Just to clarify two things: first on my comment about Mr. Veritasium's clip, he said "there is not much charge behind it" which is correct, but then he said "so you can't get that much current flowing" which is incorrect. This is because current = charge / time. Since time is very short, the current is high, in fact can be as high as 30A through body depending on voltage. And you know well when someone says "it is the current that gets you, not voltage" it boils my blood!! Second regarding the guy with big transformer, apparently he is saying that he is running a wire through his shirt and is honest about it (translated by my Brazilian commenters, thank you!). That's why I said "If he is trying to imply that the current is running through his body..." because I wasn't sure. So he is not implying that, which is good. But I find it sketchy that he hid the wire in his shirt. WHY???

That's why I always use two watches. If one of the watch batteries dies, I don't get stuck in time and can still replace the battery. It does suck to age twice as fast the rest of the time, though.

I met 2 electricians and my cousin who contradict this... Though to clarify, the term "used to electricity" is misunderstood. All three of them have survived hight volt electrical shocks that made their mind no longer react to low voltage. Aka, if they tough live wires while changing a light fixtures, they would feel a slight tingle like a joybuzzer, but not react to this. This also means that, since they have no life-saving reaction, and a low awareness of current, in a situation like ElectroBOOM's Jaccob's Ladder episode where his sparkler contraption fell on him, they would have not had the reaction time to let go before their muscles siezed and it was too late.

9:45 It is possible to reflect some energy from an antenna by placing a metal object behind it. But it will only work when it is placed on a calculated distance based on the wavelength of the signal. A minimum distance is required to provide a parallel capacitance to the antenna. And a maximum of a quarter wavelength before the reflected signal doesn't sum up any more and even start to cancel the signal partly out, which also makes its performance worse. Even when you get it right, you'll have a maximum of 2 or 3 dBi signal gain into one direction, and the same amount of attenuation in the opposite direction. And 3dB gain is not really noticeable in performance on WIFI signals which you want to be everywhere, instead of having a sweat spot somewhere in your home.

my guess is the "HDR" is just a very powerful electromagnet screwing with the timekeeping circuit of his watch. when he can make one of my mechanical watches speed up like that I'll be convinced. no matter how much force is applied, the escapement in a mechanical watch will only let the spring unwind at a fixed rate... that's the whole job of the escapement, to make the spring unwind evenly over time despite having strong force at the beginning and week force at the end. If that speeds up, slows down, or winds itself backwards, I'll believe you're changing time. that's why when experiments are done regarding time dilation, they typically use mechanical time measuring instraments

I can still write this because the duration of the discharge was near zero.

He should have made this more obvious, for instance by filming how he put the wire inside his shirt instead of doing it off-camera. Or, explaining it with a text overlay at the start of the video (even if only in Portuguese). For anyone not understanding the language, this indeed just looks like a trick video, and my guess is that it also ended up being distributed as such, hence catching Mehdi's attention.

@@alexanderthomas2660 I don't think the video was made for international auditions. Anyone who speaks portuguese clearly understands it's not a trick, just a demonstration.

@@alexanderthomas2660 Even the video title are in portuguese, so it's clearly that the video was not intended to be targeted by people from others countries. So if some dude watch this video, and even that he don't understand a damn thing that has been said, he go to some gigantic transformer to test it anyway.. Well, it's natural selection at it's best.

The guy with the transformer is Brazilian, he is not claiming the current is passing through his body, he said he would put an "Conductor Element" between the two rods and create an arc without it affecting him although the fact that him was holding the rods and been potentialy equialized with the voltage
