    in my experience reels often have screws/nuts which need to be lefty-tightly to prevent loosening under use due to rotation. So using reverse threads on certain fasteners makes the widget more secure/solid.

    Great video, Thanks! I have been using the Barrier II for surf fishing for 2 seasons now. The barrier II is a good reel. I made some improvements to the drag, and added 1 bearing on the right side of the main gear (crank gear). I just found out about these Walmart OT reels a few days ago. I scored 4 of the 6000 size for a ridiculously low price. I didn't expect a whole lot for the cost, but wow, these are really built. The only drawback I see right away is the spool depth and shape, that may affect casting distance. For this low price, I am willing to give em a try. I have Grandkids, they will drop their rods, these will be perfect for them. If these really are made in USA, it's a double win! Thanks again.

    I have lots of $30 Daiwa Samurai combos and considering what I paid and the fact that they have their limitations but still work well after 6 years of many hours over that time they don't owe me anything. But in the reality no, they are not going to give you the quality or durability you'll get from higher end reel such as the BG.

    you guys are lucky, you get a variety of good budget reels to choose from in my country we only get penn, shimano and daiwa chinese knockoffs. The only thing that's great about it is the shipping doesn't cost as much as the reel itself😔

    @@CastFromTheHip only taken them out once so far, yet I am impressed for the price. Can not beat it, can give higher end combos a run for their money. Have not opened to see differences as the tsunami says it has 7 seals. Only time will tell longevity with some basic maintenance. For something to grab and throw in back of your pickup definitely a must.

    Am I missing something with this reel? It seems you cannot swap which side the reel goes on. Therefore, you are forced to fish left handed. If I am missing something, any help will be appreciated

  • @B_Enek0

    @B_Enek0

    You can swap sides. The handle is also the screw. It has two sets of threads one standard and one reversed so you have to turn clockwise to remove from the left side and then clockwise to tighten on the right side. Same with the screw cap on the opposite side. Hope this helps.

  • @N_Zaner

    @N_Zaner

    Жыл бұрын

    @@B_Enek0 Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, when you swap sides with this reel, it causes the anchor screw to be offset a little over an 1/8 of an inch. This in turn leaves the unit susceptible to water as well as just doesn't look or feel right. This is why I posed the question because I haven't encountered a spinning reel that cannot be swapped. However, I'm just not sure this particular unit is meant to be unless I am missing a part that comes extra with the unit.

  • @B_Enek0

    @B_Enek0

    @@N_Zaner it does stick out but this affect the seals. The screw and handle post do not have any seals or gaskets and doesn’t contribute to sealing. The seals work independently but you could also apply threadlocker as the screw does.
