che meraviglia...ascoltata e applaudita a Roma nei Vier letzte Lieder con Pappano...qui va oltre... e a nozze con un autore che si è cucita addosso con un grande lavoro anche sulla dizione tedesca...chapeau...ascoltata anche con Abbado e Muti...credo qui sia all'apice della sua arte....troppo saggia per sprecare questa occasione...Unica.qui in questo festival dove le americane si sono sempre fatte onore......penso ;la von Stade, la Verret, su tutte la Norman da cui lei ha assorbito il rigore stilistico...quindi doppiamente brava...poichè ha a disposizione una voce più corta.Quindi da vera artista usa l'intelligenza e mette alchimia nella sua fonazione in maniera esatta ... e in questo l'aiuta la sua cultura della conoscenza dei song americani...che rinnova l'interesse per queste...partiture veramente ...sfolgoranti. Chapeau...anche ad un orchestra sugli scudi con Thielemann... grazie ha chi ha postato questo gioiello....

What beautiful cooperation between orchestra and voice. Her voice always rich and strong and golden and lush strings and brass. Perfect!

Fleming´s voice is tailor-made for Strauss. Rich in tone, expressive in any way - glorious!

What glorious music making: could it be otherwise with the Vienna Phil, Thielemann and Renee in glorious voice. Apparently she need not fear the encroaching years with the vocal resources she displayed here. Befreit was utterly hearbreaking. .

Wonderful, beautiful, glorious Renée!! She is a treasure!!!

Renee Fleming is a gift from G-d to the world!!! She is just an angel!!!

Stunning

Phenomenal rendition on all levels, and not surprisingly, the hymn to Apollo stands out musically. What a radiant piece, like its contemporaneous Zarathustra! Iphigenia Phleming's voice is simply divine, and it's interesting to compare this version with Karita Mattila/Claudio Abbado's, without naming the winner. Just enjoying various rays of this joyful magnificent sun.

Trotz Thielemann bringt Fleming dank des hervorragend spielenden Orchesters eine meisterliche Leistung zustande.

Wie darf man es verstehen „trotz Thielemann“ ? Etwas nicht in Ordnung mit ihm oder seiner Art die Wiener Philharmoniker zu führen ?

ich liebe Flemming.....ich liiiiiiiiebe Richard Strauss.....ein tolles Orchester...ich schätze Thielemann. finde aber das Arabella zu gehetzt war.....gerade der Monolog am Ende des 1. Aktes von "Arabella" ist soooo zart und innig und da macht er viel zu schnelle Tempi und das Orchester ist leider viel zu laut.....das ist sehr schade....ansonsten ein absoluter Hochgenuss....danke für´s Posten ....p.s. für mich immer noch unerreicht und das " non plus ultra " als "Arabella" ist und war "Lisa della Casa."....

eine fantastische Stimme für Strauss! Soviel Glanz in der Höhe, da geht man fast in die Knie! ABER: Im Ausdruck beweist sie nicht viel Geschmack, zu amerikanisch kitschig. Auch sprachlich zwar gut aber nicht wie eine Muttersprachlerin. Da ist Jessye Norman eine ganz andere klasse. Viele i s und e s zu hell, auch wie sie die Bruststimme einsetzt ist nicht schön, zu wenig gemischt mit der Kopfstimme und darum total fremd im Klang, dies vorallem bei den Liedern, bei den Opernausschnitten stört es weniger.

Baloney!!! Of course Renée doesn’t sound like a “Native speaker”!!! She isn’t one! This fact, however, doesn’t change the GLORIOUS sound Renée produces!!!

Schwartzkopf............sets the standard. Fleming is a good emotionall singer, but the finely crafted interpretiveness of Schwartzkopf, for one, eludes her. It's all great singing and heart-feltness, but the depth and subtlety is just not there.

Her tendency towards jazzy mewing, so irritating in other repertoire, for some reason does not mar her Strauss singing.
