Adding 120 HP to a 20 year-old Diesel
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If you’re a big man, you need a big truck, and if you’ve been crowned the world's strongest man 4 times, you need a one-of-a-kind beast of a vehicle. KZreadr and professional strongman Brian Shaw (@SHAWSTRENGTH), recently bought his dream truck, a 2002 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 diesel engine, but we couldn't let him drive it around in the thin air of Colorado without giving it every opportunity to breathe freely and get horsepower to the wheels. Brian sent the truck to us in Azusa, CA for some strength training. Gale Banks and Brian Shaw are two titans constantly pursuing more power.

For sure.. I didn't even realize he had all of them defense contracts.. He's making american trucks faster.. And the border safer all at the same time..
Shaw doesn’t understand one word that Gale says, lol, but he knows it means awesome things for his Excursion, and that’s all he needs to hear.

Shaw did a video on his channel
I use Gale’s videos to teach my HVAC apprenticeship students about air density, refrigerant enthalpy, the gas laws etc. They almost always think they won’t get it down in the beginning but after watching Gale explain the way he does with the graphics and parts right there, they are shocked how they understand. Thank you Mr Banks. Would Gale be interested in doing some videos on how he stays so healthy? His diet, exercise plan, stress relief, life philosophy. Imagine if he showed his blood work, VO2 max and all his vitals and then explained them as he does with engines. He could get thousands of men healthy and mentally sharper. Gales mental cognition at his age is even more impressive than his unbelievable physical condition. I know that this is private and a personal thing to ask but it would be a great help to humanity. The modern medical system is the equivalent of black smoke spewing with the throw drugs at the problem and just telling us we are all shot by 40. Thanks Mr Banks for all you do. As a veteran, those 6.2 and 6.5 were death traps. You have saved lives.

Pretty capable power plant compared to what that thing weighs for sure. Too bad the trucks rott once they become deadlined. Seems like the mechanics can't keep these trucks alive as long as the older trucks and Humvees
I didn't realize Gale was so tall. To stand next to Brian and not look like a munchkin is not something to shrug off.

Gale is an absolute legend 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Banks is what true tuning is! He is a freaking legend would love to see them step a bit into the smaller displacement stuff as well! Beyond the data monster ect!

G. Banks has been a long time inspiration to me. The man is an absolute legend when it comes to making power from and ICE engine.
Gale Banks, he's the best, he's the man ❗️
My favorite engine guys and my favorite strongman. That’s awesome.
Mr. banks, you are a visionary automotive genius. Thank you for your research leading to the vast improvements in the diesel industry. You bring us stuff that we didn’t know we needed until you have proven that we need them because they make the industry better.
I use to watch Worlds Strongest Man just to see Shaw go to work💪
Great video. Brian is such a friendly giant.
I was so lucky to spend 15 years in the USA. What is making the USA different from other countries is the urge to innovation. Everything from cars, engines, software, etc, etc. I am proudly driving a Tesla here in Norway (EVs have no tax) but I still love to check in on what is going on back in the USA. Great video. It is fantastic to see all the knowledge in action.
Banks was building 1200hp 454 trucks in the early 90s he’s a legend in the game
Gorgeous, incredible job on that excursion!!! My excursion has the v10. 400,000 miles on it. But its getting tired. Its time for a restoration.
From 16:57 ish on for the next min or two were super enlightening for me. For one I thought cars kick out the tcc when you apply brakes to help deceleration but now I see that only builds heat 🤘🏻I also never thought of the clutches needing more line psi and being worked backwards. Like a diff is meant for strength forward, not backwards so much. Always learn lots from Gale. Last of the true hotrodders imo. I think big daddy is still around but not sure. Not a good comparison so wasn’t trying to do that ✌🏻
I remember the TA from the cover of a car magazine back in the 90's. That thing was incredible. Incredible speeds for a door-slammer.
Gale Banks is the strongest man of the diesel world.
The only thing Gale Banks lacks is marketing. I never knew he had so many products! Not just this video, but all of them. Love it!! He's the man!
I remember reading about the Banks GTA land speed car while they were breaking those records in the eighties. The important part is they hit 277mph in a stock body car, no extra aero mods besides lowering it and the obvious hood bump to contain the twin turbo engine. They picked the TransAm specifically because it had the best aerodynamics of the era. At those speeds aero IS horsepower saved, it’s an incredible accomplishment.
I love all the Banks stuff, including my 7.5l Stinger bundle on my '96 F250! Now, I'm just waiting for them to continue production of their Torque Tube headers.
Banks always impresses me, great video 👍😁
0:35 Damn, that keg glanced off his shoulder
I would love to see this type of series continue. Donate a build to first responder/military...etc...
YEAAA ✨👑💯 HE WENT WITH THE MAN GALE BANKS
I wish Banks still made the kit for the old School GM 6.5 Turtle diesels. I had a 6.2 turboed with his kit on there back in the late 80's, and sold the kit off my blown up 97 CCLB 6.5 TD, I still own that truck, and wished I had a kit to bolt on to it. Its Stockish, with a big fuel upgrade and cooling upgrade, still a turtle, but tows our SXS and hauls the slide in pretty good with only 225hp
Just saw Brian and his Expedition today. Both larger than life.
I wish we could get a whole series on the business history. Because I'm sure there's tons of stories from every product launch or how much of a pain in the ass making "the first" aftermarket turbo kits was. Cause it's easy to make something work on a couple cars...whole different game to make something for the general public to DIY.
A supercharged diesel is next level. I would never thought of that kind of combo. I bet that thing rips.

