With the indie publishing landscape, it is harder and more overwhelming than ever to be an indie author. I have made some choices regarding my self-publishing novels and my author social media presence to manage stress and focus on what's important.
quit social media 2024, dear writer you need to quit, write serial novels, indie author marketing, selling in kindle unlimited

This is such a relief! I have been trying to come up with a streamlined system for building my truban audience while I finish writing and editing my book. I can change how I do things to get more mileage but social media marketing is torture for me and not how I want to spend my time, but it seems necessary to promote and build interest. as an unknown debut author.

I hear you. It definitely feels like torture when you’re getting no traction. Reducing my presence to the places that work best for me is a relief

I was like that. Now I just want to write and do marketing occasionally. The most important part is the writing and having fun with it.

Absolutely. It’s the writing that we’re all here for. That should come first

I so totally get this, and I hear it from a lot of writers when I teach, coach, or edit. It all gets to be too much. So no wonder I was asked to teach a workshop last March on writer's overwhelm!😆

Yes, it seems that indie authors at every level are susceptible to burnout. Its so much for one person!

@@nonsensefreeeditor and it's not just indie authors. I'm hearing from trad and hybrid as well, especially since much of the marketing is now on the author's shoulders.

I love this video! I couldn’t bring myself to do all those things because just thinking about them sucked the energy out of me. Peace of mind is worth everything.

I wanna quit because it takes money to make money, I can’t afford to advertise, and I get maybe 3 sells a month. I am over it tbh. I get great reviews from my readers but the prob is getting it out to more people and that costs money. Social media only goes so far… 😢 I cant make money without sales but i cant make sales without money and paid advertising

That is exactly why I started the side-hustle in the first place... to fund ads and all the expenses that come with a launch. Check out my newest video, which talks about exactly this. So many authors are in the same boat and there are several ways to get the funds needed to keep the author dream alive!

I don’t use it often but I use printable templates for my planner. So once a quarter it gets used a lot… maybe not so much inbetween 😆
