Red Meat & Cancer: 3 Thoughts from a Doctor - 2023

We've been told for a few decades that eating meat is somehow bad for our health.
But we have been eating lots of meat in our diet for many eons, so can it be bad?
In this video, we will discuss the 3 thoughts you should have when any "scientific" claim is made that seems to fly in the face of what we have always done.
Indeed, science has given us many wonderful things and will continue to do so. But, sometimes science is hijacked and used as a paid advertisement for certain products, sometimes science is mis-performed due to the researcher's preconceived notions on the topic, and sometimes the results of research are not protected in a controlled fashion.
Whether you should eat meat, eat red meat, eat processed meat, or eat charred meat are vital questions to your overall health as a person, and to our overall health as a species. What do you think of these studies and what they purport to show??

I love the truth! If red meat was truly harmful, my great-grand parents would have figured it out. My personal health has greatly improved while increasing my consumption of red meat. I realize that doesn't prove anything. But being 70 y o, my health is precious to me. I don't need medicine anymore and I feel fine. So does my wife. We tell all our friends and family and share your posts on social media. When you look healthy and feel good, people listen. Thank you Ken and say hello to your lovely wife from us.

As a child, I did not like to eat meat. As I grew up, I started eating things like chicken, but I would not touch read meat except ground meat on rare occasions. It wasn't because I thought it was bad. It was because I did not like to chew it. Then as an adult, I was trained nutritionally as part of teaching aerobics to eat white meat like chicken, no red meat and no fried foods. High carb, low fat. I ate very strictly that way for 11 years. Guess what!? I ended up getting breast cancer. Go figure! So for the past 8-1/2 years that I have been cancer free, I have not just introduced red meat into my diet, but I am for the past 4 years primarily keto-carnivore. It is what keeps me well! My doctor loves my blood reports and my mammograms and my ultrasounds and my bone density scans, etc.! I could go on! There is no reason to limit those meats in our diet, and I'm quite certain they are beneficial. I only wish I had known sooner, but absolutely a lesson learned!

I mean yes. If you consume grains, sugar, salt and eggs it is bad. You should be eating nutritatrian diet with anti cancer medicinal properties. Greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds. But you ignore that and go back to diseased red meat, bacon and ketosis that creates free radicals. The only study this dude cites was to determine guidelines for eating red meat and by their own grading scale the claim to eat red meat gets "weak recommendation, low-certainty of evidence" and the researchers had to update the study because they didn't disclose funding from the International Life Sciences Institute, which is a food industry funded lobbying group. You don't have to watch the video, he could be claiming milkshakes cure hair loss, whatever he's saying is not backed up by science.

They always fixed steaks or hamburgers or pork chops or bacon and turkey and they would tell me red meat will give me the nutrients I need ALL day. And they always made sure there was fat on my meat and to eat that it was really good for me. I've eaten that way my whole life.

I wish I had known about keto/carnivore decades ago, my wife might still be alive. I didn't discover it until 6 months before she died of metastatic breast cancer. Too late. But it has lead to a huge improvement in my own health. No longer pre-diabetic, low triglycerides, low A1C, high HDL, quite a bit of weight loss. BTW, Mayo clinic is now requiring patients going in for radiation treatment to be in ketosis first - it improves the efficacy of the treatment and the recovery. One would think if keto is good before you get a bolus of radiation, it would be good all the time.

Not to mention my weight dropped from 205 to 152-I’m 164 today with about 13% body fat and hit the gym 5-6 days a week. Like you, all my bio markers have dramatically improved. My last “prolonged” fast had my ketones beyond the capacity of my Precision X-tra to measure, ie., slightly south, if I’m remembering correctly, of 8 mM. The reason for the elevation was my blood glucose was 48 dL, and in any other circumstances I would have been in a coma. As it was, I was dead lifting, etc, in the gym and running on ketones and fatty acids. Be well.

That's good because some days you are hungry and some days you are not, and so you don't need to manually decide when to fast or to eat. It'll sort itself out autonomously. The stomach is smart - feed it the nutritionally appropriate diet and it'll know what to do on it's own. Let your body/stomach tell you, not just your brain regarding manual thought processes. Anyways, your stomach has neurons connecting to your brain which is the very part of your brain that signals hunger... it's not just only manual computational logic whilst ignoring your stomach. There's no need for manual logic intervention, just let it automate. That's better and more efficient logic.

What perversions do you hold in your narrow mind? Secondly, if I boasted, then I also boasted about dramatic weight loss, dramatic improvement on appearance, improvement on hair quality, amazing increase in stamina, etc .. why did you miss all that, and just single out erections? Check out most keto / carnivore commentary on results and you will hear similar stories. All boasting? Doesn't fit your vegan world view, I know, I know .. I have a nephew 38 years old, who had erectile dysfunction for 5 years. I put him onto keto and then carnivore diet and the result for him after just 3 weeks has been amazing .. I would elaborate but that would probably conflict your perverted sensibilities further. Wake up and smell the grilled fatty lamb cutlets my sorry friend.

My husband had an urgent visit with his cardiologist today. He had severe chest pain last night and the ER discharged him with no heart attack, thankfully. But at the cardiologist today he reviewed my husband's labs and addressed his sleep apnea. He said he has to lose 20 pounds, but NEVER asked his diet. And offered no advice on how to do so. The doctor dwelled on the importance of low cholesterol etc. Only saving grace is the doctor ordered a Calcium score test. But after watching your videos for months now, I have learned so much and as a result was not encouraged by the cardiologist.

There are four matters that need examining though, that is the mTOR, IGF1, arachidonic acid and Neu5Gc. James DiNicolantonio seems to give us a solution for the mTOR and IGF-1 by using glycine, but in another publication he expressed concern about arachidonic acid and had no solution., There are publications about the Neu5GC and I suggest they need examining.

what you said is what has been obvious to me from the beginning even before I became a carnivore. only an idiot would believe something new that goes against what you've always known to be true without overwhelming and visually obvious evidence, research alone would not be enough for me. believing research is what's ruined Americas health, we ignored the obvious and listened to science like it knew everything, even when it went against what you knew to be true, such as sugar is healthy, animal fats are bad, but hey, the fats we made in a lab are good for you (vegetable oils), eat more grains. all of that was lies and bullshit which is killing us still today.

Our ancestors had common sense. Large-scale medical research today show...common sense is not so common 😂

I have always craved fatty meat since I was very young, never had a sweet tooth or loved carbs that much, ironic because since i started ketovore (keto/carnivore) I have lost nearly 40 pounds effortlessly and all my bloating and gas and heartburn is gone, my depression is controllable and my anxiety is less than before, i can only imagine how i will feel after 6 months or more of this diet i will probably feel 18 again

Yes, I wish more prominent people in the keto community would be brave enough to address this. It's like virtually no one wants to touch it. I highly respect Dr. Mercola, Dr. Axe, and Dr. Berg for doing so.

Thanks for the video on red meat. Reminds me of the movie Sleeper with Woody Allen who was a vegetarian who wakes up in the future and to find that science has finally discovered that thick steaks were actually health food. On an ironic note, the advertiser for this episode was Wonder Bread.

Most of these conclusions seem to be a people jumping to conclusions with a correlation/causation argument. People want easy answers, but many times we don't have enough knowledge. But if you can spin a direct "cause" then you can easily sell a cure.
