The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast is a series of television specials hosted by entertainer Dean Martin and airing from 1974 to 1984. For a series of 54 specials and shows, Martin and his friends would "roast" a celebrity. The roasts were patterned after the roasts held at the New York Friars' Club.

I was helping a photographer friend at the Friars Club during the early 2000's when they were honoring Phyllis Diller and saw Red Buttons perform his 'Never Had a Dinner' routine live. He was quite hilarious with his act. In addition to seeing Mr. Buttons, their were other Hollywood alumni such as Milton Berle (just before his death), Sid Caesar, Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, Tony Martin and the lovely Cyd Charisse to name but a few. A moment in my life I will never forget.

Red Buttons was awesome. I can watch his routines and recite some of them word for word and still crack up each time!

Funny as hell , especially with Freddie Prinze and Sammy sitting next to each other and neither were offended. They were laughing there asses off! This country has lost it's joy , it's not the same country anymore , unfortunately!!!

It’s so easy to watch Red Buttons for an hour. This was 1977 and Dolly Parton just sang during an NFL halftime wearing a Cowboys cheerleaders outfit and totally nailed it. Way to go Dolly!
