I’m in tears watching this! First saw them open for the Strawbs at the Tower Theater and was hooked..saw every show they did in Philadelphia after that. Amazing, beautiful shows…. Wonderful memories of seeing them and following them for years. Met Annie at a TV studio show that was aired on PBS, I think I was the only girl in that audience. She was funny and so sweet. Incredible.. great video and sound compared to all others I've seen. I love watching Jon Camp on bass.. From an interview with Jon : "I spent a lot of time with Stanley Clarke and he can knock spots off me, but once we were sitting on a plane and he said to me, "I might be faster than you, but I could never be as melodic as you." I thought that was really nice and we had a wonderful time together."
Annie had such a different set of moves on stage that are signature to her performance . I especially like how she often had her hands on her hips as she would dance around the stage when it was not time for her to sing. Love that move.

@@beatlesrgear What's your opinion of Gerry McAvoy?
@gordonsmith7065
@@beatlesrgear Couldn't agree more. Camp played bass like a lead guitar, and what he did required a lot of talent, I think. The late Jon Tout, the pianist in this video, was also sorely underappreciated. He was perhaps the most accomplished pianist of 70s rock, yet he never received the acclaim he deserved. Renaissance was such a talented band -- and of course the voice of Annie Haslam was perhaps the biggest marvel of them all. Those lyrics (most of them written by a putatively reclusive poet named Betty Thatcher) were not that strong, but it didn't really matter. This video takes me back to the 70s, and my love for Renaissance.
This video demonstrates that was not only Annie Haslam a great singer, she ALSO loved the music, that progressive rock groove that Renaissance were pioneers of.

I had tickets to see Renaissance at the Beverly Theater in Beverly Hills circa 1983. My girlfriend and I were deep in the Ren. My parents dropped us off after a wonderful dinner nearby, and we arrived at the theatre, only to discover: the show was cancelled! Someone in the band had an issue with their United States visa. Instead of attending the concert of our dreams, we walked around Rodeo Drive for 3 hours until my parents picked us up as planned. (Maybe if Android phones were available back then...) Still, a major disappointment to this day. "I'm on a flight and it's taking me closer, home to a heart that's been left for so long." Flash forward to 2021, I've been married to my college sweetheart forever, and she bears a fair resemblance to Annie Haslam. Of course, we too are both deep in the Ren.

I was lucky enough to see Renaissance here on Long island, New York, in 197 3 or 1974. Hearing Annie's voice confirmed my belief in God.

"Hearing Annie's voice confirmed my belief in God" I wish Annie could see your comment .. can't imagine one more complimentary. If there are angels, and if they can sing, they can only hope to be as pure and note perfect as Annie Haslam.
Ashes Are Burning: One of my Top Ten Desert Island Discs! Prog-folk brilliance.
mrs. haslam has/is one (of) the best female voice in rock n roll history!
How I remember listening to this "type" of music, as well as, YES and GENESIS. Miss it much! Reminds me us the Trans-Siberian Orchestra too.
Faiport Convention with Sandy Denny opened the show in NYC in 1974 with Renaissance headlining, accompanied by a 21 piece orchestra. Pure magic. I’d give a body part to go back and see that show again.

Which body part would you give for a UHD Blu-Ray of that concert?

I saw these guys around 1975, maybe 76, in Toronto. I have all their albums, including the old ones before Annie. What a great bunch of musicians. They may not be household names like the Beatles or the Stones, but my God were they talented. I still dig out the albums once in a while. Incredible stuff. Running Hard is still one of my favourites.
Fantastic band & Annie( omg)❤️
What a voice.
This was the first Renaissance song i heard and absolutely fell in love with it! Such a beautiful song and band. Annie made this band even more beautiful 😁 soo underrated
One of the top 5 bands of all time. Annie is just magical. They are truely timeless.

This was one of my first progressive favorites back in those high school years. Still enjoy hearing them ! Thanks for posting !
Qualidade que não dá para mensurar. Cresci ouvindo Renaissance, Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin , e muitos outros.

1976 was the year I first saw them at 20 opening for Gentle Giant, but it was always this song with her first notes that melted my soul into puddy and the vision of her young beautiful image on stage. And this the time of my life when every moment was either before or after and ACID experience. The entire decade was a beautiful dream of being in college and IN THE PRIME OF MY HAPPY YOUTH & Progressive music was my soundtrack, so this heavenly sound cut very deeply into my heart!
Outstanding Music, Great Performance!! I miss all them!!!
Ooh....what we're missing now, this was wonderful and 'still is '47 years later, I'm so glad I was around for the best ever time for music.
I saw Renaissance in the 70's in Chicago. The opening act was Al Di Meola. What a night to remember!
A banda dispensa comentários, excelente!
He is on that Ricky Bass with the Rotosound strings..... because of Chris and Mike..... 1974 .. what a great time for power Bass in the early Prog era...
How the hell did i spend all my life without listening this band
Saw Renneisance live back in 1990's @ The Bottom Line In NYC. Annie Haslams vocal range reaches to angelic realms! An epic performance from yet another 70's Rock treasure!
