i disagree with remy here tbf. he makes the point that we are extremely reliant on oil, which is exactly what these protesters are unhappy with although theyre still morons? i mean i dont like fiat currency and our monetary system but im required to use it to participate in society. i mean what does remy want them to do? never wear clothes?

As someone keenly interested in chemistry, I'm REALLY impressed at the accuracy of the polymer and other petroleum-derived chemical labeling in this video! Remy actually researched the probable material composition of all the items and took the time to get them right! The ethylene vinyl acetate of the shoe soles, the xylene solvent for the marker, the tartrazine yellow in food (it's phosphorescent and glows in the dark due to its conjugated pi bonds!), the polyester-27 in sunscreen, it's all real stuff!! Very impressive!

True but what is even more funny is that these stop oil people are most certainly against fission power. The energy source that has the lowest co2 emissions and enviromental impact in the world. I wish we used fission for electricity and cargoships. While using hydrogen for planes, cars and trucks.

I actually learned a lot about oil products and lol'd at the same time! Only Remy could make this happen with rhyme and verse. Outstanding!

Thats not backwards, both of those things are entirely neutral. Are hammers good or bad? I can both build a house for an orphan with one and bludgeon an orphan with that same hammer, so which is it? Well, obviously, it's neither. It's just a thing that exists, no moral association needed or implied. 'Opposite' would mean oil is good and equality is bad, which is just as stupid. If we use oil to drown seals that's not good and if equality of outcome comes about because everyone magically starts putting in equal effort equally competently thats not bad.

I try to explain this to people sometimes. Thank you, now I can just send them this link instead of writing out a long post of everything that is made of oil (like almost everything in our modern world) most people think its just their cars and that is where the thinking stops. Its very frustrating.

He also forgot to mention that oil is used on the asphalt on the road that Evs tear up. Evs tear up the road more that a conventional gas powered car (because they are much heavier than a gas powered car). So EVs require more oil for the asphalt for the road that will have to be repaired more. Also EVs chew threw tires faster than gas powered cars (again because they are so much heavier). So more synthetic rubber, which is petroleum based.

He never read a book because knowing stuff is no longer cool.

No oil, no mining for lithium or cobalt. Even an EV excavator would need hydraulic fluid.

Takes a lot of coal to manufacture solar panels. Heating all that silica rock up going to take at least a couple tons of coal per solar panel lol.. This is just is that one step of the process you will find fossil fuels are required pretty much at every stage of going green.

It's at 450 ppm now. When we get it back to the 2000-7000 ppm range we get to live on a green lush planet. We still have a long long way to go for that. On the other hand if we follow the climate crazies and get it down to 150 we get to die on an iceball.
