    Part 2! I've got a 1992 auto tran. with the 3vze almost out. I just picked up a 1993 manual trans with a good motor. The plan was to swap a 3.4 and find a manual trans. Got the 1993 for free though. To good to pass up. I'm not a mechanic. I will need all the help I can get. Not many videos out there that are detailed like yours.

    Great to hear you're still at it! I was just gifted a 1994 4Runner 5sp with a blown head gasket and multiple oil leaks. The old dog has close to 300k and I thought it be easier to swap in a 3.4 than to try an resurrect the old thing. My first time tackling something like this so I'm doing my home work. I'll keep an eye out for part 2, thank you NightWrencher

    Awesome video, thanks for putting the effort in to record the process! Quick question: is it really that easy to just disconnect the AC compressor lines? Don't you have to clear out all the freon? Can you just unmount the compressor but leave the system intact?

  • @NightWrencher

    Its a bit of a pain but if you can unbolt the compressor from the engine, you should be able to keep the AC system sealed

    More than likely its going to be a faulty knock sensor. Thats going to be a big projects to repair because its under the intake. Look up toyota knock sensor bypass and see if that works out for you. Good luck!

    All 3vze's should be almost exactly the same, so deleting the crossover shouldn't be too hard.

    Jack Abner if you want to remove the engine by itself without the trans(not what I did) you have to remove the intake manifold and disconnect all the connectors under it, then take the heads off to get to the top bellhousing bolts.

    I would be interested in part 2. I am pulling a 3vze engine for a 1990 4runner. It is hard to get to the top bolts of the transmission. How did you get to these? Did you pull the engine with the transmission or separate?

  • @NightWrencher

    Rosco Bosco- I pulled the engine and trans together actually because it was the fastest for me that way. There's a way to get to the bolts with swivel sockets and really long extensions but the heat crossover really gets in the way. The easiest thing to do(for me) if I'm just pulling the engine by itself is to take the heads off. Then you have easy access too the trans bolts and everthing is easier to pull out. Also when you put the engine back in, you can put in the block first then install the heads together afterward. I'm still working on that part 2 believe it or not! Thanks for the comment!

    What air compressor are you using?

  • @NightWrencher

    @NightWrencher

    7 жыл бұрын

    TheBravo13x I'm using a small 50 gallon tank on a single stage compressor. I plan on buying a 2 stage compressor sometime in the near future. Name brand isn't too important, the biggest difference is the hose size. Make sure you're using a 1/2 or 3/4 hose to get the most power out of your air tools.
