Renaissance Live at Carnegie Hall Carpet Of The Sun, Mother Russia, Running Hard
Музыка
Live at Carnegie Hall by Renaissance band is one of finest progressive rock albums of the Seventies. Young and beautiful Annie Haslam has an exquisite, five-octave-range voice. Song favorites are Carpet Of The Sun, Mother Russia (3:30), and Running Hard (13:25). The British band's 1976 live double album was not filmed. The superior audio tracks with lush orchestral arrangements are synced with video of the five-piece band only from BBC Sight and Sound 1977. This video tribute is dedicated to Renaissance fans worldwide.
Renaissance "classic line-up" band members are Annie Haslam - lead vocals; Michael Dunford - acoustic guitars, electric guitar; John Tout - keyboards; Jon Camp - bass, backing vocals; Terence Sullivan - drums, backing vocals. Additional musicians on Live from Carnegie Hall are New York Philharmonic Orchestra and choir with Tony Cox, orchestra conductor.

I saw Renaissance In the 1970's at Robin Hood Dell West, an outdoor venue outside of Philadelphia. When Annie starts singing her voice puts a spell on you! All you want to do is hear more from her! What is amazing is that the group still performs today in 2023. Annie settled in Bucks County Pennsylvania, another suburb of Philadelphia, and has lived there since the 1990's.
A voice in a million backed by masters of their instruments. They don't make music like this anymore. I'm blown away every time I listen.
Annie has an amazing voice. Underrated. She and Renaissance one day might see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Worthy of it.
This is so good. Just love Annie's voice and the Rick sound of Jon Camp! What a band!!!❤
I saw them at Carnagie Hall in the 70's but don't remember the year. But the show I was at that absolutely blew me away was when they played Red Rocks in 76 or 77. I had my camera and telephoto and got some great picks from about the 12th row.
Renaissance Live at Carnegie Hall is one of the greatest live albums l ever heard l never got to see them in the 70’s but many years later they played a small venue in Orlando Florida Annie Haslam loves her fans because they cancelled the show because Annie had back surgery but the venue told me to hang onto my ticket because they are rescheduling the show and she came back and performed the show some artist’s would have blown off the show and would have done other dates but not Annie she didn’t want to let the fans down you have to give her a lot of respect for doing that she also e-mail a fan thanking him for his praise for her music she is one of a kind a class act through and through Sadly Michael Dunsford passed on before this show came up we will all miss Michael very much RIP Michael

The Carnegie Hall Show wasn’t filmed. This is the Sight and Sound broadcast film from 1977 combined with the audio from Carnegie Hall in 1975. I wish Carnegie Hall had been filmed . Any Renaissance fan does!

I don't know Renaissance intellectual and cool band about another band! because important band for me. this stop! see you again next day# this is 森川/Japan thank you# over-
I saw them several times back in the 70's. Annie has one of the most amazing voices ever, and the band was so far ahead of its time bringing so many young rockers into progressive classical rock. Absolute perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hadn't ever seen this band. I live in Russia. But I love that music and those musicians. I like to call it art rock. And Renaissance is undoubtedly one of the most beloved bands. Their music and Annie's voice make me cry with happiness.

This band is uniquely talented.
In 1991, I bought a Renaissance original sound track. I have an LP in my hand right now, but I don't have a turntable. So I'm listening on KZread. Even listening to KZread, the beautiful melody and overwhelming impressions still remain.

I saw them several times with this lineup, and this music. Very talented group, nice people too. RIP John Tout and Michael Dunford
This was the only group I ever saw at Carnegie Hall. I'm so glad I had the privilege of seeing them there & with dead center 4th row seats. Perfect sound was a total treat .
Running Hard off of Carnegie Hall is so delightful! Listening to this song again brings magic back into my life.
Oh, to be able to sing like her. Beautiful , beautiful voice.
I’ve seen Renaissance twice in the past 10 years or so; would’ve loved to see them back in their prime, and with Jon Camp. Annie… beautiful voice, beautiful woman. There should’ve been more Prog bands with female vocalists; it works so well.

