Remove Fan Clutch DIY Tool!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's go into detail on a quick tool build to remove these stubborn "giant nut" type fan clutches. I did this on a Ford but the same principle should work on Chevrolet or Dodge if they have the same clutch attachment method.

Ok! This solidified my idea to go out and buy a pneumatic fan clutch removal tool set!

I had to laugh, you are a comedian in the making. Now I want to watch Vice Grip Garage. Thanks for the clutch info, I needed that data.

I think I found an easier way, it's called go to your local auto parts store and take advantage of their tool loaner program. I borrowed a Fan Clutch Wrench Set, Fan Clutch Holder, and while I was at it, I had them throw in the Serpentine Accessory Fan Belt Remove and Install Tool. By the time it took you to remove that fan clutch, I'd already have been sitting back in a lounge chair enjoying a brewski or two.🤣😂

Not everyone lives near an auto parts store, and not every parts store will loan tools. For people like me who live 60 miles from the closest Walmart or police station. Diy tools are a part of life.

When I replaced my fan clutch on my Trailblazer I made a simple tool to hold the water pump pulley in place. I used a piece of flat metal stock. I think it was 1/2 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick, by probably about a foot long, but I do not remember the exact length. What I did was drill holes in each end of that metal bar, fasten one end to the water pump pulley by removing one bolt and reinstalling the bolt then fastening the other end of the rod to one of the alternator mount bolts. That pulley could no long move at all. Then I proceeded to loosen and remove the fan clutch.

👍☑️ spend a couple hours of ur "FREE" time (that you have now valued at $ 17.50 an hour) minus material cost, depreciation on welding equipment, etc, etc and you get a "FREE" tool. Does make for a good video and much more satisfying than driving to the store LOL tks man!

Not the best way. You could possible ruin your serpentine belt that way. I have seen comments from people that did ruin their belt.

a bit of cardboard or pulling your radiator can help protect it.

I slid card in front of my radiator when I replaced my fan clutch. I did not want any chance of me dinging the radiator while removing that stuff.
