I met red buttons in the jamaican airport in the early 2000'S he was the only one in the first class line. I ran up and said hi, he was so nice, he let me take a picture with him, and he carried his own luggage, a really down to earth and super nice person!!!

Never got a dinner was one of the super duper classic comedy bits of all time, Red Buttons was one of my favorite, comedians , actors EVER !
It is so obvious that Dean and Red had a very special relationship. It is beautiful to watch. Dean cannot control his laughter. Total respect for each other.
I was hired years ago to play piano at a party in a mansion, red spent half the night by the piano,.he was a very charming nice man ,
I loved Red Buttons. He was a good actor and even better comedian.
I agree with you and they were actually clean jokes too. Those Dean Martin Roasts were good entertainment.
Amelia Earhart, who once said, "Stop looking for me! See if you can find my luggage." 🤣🤣😂😂 Dean's uncontrollable wheezing/struggling to breathe exacerbates it all the better!
Got in an elevator with my husband and the late great Red Buttons at a resort hotel in the Poconos many moons ago! He was just as funny off stage as well as on stage!
I never missed a Dean Martin or Friars Roast. No egos here. Just pure laughter. All done without one swear word in the dialogue. This was a time when everybody could take a joke. To bad it died with these true comedians. You can see the respect they had for each other. The day the comedy died.

Dean seemed to have more fun at these roasts than anyone . Spent most of the time cracking up and nearly falling out his chair !
I was helping a photographer friend at the Friars Club during the early 2000's when they were honoring Phyllis Diller and saw Red Buttons perform his 'Never Had a Dinner' routine live. He was quite hilarious with his act. In addition to seeing Mr. Buttons, their were other Hollywood alumni such as Milton Berle (just before his death), Sid Caesar, Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, Tony Martin and the lovely Cyd Charisse to name but a few. A moment in my life I will never forget.

Red Buttons was a comedy genius. He was one of a kind that could bring laughter through quick wit. The greatest accomplishment that a comedian can bring to the table is one that strikes real humor without being obscene. That is very difficult and unheard of anymore. This is why Red was one of the best.