Don't care for Fords but that Excursion looks badass. Thanks, Mr. Banks and Mr. Shaw!
Monitoring boost pressure? That means literally nothing. Don’t you know Gale, it’s all about the MAD!
What blows my mind is how manufacturers don’t study this man and his colleagues engineering theories to make modern diesel trucks better for the consumer
This video just farther solidifies my LOVE for Gale Banks and Banks Power. Well done.
How fun! I'll tune in for more content like this.
Cool and crazy diesels. Awesome!!
Those tremor wheels are crappy chineseum. Banks dropped the ball there. All of his stuff is made in USA, so put some USA made wheels on that beast.

Those speed of air pistons and thermal coatings would be a game changer for all diesel, gdi and ICE engines. Then how about the 2-stroke Detroit Diesel engines.
Gale is the MAN!
Legends, both of them!
Gale Banks doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves for what’s happened in history because of him.
we finally got our 99 F250 with the 7.3 broke in at 260,000 miles. a few extra horses would be cool. been exclusively using it for towing our camper for the past 80,000 miles. 10mpg towing at 70-75 on the interstate.
Gale Banks is a national treasure, and I'm not even from the USA!
That track truck is sick!
Just bought my first diesel pickup a couple months ago. Gonna buy a banks intercooler and ecotune from them.
The best of both worlds.
That Excursion came out nice
Two super fantastic utubers .
Brian needs to put a MOVE Bumper on that truck! You guys did a great job! Absolutely awesome!
Very impressive, that’s why I put the Banks derringer, pedal-monster, I-dash and cold air intake on my 2019 6.6 at 25K miles, I won’t put cheap parts on my truck. Unfortunately after about 6 months and 8K miles with no issues my truck doesn’t seem to be liking the Derringer. You would think Banks would be all over it wanting to know why, but my first call to them didn’t give me much confidence they wanted to help. At first all I got was where did you buy it from? Then “unplug it and see what happens”. So I did and the problem went away, now I have no proof there was/is a problem until it resurfaces again. After 2 weeks of no issues I plugged it back in, 2 days now and so far so good. After my first interaction with them I’m not exactly looking forward to calling back and asking for more help, but then again I’m not famous.

In fact, we've driven more than 100 miles in Friday afternoon rush-hour traffic to deliver parts in time-sensitive situations. At no time should you, as a customer, feel "didn’t give me much confidence they wanted to help." We have ample staff to handle issues like the Derringer in question and would be happy to troubleshoot this and replace it if necessary. Please email us at your convenience with your contact info and anything related to the issue, like photos or messages, to our socialmedia@bankspower.com email address. Someone will reach out today.
