The sisters were all strong vocalists with a brilliant harmony but Anita's voice had that particular extra flavor that touched something even deeper. I was captured every time by her soaring vocal gymnastics on 'Freedom.' You lifted my spirits so often, Anita. May the Good Lord lift you high toward his warm embrace.

"I heard hes so shy the other day in a department store intercom and started smiling like u was put into a time machine back to 9 (1982) years old in at my grandmothers house in Rocky Mount N.C. and been playing it for 3 days straight on youtube NOT KNOWING one of the pointer sisters had passed on. I knew there was going to be a glaring error. That error was the exclusion of Bonnie as they mentioned the Pointer Sisters by name. As most people know, they began as a quartet. Bonnie was on the first five albums before going solo. But rest in peace to dear Anita. You will be missed. RIP to June and Bonnie Pointer. My condolences to Ruth Pointer and the family.

Thanks for mentioning it Kiande. I was going to but you beat me to it! You think they would do better research before they talk about someone who has passed. Bonnie was in a few of the clips for crying out loud and not even a mention. Oh well the years of great research are gone. See it all over the net now misspellings, forgetting about personalities who have passed in weekly or yearly memoriams. Pretty sad considering how social media is everywhere and easy to count it all.

Actually, they began as a duo with Bonnie and baby sister June who called themselves Pointers A Pair. Then Anita joined them and they were a trio before Ruth got on board making them a "quartet." Such a talented and hard working group of siblings. Don't think we will ever have such a group again. R.I.P. Anita!

@@orane3549 Yes I know all of that. I'm well versed on their history. When I say "began" I'm referring to their first complete album as a group, although they had singles as a trio before that first album. The main point I'm making is that people always exclude Bonnie from their history.

A month later I contacted her staff and they apologized and Anita not only autographed my copy twice, she also sent me a keychain and other gifts and goodies. It's messed up that Anita, June, Bonnie and Ruth hasn't been honored by BET, Soul Train and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who hasn't even inducted them.
