Removing a 3.0 motor from a second gen 4Runner

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have never had to work on a 3.0 this intensely before, and now I know why everyone hates them. This motor was such a nightmare to remove! I'm not looking forward to putting it back in. In this video I go over a few tips and tricks I picked up while dealing with this devil of a setup. If you're watching this because you are about to do the same project, I wish you luck and hope this helps!

I got rid of fuel line from the tank to The rail by the dampener and put -6an braided line with a cleanable filter on the frame rail cause the factory fuel filter is a pain im the Aaa. But with that and some bigger Imjectors I picked up a crazy amount of power. Oh and a 340lfm racing pump.

I have an 88 4Runner with the 3.0 one of the first ones to get the 3.0, I was told there were differences but I figured the engine has to be the same and after a lot of confusing info I went ahead and stuck a new crate engine in and it runs well, The 3.0 in this seems to have plenty of power still I wonder about problems that could show up after some miles

Transmission does not have to come off. But make sure to thoroughly clean all oily residue until you can eat off of it. And use a small bead of silicone. I use ultra black, as a gasket or on both sides of the gasket. As well as in between the windage tray and the block. You will have to remove your front differential, as it sounds like you'll be doing this job with the motor still in the truck. Again, any oil gets in there and mixes with the silicone, you'll still have a leak. Good luck!

I didn't, just a lot of swivels and extensions. I also unbolted my crossover and tied it up and out of the way. Probably not any easier though.

I have one from that exact setup. You can get my number from your brother Joey. I'm not going to post my number here though. I just pulled the harness with the motor about 3 weeks ago.
