25 billion. Hopefully that will be enough to keep Rivian going until the R2 production starts--assuming it does, the R2 and R3 should solidify Rivian moving forward. Way to go, Rivian, and great video report!

R3 looks like a Fiat Ritmo from the '80. But in a good way. That blue is so similar to the one very common on the Ritmo.

GREAT job!!! You forgot to mention that if the price of the R2 is comparable to the Model Y then not only are you getting more space but you’re also getting a MUCH NICER interior .. I personally don’t mind Tesla’s overly simply design language BUT I wish that the materials were just nicer throughout .. also worth noting the current Model Y Performance goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds (VERY fun car to drive) however the R2 will have sub 3 second 0-60! If they can make enough they will easily outsell the Model Y but to be fair Tesla will just drop prices to continue to capture market share if Rivian ever scales up enough to compete with the Model Y
