Remy: It's Raining Men (Boeing Parody)

Parody of The Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men" written and performed by Remy. Mastering and background vocals by Ben Karlstrom. Table by Scott A. Ewine.
LYRICS:
Welcome to Boeing, where we make earnings per share
And also, I guess, planes
Sir, I still have a concern about the safety of our process for the new-
Have you seen our new incentive pay?
Our new plane is fuel efficient
It's the Prius of the skies
And once we hit our ESG targets
We've got enough to worry about, guys
Diluting our key priorities
Is problematic for safety
Don't you think there might one day be consequences to this?
None that I can foresee
Um…It's raining men
That's a dude, yeah
It's raining men
A man!
Our passengers unlike our fuselage will be screwed under this plan!
Things could not be any going worse
Um, have you seen our diversity score?
Our executive team and door fastenings
Both have fewer nuts than before
If we reach our CO2 standards
I can buy that Panerai
The only carbon plummeting
Is the body of that guy
Oh don't tell me it's happening again-
It's raining men
Another dude, yeah…
It's raining men
A man!
Like Jim Morrison's overdose this is really bad for the doors, man

Excellent parody. I am retiring from the military side of Boeing (Jan 2025). After 34 good years at a formerly great company, we deserve everything that we get at this point. I know a lot of executives in my current position and I’ve talked to a few of our Presidents (we have 3). Follow and enforce your procedures in the factory. 2. Increase the amount of inspections. 3. Listen to the factory workers about the problems that they are having. 4. The areas that consume more hours to build than are budgeted for need to be looked at for re-design (I worked on C-17 re-design efforts. We reduced the cost of each airplane by $50M. Which made it easier and more cost effective to assemble). 5. Prioritize Quality, Schedule, Cost. Right now, it looks like Cost, Schedule, Quality.

The issue is not about DEI. The word on the street is that the new management team came from McDonnell Douglas and allegedly was more focused on profitability than quality and safety. This is not a new phenomenon in companies, but it may point to a shift in priorities. Hope Boeing can work this out. They have made great aircraft and had great teams.

Remys playing right into the narrative that this was somehow about wokeness and not corporate greed.
@annegrey3780
3 ай бұрын
perhaps I am wrong here, but I interpreted Remy's criticism of Boeing's focus on DEI as less about being one of those people who just likes to complain that things are "woke" all the time, and more about how the management was so focused on superficially winning as many awards and profits as possible that they forgot to make good planes. I didn't interpret it as that Remy is against a company genuinely actively welcoming of the idea of hiring a diverse workforce or screaming "woke" at things like a broken alarm.

@annegrey3780 I agree with your interpretation. I've never seen this channel before and (being LGBTQ myself) rolled my eyes at the "have you seen our diversity score?" line, but the "fewer nuts than before" really cracked me up and shows that they're not blaming DEI for this, rather they're saying that Boeing uses their DEI talk to distract from valid criticism of their business practices. The sarcastic backing vocals "such diversity" (which I missed the first time) confirm this imo. 😂👍

You know... I am a railroad traveler, and I have a peculiar observation. Whenever a passanger gets onboard, they HAVE to complain about the age or state of the coach they're in. Even if it's brand new. The same goes with the aicrafts. My mother will create a scene while boarding IF whe knows the exact type or age of the aircraft. It doesn't matter wheather it's a 5 years old A320, or a 20 years old ATR72. That's hilarious, I adore it))
@Liberty4Ever
2 ай бұрын
@@PogodinPavel - Passenger jets are large aluminum tubes with a design life based on fatigue cracks and the number of pressurization cycles, so concern over an airliner's age is at least somewhat valid. Many student pilots learn to fly in small two or four seat planes that are older than the pilot or instructor. Small planes are flown until they're crashed or a tornado/hurricane gets them, but they're well maintained.
@PogodinPavel
2 ай бұрын
@@Liberty4Ever That's proabably true, but - again - this is not strictly connected to the age. 1) The amount of take off and landing cycles is more important than the age itself or total operational time. 2) Production defects can make airframe more vulnerable to fatigue, so proper diagnostics are a must for any aircraft, so such issues can be ruled out even in an older aircraft. 3) It seems like FedEx's DC-10s and MD-11 aren't falling out of the sky, even a few 707's are in use somewhere. So it is very possible to keep such an antique equipment in service.
