Congrats to you Will on the expansion effort! Something I'd sorely like to know is a test of various inductive loads on these "new wave" high frequency inverters; namely hydraulic pumps (as for a log splitter) and water pumps 1.5hp/2hp/3hp up to 5hp feeding 2in+ discharge pipe capable of modest small farm irrigation under 40ac. The limit for split phase water pump applications sits at around 2hp or 3hp, while 3hp and 5hp applications are commonly bundled with a variable frequency drive unit (reported widely to be insanely costly and failure prone needing replacement) - or - requiring 3ph power (have you got to test many 3ph inverter configurations in use? curious minds want to know!) Have you planned a well for the new property?

Huge asset to the DIY community. I've been asking him to review the Sol Ark 15k for a long time now....and it's finally coming! I have the 15k, and with Will having the 18k, it will be very interesting to see why I over paid for the 15k 😂. In my defense.....I bought the 15k and installed it myself before the 18k was released.

I can’t believe how much you have grown as a person since I first bought one of your books and looked up your KZread channel close to eight or more years ago. You certainly did it right, young man and I can’t believe how well you did it! It took me almost 40 years to find a way out of the misery of living and working based on scale and productivity, while you were able to find it yourself at the perfect time and age of your life. Just look at the amount of time you will be able to share the knowledge of your journey with others and fascinate them with your own accomplishments. Will, I am so proud of you and grateful for the opportunity to have met you. CF

Slick! Can't wait for the new shop build. It's amazing how the size of your system is half what it was a couple year ago, and it will hopefully be half the size again in another few. Once you can power a house on something the size of a refrigerator that can be kept in a garage/shed, then Solar will be King.

Long time fan. I know you focus on off grid systems, but I think if you hired an electrician who was knowledgeable about code compliance that could really benefit your audience. I'd love to see some AC coupling or anything grid tied really. That said, I agree with your goal of totally off grid.

Thank you for looking at ground mounts. Please keep in mind all of us with wind, snow, and desire to use bifacial panels. I have seen new solar panels drop to 40 cents a watt, but the ground mount side can easily cost twice as much as panels. EG4 needs a pro unit that is a bit taller and can handle more panels and wind load!

I agree about the ground mount approach. That is the way I'm headed, but recently I've been thinking why not just some sort of carport build or lean-to type building that would be inexpensive and also act as a ground-mount. Then at least you get some covered parking/storage and could close it in eventually if needed/wanted. Just throwing it out there. :) Keep up the good work @WillProwse!

Reading some of the comments yes I have followed Will for a long time.. but I wish I would have found you in the beginning as I was building my beloved Lucy our 1977 Dodge Mallard class C.. yes I'm building her because of her simplicity.. I grew up in the 70s with these cars and I know them fairly well but the computerised cars have left me long ago. So I wanted to be trusting something I understood now in building my solar system onboard I followed someone's teaching enough to install a system but not your teaching and I've started with a 165-pound 245 amp hour lead-acid Glass mat battery... It turned out to be a real heavy paperweight.. then I went with a gel hybrid battery still lead-acid just another form. Then I discovered you and lithium. In the middle of the desert I installed to battleborn 100 amp hour batteries as you shown me and they worked marvelously.. like you I have thrown in my understanding of how to build a system on a small scale I actually have for independent systems on board just in case one fails or I want to multitask. I have three thousand watt inverters for three separate systems onboard! So yes how we have changed and morphed! I wish I had known from the beginning what I know now most of which came from your wonderful teaching. Now I am seriously considering my home my sticks and bricks. In Illinois they are shutting down all the power plants and encouraging everyone to go solar. What would you suggest for a home like mine. My home is completely electric I don't use any other sources of fuel. We use very little energy just a refrigerator and cooking just like we do on board our RV. Could you give an example of what a residential build with look like? Thank you so much and God bless.

I looked at one of those batteries for the house backup. Looks like my entire house uses less than 8kw. I also discovered that the grid supplier charges a premium when the demand spikes above 6kw. So I could save about $300 per year, at my current usage, just by running power through a battery/inverter system, and eliminating the premium spikes.Even without solar to augment it.

Hi, first, I hope you get feeling well soon! Sucks to be sick in this heat!! Second, congrats on the new shop plans and box truck with liftgate. Other than having a forklift with its own maintenance issues (oil, seals, propane) liftgates and hand pallette jacks rock. And finally your new paint job, color-coordinated equipment enclosures, and general organization looks AWESOME. It's true that without some cable management there's no good cable porn here, but like you said, with the loads you run and the heat generated inside an enclosure, leaving breathing room is better than noisy forced-air systems. Good stuff all around!!! If you're not already proud of yourself, you should be!

I recently moved out of Las Vegas . I did watch your progress last 5 years and I am extremely happy for you. Before I didn't like systems with lots of wires and colorful batteries strapped with zip ties or similar. I was imagining slick system uniformed and neat. There was some on market but extremely expensive and today there it is you just presented something affordable for me. And I am just couple hour from Signature solar so I will definitely go there to finally get for my home in TX nice backup system. Las Vegas did have very stable electrical system but here is not that case unfortunately. This system is great and your life story is inspiring, thank you for sharing it with all of us.

You are amazing Will! Your setup looks awesome. Wish I could find someone so knowledgeable and helpful as you without their own idea of what they want to sell you in my SC area. Solar is perfect here but good installers are hard to find.

Hi Will I've been following you for some time. Happy to say our custom house has been powered by solar for 21 years. And now it's time to upgrade for the future. Just purchased the 18KPV package and 2 Powerpro batteries. We'll need a lot of 240 volt power for our new induction stove top, 2 electric ovens and a yet to purchase EV truck. Thanks for the videos and knowledge.

I definitely agree w/ the ground mount idea and how to approach it. Especially when it's just you and your brother that you have to be able to work on it. Would be interested in seeing some other options on how it could be done.

Love the 280ah battery I asked about that in the past but Will said they would weigh too much (accurate based on video) but the trade off of having so much more in a smaller space plus lower $/kwh seemed worth it. Glad someone made it

EG4 does offer a cover for the conduit box to cover the holes on the second Battery. Also included in the system is an “X” bracket that aligns the relative position of the battery and the inverter so that the conduit box aligns properly with both other components.
