I was a kid when I saw the first Cinerama movie In Philadelphia. When the curtain opened and Lowell started to speak, I was frantically trying to figure out why they needed that huge screen. Then he said the magic words, "This is Cinerama" and my whole movie changed. I help I never forget that moment...it was so exciting for this little kid from the stick. Fantastic.

MW TOO .. WHEN I WAS A KID IN EARLY 1960s I SAW "HOW THE WEST WAS WON " IN THE CINERAMA PICTURE AND I LOVE IT EVER SINCE AND I ALSO SAW THE BROTHERS GRIMM TOO AND I WAS HOOKED AND I WOULD LOVED TO SEE THE HOW THE WEST WAS WON IN THAT WAY AGAIN NOW IN 2020...

I had the exact same experience at the Zigfied Theater in New York City, in the early 70s.

Outstanding... they should show this at IMAX theaters to get the true widescreen effect. I'd pay for it!

It's very heartening to see the cleaned-up, fixed-up images that are now possible.

I was lucky enough to see How the West Was Won in true Cinerama in a revival theatre in Dayton, Ohio. So sad that process went away, it was truly spectacular.

Motion picture fans and historians will forever be indebted to all those involved in rescuing these priceless cinematic gems. Next on wish list: A Blu-Ray release of latest version scan of 'This Is Cinerama' to replace that extremely disappointing prior release (reminiscent of a 16mm blowup). The stereo audio fell slightly short of expectation as well.

Since my adverse criticisms four-years ago regarding the Blu-Ray release of 'This Is Cinerama' a completely new perfected version has been released. This time the same painstaking restoration procedure as used for 'Best Of Cinerama' was accorded. The result is truly magnificent.

I found the original program 'This is Cinerama' from 1952 in my parents attic !

Amazing restoration work.

Now after 7 yrs, you can upscale that to 8k and use AI to improve even more the images. Superb work.

Wonderful work! I wish I had your expertise. It's fabulous to see our film history being restored and preserved! This should be a government sponsored profession! In my eyes, you're a god! Can 2001 in Smilebox with a restored soundtrack and accurate color palate be far behind?

But there is! I have had it for about 5 years. Looks terrific as I view it on a 8ft wide movie screen via a Benq video projector with a 50,000 to 1 contrast. Absolute cinema quality.

so thats mean that there 9 strips overall? three RGB Technicolor strips for each camera?

Hiya, your commentary says the neg was scanned at 2k? why such a low resolution, why not 4k or higher?

Keep in mind that's a 2k scan of each of the three panels. There are three panels per frame.

Holy crap they are using Final Cut pro in 2016... OK I don't feel so bad, lol...

I have my copy on order (and paid for!!) for the November release along with RUSSIAN ADVENTURE. I really wish though that THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE BROS GRIMM could be done.... any news anyone???

WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS AMAZING CONCEPT ?????? SEEN IT IN U.K 1970'S THE FILM " THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD " DIRECTED BY GEORGE STEVENS . FROM U.K. (2021).

I want to state that the restored version of the church chorus ,fromThis is Cinerama , was never considered by Merian C. Cooper to be a part of the compile.It's not part of the feature.M.r Strhomier was just Demonstrating the Restoration of that sequence ,since the whole movie was re restored,but too expensive to up grade to the older one on Blu- Ray .

I thought the one-strip version of THIS IS CINERAMA was misaligned. Or was that just the prints but not the negative?

Boy this movie was suppose to be released on the 22 ,Miracle ! I just got it.