Right? They're the best!
Renaissance was/is one of my fave progressive bands.
if they came out now, they'd be huge
Nice job syncing the BBC performance footage with the audio from the Live at Carnegie Hall album. It really works quite well. Thank you!
Saw them in an ice skating rink in Phoenix in the early 80"s. No more than 400 in attendance. Yes, Annie has voice that besides her can only be heard in heaven.
The dynamic musical break starting at about 15:00 is actual melodies from Maurice Jarre's score from the film Doctor Zhivago. I am certain they had permission because it was never challenged and it is incorporated so well into their music. Chillingly beautiful. Jarre would be proud.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this band many times over the years. Always calming and enchanting. Plus having an angel singing always added to the brilliance .
Wow! Video of a track I've seen only in my head since 1977.
Gold in the voice- magic and all of it live- magic

Very nice job on syncing a video from one live performance with the audio from another live performance. I saw Renaissance in the mid 70s while they toured with Yes. Phenomenal event. Became a lifelong fan of both bands because of that show.

0:00 Carpet of The Sun 3:30 Mother Russia 13:23 Running Hard
This song, Carpet of the Sun, is so special to me. I had some try out to play on acoustic guitar and sing the song at same time. My voice does not reach the Soprano level Annie's does.
It's not surprising I once heard in a long interview with Jon Anderson (YES, etc...) say his favourite singer is Annie. And it's reciprocal, as évidenced by her stunning solo cover of "Turn of the Century" :)
It's so nice to watch Carnegie Hall Live after only listening to the album all these years!
A quiet and very precious moment. Love from Switzerland.

Video💙Wow
The actual footage is from their concert at the BBC in 1977, not the Carnegie Hall where it feature orchestral accompaniment. A real shame, since I thought there would be an actual filming of the famous concerts they gave there and which resulted in their famous double live album.

If you had bothered to read the credits at the end .. it is a montage of 2 separate gigs with some audio trickery and tempo bending. Never mind, Annie’s singing is indescribably beautiful and that is all that matters.
I did my best attempt at playing this on guitar (wishfully thinking it was an Ovation Guitar though it was only an Alverez) and singing at the same time.
Love them. Is this video really from the Carnegie Hall concert? Annie herself has said she regrets there was no video taken of it.

Yeah, just a teeny bit out of synch in a couple of places. Still an amazing vid!
My only objection to this video is that the intro to Running Hard got cut.
Maybe video/audio editors meshed live with studio because some parts do seem live but others are clearly not.
how hard is it to sing with the timings going on
Popular music was so much better before over-production and auto-tune ruined it.

@dianequick3127

@@clintmaffett2570 This is a reasonable question. The administrations in Russia are very careful about which bands they allow to perform in their Country. It is not in distaste to the music though. I can see why Mother Russia is probably one of which has to wait. It is rather difficult to explain. Though, to make you aware, the first band allowed to perform in Russia, Red Square to be exact, was none other than the Beatles and the Russians LOVED the performance. This was under Putin's Administration.
I'm a huge Renaissance fan, listen to their music frequently, but this sounds like the studio versions of the songs to me (which I am very familiar with) and not a live performance. Plus, the video is out-of-sync at several points if you watch carefully the piano and drum performances. Plus, near the end of Mother Russia, Annie's lip sync is obviously off near the last couple of notes. I wish whoever posts videos would be honest and not make people believe they are watching an actual live performance when it is live video playing along with the studio recordings.
@BlueSandLive

There is no deception. The video and description clearly state the video and audio are different. Naturally, there are some out-of-sync sections where Annie and the band didn't play those two performances exactly the same.

@@BlueSandLive My apologies to the posters of this video-I did not read the description (usually just listen)-but I've seen many "live" videos posted that have no such disclaimers.
