wow I was psyched when I found it for $20 by me. great price!

One great thing about Ozark trail is they are made in the US!

Amazon currently has the Penn Pursuit 4000 (clam pack) for $34 +tax. Better than those Wally branded reels for over $50.

I ended up getting a KastKing 4000 recently and a matching rod by them, 6'6". I got both for under $75 total, both for about 20% off. First time getting back to fishing since I was a teen, and it's pomp jigs and paddle tails, next weekend I start. Thanks JC for inspiring me.

I have been VERY pleasantly surprised with the Ozark Trail reels. The ONLY issue I've had with mine is it didn't work well after it was run over by a truck.☹ Thanks for the update! I'm definitely going to get another!

The reason I would consider this would be because I really am trying to get less expensive gear for the jetty. One accident and broken $150 reel was enough for me. I wouldn't lose any sleep over breaking a $50 reel but I would definitely be very selective of the fish I'm targeting with that reel.

They are awesome reels for banging around on the kayak or jetty. Or giving as a gift to a beginner angler. I use the fresh water and salt water types, series 3000 and 4000. If someone that doesn't fish wants to come along and doesn't have gear. I let them use those, and they love them. They work great for the price. Although they would never replace my Penns.

I bought two Persuit 4000s on your recommendations couple years ago. I think I paid like 32$ on Amazon for them. Was looking for a battle 3000 now I can’t believe their like ~100$.

I've never used those but it looks very similar to a tsunami barrier which I have used and they do very well for the price. I like the pricey stuff like most everyone but I also like a good deal! just not a huge fan of wally world!

I just picked this reel (4000 size) up at Walmart Neptune for$20

Just this morning i had 3 rod and reels stolen, all together worth $500 one i just got and spooled up last night. Thst being said, guess im gonna go with the cheaper stuff. What rods do you pair them with?

Most likely. Walmart has been putting the 4000 on sale for like $15 and the 6000 for $20. The prices change back and forth any may actually vary from Walmart to Walmart store.

Yep, it's strange that they have been marking them down like that. Maybe they are going to discontinue them?

this ozark trail reel is a tsunami guard , the tsunami guard sells for like $70 from what i could find online

i'd like your thought on the Quantum Optix Spinning reel 40, 60, or 80

I've seen them changing the price of the sealed reel sometimes.

I also just bought 2 of them online for $15 each. Definitely worth it for use on the kayak. You got ripped off J.C.! The 5000 and 6000 were in the 50 to 60 dollar range

1 year later I haven’t caught crap , the fishing has been trash.

Sorry to hear that. Red tide really hurt the Snook and the bait situation in our area. I'm going to hit the beach in the morning on the ebike and see if I can find some Snook somewhere.
