This song should be part of every school curriculum because of the values it holds in teaching youth about the pitfalls and pressures in society and the insecurities that start at a young age for all genders! I love Ren for writing lyrics and music with substance! Thanks Anthony for your enlightening reactions and your continued support of Ren ❤❤

I imagine, especially in the US, that astroturfed 'grassroots' parents groups, funded by corporate money, would start agitating to shut this down pretty damn quick. The whole idea of advertising is to indoctrinate people into a consumer mindset as young as possible. Anything which threatens to educate children on the dangers of competitive consumption, is dangerous to their bottom line, and must be suppressed. Children, and teens, especially, have the most disposable income of any demographic, and are easy to train in instant gratification and FOMO. When you add the toxic effect of social media 'influencers' and curated Instagram, perfect lives, it's amazing there is not more depression and teen suicide.

I think that THIS is one of his MORE important songs. Everyone should hear it. Personally, I appreciate the way you do things. You let it play through, showing respect. Then on the second play, you break things down. THAT is when, you become the teacher and I the student. Thank you so much. I have learned A LOT.

this song is SO underrated and i'm beyond thrilled that you reacted to it!! It's one of my favourite songs of all time, from any artist. It's incredibly powerful, and I think that every single person in the world needs to hear it - society would be a kinder place x [EDIT: i also recommend finding the version of him busking and playing this song - you feel his emotion more strongly in it, it's incredibly powerful]

Ren's little video on dealing with "haters" on social media, makes similar points about how we are not made to deal with all the opinions that are incoming on social media to people like him and you. Before sm, artists were pretty much shielded from all that. It came be damaging if you are not able to handle it. A lot to deal with.

Almost exactly a week before my mom passed unexpectedly (new years eve 2022 just 64 years old) my parents, my teenage son and myself played dominoes and she was crowned ‘world champion’ after winning 3 of 4 games and that when I think of her, that night is what my mind first goes to (not watching her die as we waited for the ambulance) and I wrote her obituary just hours after her death because I needed to do something, anything. I put the dominoes story in it and we had so many mourners that told us that reading her obit they had an even better sense of who she was as a person. I held off listening to this song once I first came across it and while I know it’s not a literal game of dominoes, I couldn’t help making the connection because two nights ago we played dominoes for the first time without her. She fell, hit her head and help arrived too late. It happened in my home. I’m a hospice social worker and I have totally changed my outlook of how I interact with others going through grief. Super long comment I know so I apologize.

  • @cheetara32

This is one of my favourite Ren tracks and everyone should hear it and start to really understand what is happening to us all and how we just let it happen and perpetuate it. This is why Ren is so important... He writes this in a way we can all empathise with. He also does it without pointing fingers directly (because everyone even the influencers are victims too. The community and movement that is coming up due to Rens music, the "education" and connections he has made in the industry and beyond that he is also supporting and bringing up with him, is proof of what we can all do for each other... I was starting to think that society was just f*cked... But now and especially through the reaction videos too, I can see we do have hope, as long as we all take this onboard and pass the love and support forward.... There ARE more of us out there, we just need to all demonstrate that, even if it's just one small thing a day ❤

Talent shows. "The only thing real about them is the art," you said. True... a contestant comes on stage; their most emotional story is drawn out of them; and the trajectory of their future performances is a glitzed-up look, the accompaniment of flashy backgrounds, choruses and dancers, and singer-battles. I assume the winner will forfeit autonomy to support the music industry. But I once saw a contestant resist all that, week after week. It was herself and her guitar and Bob Marley songs, which was just as well, because Bob Marley wasn't much in vogue in that arena. But she did provoke thought and she did leave an impression on many people. That's what we need more of.

Anthony just heard your last two new songs and absolutely love them, as the reaction to this song and any song you react to, because you are always true to yourself and that makes a reaction even more valuable, because it is authentic. Very interesting as well the topic brought about being young and kids just picking on your different features, it's 100% real, you just want to be the less different you can to others, and man, when you grow up and come to terms with your uniqueness, at least in my case, I feel proud for every feature (physical or intelectual) that makes me different to the common maintstream group/matrix or whatever we want to call it, that they want us to conform to. Keep rocking man, loving your music releases

Yes SUBSTANCE. I'm gobsmacked that is came out 4 years ago - But ANY time this message gets out is the Right Time. Ren has a Huge HEART. Once again he uses his platform and reach for important social commentary. He's determined to tell it like it IS - and Make a DIFFERENCE! I want ALL Schools ( and Shopping Malls! ) to play this on continuous loop! Kids HAVE to learn, and then to to apply, some critical analysis and have peer groups who spread these messages. Not to be just open 'Social Media Sponges'. To build the understanding that these Social Media images of the so called 'Ideal' are manufactured - Not REAL. That NOBODY is groomed within an inch of their lives, and always 'up and happy'. That so many of these are photoshopped or otherwise 'filtered'. NOONE is perfect or has a perfect life! We need a targeted "GET REAL!" campaign. Starting in the last couple of years of Primary school - at least! We also need to educate ALL our kids - and our girls in particular -but also our boys - about what 'Objectification' is, and what being 'Sexualised' is about. How this has come out of the porn industry and has nothing to do with the inner person. nor real respectful caring reciprocal relationships. How damaging and distorted these images are. How TOXIC to relationships- to self esteem. Toxic to individuals and to society. Keep up YOUR good work too. 😊❤

I think this has been the best reaction video I've seen in a long time because of the themes you bring up and talk about Anthony. Thanks ❤ You are completely right. I can certainly identify with many of the things you are saying. I'm not built for it, or at least I don't have the energy to deal with everything I'm bombarded with on a daily basis. About 1 year ago I stopped watching TV, I rarely log into my Facebook and am now at a point where I am considering shutting it down completely. I only use my Instagram to follow talented artists - people who really KNOW ore CAN something I admire. I have become much, much happier since making those changes in my life.

I really like your dive into this. I too have had issues keeping weight on; people focus on those trying to lose, but not being able to maintain a healthy balance is a challenge on both sides. This "You gotta have this" philosophy is what the entire advertising and marketing industry is about. "If you haven't got a shell then you're just a f*cking wasteman." Dude, I watch reactions to watch you REACT to the song. I will never bitch about you pausing the video. It still boggles me how many people don't want to like, hear your comments and opinions, when they come here for that.

One of my favourite Ren songs which tends to fall under the radar. The tapping in the first verse to me is someone typing on a computer keyboard. To me it's another way of Ren highlighting what affects teenagers nowadays 'cyberbullying', plus most of the things that they watch are online (beauty tips, influences, etc...). That's my take on it at least.
