TD price - market price. That is how I will calculate right? Let’s say I missed the trade for 3 days so do I need to calculate impact for 3 days separately? A bit confusing. We take TD price- current market price because that will be the missed P&L right? Considering trade not sold yet

You will always check the previous valuation price and current valuation proce and calculate the unrealized gain or loss of the asset accordingly.
Very nice video, thank you

Glad you liked it
Thanks for the video. If one computes the realized gains by using the current price minus the immediate previous price, how fundamentally wrong is it? Also, where there is a purchase, how do you compute the unrealized gains?
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
Realized gain if you are calculating for 1 particular day then it should be Current price- prior price. But if you are calculating total realized gain/loss then it should be current price-cost price. Same applies for Buy trade as well. Keep watching.
Informative and Helpful, but the video is not audible
Irrespective of frequency of reporting on the date of reporting any gain or loss arised that has to be accounted as unrealised and the price between date of reporting and date of sale has to be considered as Realised gain or loss right.
Very nice videos! Could you also add for share class divergences and FX unrealised ealized gain/loss?

Hello Mam. I have one doubt if Nav calculation frequency for the fund is weekly and monthly basis and if the security sold out on end of the month then how it will impact the monthly NAV? as we already accounted unrealized gain in weekly NAV
@TheFundAccountant
4 ай бұрын
Either the fund will be weekly or it will be monthly NAV. So incase it is a weekly NAV, and the security is sold of at the month end only impact will be from prior valuation to current valuation.
Hi Mam thanks for sharing valuable information it's really helps I have a doubt regarding it we forgot to book trade for particular day and that unrealized gain/loss for that day and how will it impact nav for that day
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
If we miss a trade on one day, we will not have the unrealised or realised gain /loss in the fund which should have been there. That will be the NAV impact.
Why do we need to calculate unrealised gain or loss ?
@TheFundAccountant
6 ай бұрын
Unrealized gain loss will help to calculate the correct NAV impact. Hope that answer your question. Keep watching.
So the unrealized profit and loss for dialy NAV calculation will be in asset side of the balance sheet ?
@TheFundAccountant

Yes, any gain or loss will be impacting your Asset. Thank you. Keep watching.
Just a query, the impact of NAV on the security selling day will not be cost-selling price, rather it should be difference in selling price - prior day mkt price right?
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
Technically yes, because Cost to prior days price has been already captured under unrealized gain and loss.
What will be the journal entries...have you also created a video on it ? If yes can you share the link please

Ma'am, Can you please help me to understand, Assume Cost = 10rs Unrealized gain =200rs Realised =20rs Profit =10rs (20-10) right? How do we treat unrealized gain now? And what is the profit?
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
You can have either unrealized or realized gain, cannot have both on same trade, so with your example, cost is 10, current day price is 20. Number of shares are 20. then your unrealized gain will be 20-10=10/share total unrealized gain is 20*10=200. You will treat this as unrealized gain on trade, which gets nullified with your NAV impact on price movement. Profit on trade will come in place when you sell that security and realized that profit. Hope that answered your question. Keep watching,

Hello Ma'am, so in second day of example, is is 54 change in cost for current day? Also is 52 closing price from yesterday? Please confirm there is bit confusion like closing price for today's or yesterday's day wise? Also day 1, 52 is closing price from yesterday's, right? Thanks
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
Cost price will always remain $50, On Day 1 the closing price is $52 and on Day 2 the closing price is $54. Closing price means End of the day price for a particular security, So current day closing price will be next day's opening price. Hope that answer your question. Keep watching.
I am unable to understand the what impact on nav for unrealised gain/loss, could you please suggest me
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
Unrealized gain and loss is nothing but "Effect of price change on the holdings", so if you have a security in the fund-the daily price movement for that is the unrealized gain loss, that will impact your NAV.
The total unrealized gains, does it always equal the summation of se quarterly unrealized gains?
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
If the fund is daily NAV, then the unrealized gain/loss will be calculated on a daily basis. Keep watching.
Hello mam I can't understand realised gain on that day how we will account.Till that time we will recognise unrealised gain on daily basis.on the day of sale realised gain (today price - yesterday price) first we should recognise right.
@TheFundAccountant
Жыл бұрын
Hi, on the day of sell the current day price will be the selling price. As you are selling it, you will not hold the shares till EOD. Hence as you rightly said it will be today’s price(sell price) minus yesterday’s price. This will be your realised gain/loss which will impact the current day NAV.
