I begged my mom to buy Private Dancer tape from a 2nd hand store; we were very poor to say the least. I listened to the whole album; laid on my sheepskin on the reservation thinking about the social injustices I was born into; and Tina's music made me feel a freedom that no one could ever tell me; not even history books. Her life story elevated a heightened understanding of what "character deprivation" really meant. Later, when I learned what Capitol Records executive said "no one wants that nigger," gave a compassionate understanding that you only give your oppressor validation when you limit yourself in their designed path no matter how disparaging their views are. Tina taught me you can create your own paradise in your present hell.

What made Tina Turner an idol WAS NOT HER SONGS IN THE STUDIO - but the unusual and super charismatic projection of her fulminating presence on stage, in which her whole personality was electrically projected, projecting (almost as if esoterically) all human consciences!... With all naturalness and absolutely absolute authenticity!... Greetings from Portugal (Europe).

She was a woman of a mature age and that in itself shouldn’t make her passing as sad as it is. But it does feel like a huge loss, a big hole in our cultural and musical lives. Her generosity of spirit, her energy, incredible voice and mastery of both song and stage makes her passing very hard to take. Her extraordinary tenacity in the face of huge social struggles as a woman and a black person in her youth as well as her personal journey from the abuse and psychological prison of her appalling first husband makes her a trailblazer and an inspiration to us all.

As JJ Jackson of MTV called her, "The Burner, Tina Turner", I will miss Tina! She had such awesome pipes! A great singer! I think "We Don't Need Another Hero", from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, is my favorite song of hers. Such a bitter pill to swallow here. Bryan was so young back in the 80's. He played guitar back then. In recent times, he's played bass. Anyway, thank you Tina for the great songs. RIP, lady! 😢💔🙏
