That's some spooky footage. That explosion was huge.

Great footage as usual. Not a fan of the picture-in-picture thing, but great footage.

Afterward, they had a steak cookout and ran off to the Philippines to get laid. And there was much rejoicing. Yehhhh. Definitely George, 1951 - an upgrade from the Item device sometime before.

US didn’t conduct any high-yield thermonuclear testing in 1955, this may be a shot from operation Redwing (1956)?

This was Greenhouse George where they tested experimental deuterium/tritium capsule burn in its center. Technicly its themonuclear but beter known as boosted.
It looks like the Greenhouse George shot. This was a test of a boosted fission device that yielded around 225 kilotonnes or around 12-15 times the Hiroshima device. It was a classic fission device but boosted by adding radioactive tritium to the core and was the largest nuclear blast until the first full thermonuclear test Ivy Mike the following year.

Not as deadly looking as the footage used for Mike Oldfield's "Nuclear" video.

The original is better. Too washed out and overly bright in new version.
