Rebuilding a Duramax Fuel Filter Head
Common for the older trucks, is the O-rings inside of the filter housing to wear out. Symptoms are where the truck randomly will not start, or run for a few seconds and then shut off. If they are starting to leak, you'll notice it starts to take longer and longer to crank. Simply because the leaking O rings are causing the truck to loose prime.
Double your fuel filtration from 4 microns the whole way down to 2 microns and cut the cost of filter changes in 1/2 with the CAT Adapter for your 01-16 Duramax!

Doing mine same issue...!
I deleted the whole filter head for like $20, FASS unit installed no longer need that factory garbage. Just put on my cat oil filter I got from ya today. Worked great.
I didnt know about the O ring under the heater plug, had one left over in my kit and figured it was an extra for the bleeder screw...thank you.
Thanks for the directional info on the plunger gaskets I couldn’t find that in another video lol. I was second guessing myself
Exactly what mine started doing! This was the first place I was going to check. Thanks for the conformation.
Thanks man! Great how to video as always!
most detailed and quick video. Thanks

@@skyscraper2116 I ended up putting my head in a vise and used a craftsman rubber manual filter wrench on it to get it off
So mine blowing tons of white smoke my seal on positive wire is bad and running the a/c the a/c line is right above and dripping down water and my assembly is sucking the water into my filter and mixing diesel with water not good took it to a shop they said its my injectors they asked for 4k to do the job so took it back home and do a 1hour inspection so i dont need to spend 4k just 30$ in seals and 1hour of my time and bang no more smoke i feel bad for the people that actually get ripped of by mechanics like that smh
