To be fair I haven’t seen he has refused to fight Tom. I think JJ just wants to get maximum amount of legacy and money from his remaining fights. Stipe is still considered the best HW of all time, so makes sense to beat him. And at the this stage of his career that feels eminently doable. Alex P is only getting better and could be a three weight champ in future so beating him now whilst your nan could take him down again helps give a large payday and boost legacy for minimal risk. Tom is still not well known outside of UK and is easily the most dangerous fight for John. I think it’s a simple risk / reward calculation. I don’t think Jon is scared he just doesn’t want to risk it unless there is an overwhelming threat to his legacy.

If JJ wanted the maximum legacy right, why would he fight stipe at this point in time if the no one gives a shit about him beating someone we all knew he would beat? Years after the win people would say he beat an old stipe. Additionally why would he casually mention Alex’s name to the fans, basically asking if they’d want to see it? So by the looks of it, he would rather fight retiring stipe who hasn’t fought it was seems like eons, or Alex Peirera, who has a massive hole in his game we all know exists ( his wrestling ). His toughest fight would be the most well rounded, hungriest opponent at HW, and wouldn’t ya know it, Tom Aspinall checks those boxes, and is the interim champion. If JJ wanted to solidify his legacy the most he’d take out Tom Aspinall, shut everyone up, then retire.

The stipe fight has been on the cards and "next" for a while now. When it was announced everybody wanted to see it, now you're saying it's in the way for Tom Aspinall. Be consistent, the fight hasn't happens yet. If you said " I wish these fights happened quicker" I could understand but you can't just keep changing main event fights every time a new fad comes along.

For a non PPV card, the crowd really seem to be popping. Fight Night cards normally don't get that much energy from the fans.

Poirier will lose, but he hits hard, is active, showed in his last fight he can still hang even with young and hungry killers, and has hopefully learned from his mistakes from his last two title fights. He has a chance. Slight, but it's there. Stipe when he was 34 would've won this any day, but the man is 42 and by the time this fight actually happens won't have fought for 4-5 years, having lost his last fight by KO, which mostly happened due to being vastly underweight because of a torn retina from DC's eye pokes. Stipe is way past it. He's old and plagued by issues induced by injuries. He also just doesn't seem to want it anymore, and no one can blame him. He's the heavyweight GOAT, and he's happily retired.

Not everyone wants to jack their hormones up to compete with juice heads. Juicing ruined a lot of the grappling scene too. If stipe really wanted his Francis rematch or his Jones title shot sooner he could have accepted Blaydes ringside callout instead of pretending like he couldn’t hear him & ducking, a win over Blaydes would actually give a reason to be hyped about Stipe but instead he whines like a girl while enjoying a 3 year vacation. Giving stipe a title shot is like giving a child throwing a temper tantrum for 3 years free candy as reward

Eh...that remains to be seen. Jan is a great grappler and Alex defended well and got back up. Glover is a really good grappler and trainer. Glover helped train Liddell for years and sparred with Liddell. Alex is a hard worker and keeps improving. This will be the very best striker Jones has ever faced and a striker who can sleep him.

You do all realize if Dana simply didn't call the last Tom fight an interim title fight then there would be no issue? The WHOLE reason you guys think he deserves it is because Dana said it was an interim fight.. well now Dana is saying he isn't getting the fight. How are you gonna hold on so tight to one thing Dana says then ignore the other? Also, Stipe is TRULY deserving. He should have gotten a rematch against Francis - he dismantled him in their first fight and got caught in the second. Tom Aspinall has been on a very good winning streak bar a fluke injury loss, and has won an interim championship. If stipe miocic wants a title shot, he should fight real contenders like Tom did.
