    I just spun a bearing on my 3vze, you were right about removing the motor to fix it, you can't take out the main cap girdle without pulling the tranny off so you can get the rear main seal housing out of the way. Im about to pull mine and your video is going to be worth GOLD to me

    If you're pulling this engine with plans on putting it back in, before you remove anything , use multi-colored zip ties to mark your vacuum lines so when you go to put them back there's no guessing. They look better and last longer than tape or paint markers and you can leave them on. Snip the leftover length and they don't look bad at all.

    I have a 97 sr5 4Runner and was thinking about taking out the engine to replace all the seals. I have a two car garage and have the engine lift and stand. Do you think I have the room to do this project?

    I hadnt seen your reply! I hope you got it sorted out! If not, If you're pulling just the engine, it shouldn't be a problem to get it out safely in a garage. Its a heavy motor, so watch out. You don't need any special tools, and can pull it out in a few hours by yourself. Good luck!

    mbezold hello! yes, you can do it on both. The truck in this video is a 4x4 and the truck in my PART 2 of removing a 3vze is a 2WD. Part 2 gives you a lot of tips, you should check it out!

    So I pulled the engine with the transmission and the transfer case today. My hoist could go high enough and this approach worked like a charm. This is really the best way to do this. Thanks for the info!

    I Have three of These motors In the Garage......Just started One Up the past Couple days...Runs Strong...another Im Relapping the Valves, gunna start That engine Up soon too, Hopefully it runs...i think it didn't before cuz i doubled up Intake Gaskets to One side and the other One was missing...So that Could make it Run 'off' Lol is prolly Why it Did. I have to Say i am not fond of this Engine, though I like the technology in Some Ways and How accurate it is and what is All involved in the inventions of it all through the Personalities working to Create it,... and the Sensors, computer Wires etc etc..I Moved this Engine Out and in to Trucks of Toyota's bout Maybe 6 or 7 Times..lol and Some more Soon in the future Im sure. This Engine...I Like it..idk Y exactly...Maybe cuz It goes Up highway Hills better than 22r Versions... I KNOW that When I drove one Changing its oil once at Work,,,that When the 3vze Had a STANDARD transmission......It Flew!!!!! When I hit the Gas......NOT AT ALL LIKE THE AUTOMATIC..Cool Video NighWrencher

    Do you have any experience doing the valve adjustments on these guys?

  • @NightWrencher

    @NightWrencher

    6 жыл бұрын

    Chris Todt actually I do. but its not cheap. you have to measure and take note of your gap for each valve, one by one, then go to the dealer to buy the correct shims to bring the gap back into spec. To replace the shims you need to remove the cam, then with a thin screw driver, or a pick, you pop them off one by one then swap in the correct one to bring the gap back. hope this help and gives you a good idea on how to go about it. when you do your timing belt, that's the best time to do the adjustment.

    Chris Todt there are videos of people doing the shims without removing the cams. You just have to hunt for them. Just type in "3vze valve shims"

    Usually I look for engines on Craigslist and offer up, another good place would be the junkyard, provided that you actually buy the warranty for it. If you're looking to buy a 3vze in particular, usually the bottom and is in great shape, and the problem lies in the heads. If you buy a used one, make sure to take the heads off and inspect them before you buy them if you're able to then replace the head gaskets when you put it back together.

    first of all make sure you don't have any big exhaust leaks before the o2 sensor, that'll cause a lean code. second, open up your AFM to make sure its has not been tampered with. 3rd is check for vacuum leaks or disconnected air hoses.
