I'm an 85 kg guy in my 70s and a novice winger. I have used the Axis 1150, 440, 90cm, short fuselage combo in winds from 5 to 40 mph. No waves yet - maybe this Summer in the Columbia Gorge. The 1150 lifts early, pumps really well, and feels plenty nimble compared to my windsurfing kit. In 30+ mph winds I have trouble keeping it in the water, but it works. My wing quiver is 3-7 Duotone Slicks. I'm riding a 5'4" 92L board. I love my 1150; it's way better than the shovels I was using for wind-foiling. I've got an Axis ART-999 queued up for when there's enough wind for a 5m2 wing.

Nice video and I agree on different styles, and direction. I am 84kg and have two wings Slick 6.5 and 4.5m. Gong Flint 5'6" and a 1720 fluid foil. All works great for me high winds and light winds.

Very good insight to the various aspect of a change in span, run and surface of those two different front wings. The complicated and often left obscured data from the manufacturers can sometime be misleading on the real applications of their products as they try to create a hype for anything that they put on the market. Independant and unbiased review are important to create credibility and avoid that we fall pray to the manufacturers marketing expert. I am all for a standardization of real quantifiable data and these will have to come from users and people like yourself to create a bench mark to compare the various products. In my opinion lift and glide value could benefit from factors like this which apply to gliders ( the flying ones) a drop of altitude over a known distance and the lift is a value ( a force) that is also proportional to a speed thru the water. Maybe until such specifications are created or published, we need the type of reviews you so kindly give us. Thank you Fred!

Update(!! ): I got Axis PNG 1150 since it was the only foils available readily in my area and am overall quite happy with it. My level of wing foiling is 'I can jibe pretty well, but cannot tack yet' and the following is my experience with PNG 1150

The 1150 is quite a specialist foil for light wind winging or sup foiling small waves or dock starting as you say. As someone else has said i’d recommend you try the HPS980 or 930 which are more suited to winging in moderate winds. Also if you can get your hands on a ART1099 or 999 they are worth trying but not as forgiving as the HPS foils but with awesome glide and speed.

I LOVE my 1150! We have very gusty conditions that can vary from 12kts down to 2kts within seconds here on our inland lake. So I need the lift and the longer glide. I recently bought the PNG1300

I had 1150 to learn wing .. once comfortable riding I sold it as I felt it hindered learning gybes.. I then got the 1060 bsc and the 910 png , that’s my light and strong wind setup… I’m 110 kg
