A full analysis on the music video for Pt. 1: The kidnapped individual was a 'defendant' in a 'trial' with the psychotic Ren accusing him and acting as Judge/Jury/Executioner. Ren's character, through the song, goes on to explain the individual's crime: being part of a money game - a twisted game where people are divided and suffering for the sake of wealth. People who are willing to exploit their peers get ahead, and other are forced to do bad things for survival. Each time he gets close to exacting punishment and killing his victim, he stops to continue explaining more ways we twist our lives for that wealth. He even symbolically draws eyes on the head sack to signify that the victim isn't blind to it: the captor has 'opened his eyes'. He has no excuse and deserves this punishment of death. Finally, with one final attempt to do the deed, Ren's character realized the futility of what he's doing. Looking in the mirror, as per the lyrics, he is also part of the money game. And so, he puts aside his holier attitude and burns himself to death instead. As he said, as assuredly as the whole world turns while playing this game, the whole world burns as well. FYI, in a recent interview Ren's camera man told that it took 186 one take attempts to complete this video! Another Ren one take video. No editing, no cuts, no sound overs or auto tune. I FEEL you! My dad was from eastern Europe. He spoke 7 languages. He didn't teach his children any of them because he wanted us to be "American", but Americans are from EVERYWHERE. I sorely wish he taught us Russian, Ukrainian, French, German, Yiddish, and Polish, but all he'd speak around his children was English. All of us are immigrants, indeed!

it's subjective of course, but I think they were the same person. Ren looked kind of confused when he said "Stop", and it worked. But he didn't figure it out (see) until he gave him(self) eyes. And then walked towards the immolation with a look of defeat.

The majority of Ren's songs ( they are more than songs ) are written around metaphors and allegories. My take on this masterpiece is : the hooded person on the chair, playing the guitar, is symbolic of " the system ". Ren is blaming that system for all the sins it has created ( ie : greed / internal hatred / racism etc. ) and he is intent upon destroying it. Right at the moment when he is about to pour the gasoline on the system, he realises ; he is part of the whole " money game " so he is just as guilty as anyone else. We are all responsible for acquiescing to the problem, so he administer's " justice " upon himself ..... that is how I see it, anyway ..... and I am certain others will have their own interpretation. Ren, himself, LOVES these reaction video's as he likes to see how people read his art. You two are great reactors. Peace, joy and love to you both. Pete 🙏

Loved this. You really need to do part 2 next. Oh, his mother did Drama/Therapy. Maybe where he got his dramatic flair.

I think there's 2 main possibilities for the meaning of the ending of this video. Firstly, self-immolation, as a form of protest, has been around for millennia. A famous example being that Buddhist monk, who set himself on fire, in a busy Saigon street, to protest against the US puppet government of South Vietnam. Second, he's merely following the logical outcome of, "we're all part of this old money game". Especially when he's also talked about people always wanting to blame others rather than themselves.

My little grandson is half mexican and lives in mexico , i so hope he never suffers for it .we dont care what nationality he is . He was born in the uk . We are a small world now and should just love each other ❤

I remember seeing the photo several times of the monk who sat in lotus position and torched himself in 1963 and sat that way until he burned alive in protest, it set off a string of events w other monks doing the same so i looked it up to get his name again. Its a very famous photo... "An elderly monk called Thich Quang Duc sat down in the lotus position, crossing his legs. Some other monks poured petrol over him and then he set himself on fire and burned to death while sitting in this position. ' It was an act of protest over discrimination towards Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government." I believe this is what Ren is showing here, his protest against the government.

I think in the video, ren is the system, the bag is the faceless masses, the employees, and when the system puts a face to them, (ideally) it becomes less detached and more aware of the guilt it SHOULD feel so instead of burning down the masses, the system goes to burn itself down. I could be way off. But thats one perspective i personally saw in it.

My interpretation is that the moneysack man in the chair made to play with no freedom represents society. Opening their eyes is the core of the message, and choosing to self immolate instead of destroying the whole society is the punch line. Self immolation is a form of protest that aims to spread awareness of how dire a situation is.
