Remember Silva vs. Weidman

Спорт

At UFC 162 in 2013, defending UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva was upset by Chris Weidman. At the time, Silva and the UFC were looking at potential superfights against Jon Jones at Georges St-Pierre if he were to win. But Weidman won with a stunning knockout, stopping all the momentum that those two Silva superfights were gaining. #andersonsilva #chrisweidman #shorts #ufc

@@philippecote3179 lol man….Silva was undefeated in the UFC up until that moment. Silva wasn’t even winning the fight it was pretty much evenly matched. The fact Georges called it just shows how well Georges knew a lot of fighters capabilities were and what their weaknesses were. He came back to defend the belt again against Silva….That was the start of Silvas demise after those 2 fights. What’s even crazier is that this was in 2013 and Georges was already retired at 33 by then and he still holds how many UFC records lol. Only coming back for one fight in 2017 to move up a division and win another belt, but that would be his final fight. Love seeing the 🐐 call this spot on

GSP, the real GOAT. A clean hard worker with an amazing career. He msy have lost 2 fights but he came back to avenge those defeats in devastating fashion. Matt Hughes and Matt Serra both were stomped out once George aged into a well rounded fighter. No steroid tests failed. He led the charge by being one of the firdt fighters to take random drug testing year around and he never failed. He us a good man and honorable. He had some legendary brawls and for my dollar it does not get any better than GSP. What a talent. And a fine human being. We should all aim for such greatness. GSP, the GOAT

They had a chance after Abu Dhabi. Anderson pissed everyone off so Dana didn’t want it at the time. Then came along the chael rivalry. Following after that they (ufc) played with their food.

If Silva didn’t showboat against Weidman who knows what his career would have been like. That KO was the beginning of the end for him, then there was also the leg break. Quite unlucky

The reality is, at that point, a big part of Anderson wanted to lose. He'd had enough of the expectations and pressure. Decided to get super loose knowing he'd be fine with it either way.

Yes but it was all that show boating that always made his fights so exciting. He was like NEO from the Matrix every single other fight before that 1. No one wins every fight for ever unless they quit early.

No show boating or not, Weidman had his number. They fought a combined total of 7 rounds, between the first fight & 2nd fight. Chris not only won every single round, but he won every minute of every round against Silva. Terrible match up, GSP was correct. Silva was exposed by Sonnen and Chris came and finished the job.
