How I went from always being late to always being early

Did you ever really stop and think about the affect of always being late?

Good points. 1. Being late communicates to the other person that their time isn’t as important as yours and 2. What you’re doing that makes you late isn’t more important than the sense of peace you’ll gain by arriving early

I still got my job, even got promoted just recently, life has been great, found myself an independent partner who makes me happy all the time, and life has been great after that disaster of a day.

Honestly, I am 34 years old and told I am a great worker. I’ve been fired several times in my life (or at least denied a promotion) due to the issue. At other jobs, I was recognized for my service but constantly told in a joking way “you’d be a great employee if you could be on time”. I give up. I started a consulting business where I manage my projects by my own watch. The pandemic catapulted my success because it allows me to meet via Zoom. No one will ever have to know I can’t show up to an actual boardroom on time 🤫

@Monika P Not so much. It eliminates the issue of having to backtrack several times when getting ready. For example, if I left the house on time I’d have to run back in and make sure I had my chapstick, phone charger, did I remember to turn off the coffee pot, etc. Also, somehow having the meeting within my home makes it psychologically less intimidating. I’m less likely to continue scrolling on my phone when I should be getting ready because I kind of tell myself “I’ll just have this quick zoom meeting and then go back to scrolling”(and the of course I don’t feel the need to go back to procrastinating, once I’m up). It’s like a weird psychological trick. Plus, at zoom meetings I don’t need to put on pants or shoes. That saves some time right there :)

So I was on my way to work, I was actually early to get the train, the train then got delayed, I said no problem I’ll take a cab when I get to the station, but when we got to my station, for some weird reason the doors didn’t open , meaning I had to sit on till the next stop for another 45 minutes, 45 minutes back to my station and wait 30 minutes at that new station for a train back, making me three hours late to work on my second day, which I was late to on my first day. We are creatures of programmed habit , unconsciously our subconscious mind picks up habits that we see repeatedly or do via conscious effort first, and a force like gravity called hypnotic rhythm that holds habits in place and the position of the stars and the planets etc holds our habits in together but what most people don’t know is reality reflects your thoughts/consciousness through circumstances and events too, since my habit is being late by programming even when I’m not late I’ll be late by default. Only way to stop it is creating a new Conscious habit for over one month, being early for over one month again and again, consciously. The pendulum has you tied up in its web. Good thing is the same power works for good habits too and reality reflects good thoughts in the form of circumstance and events too

I'm 51 now and have struggled with it all my life, in every situation. When I was a couple of yrs old, I had the measles and took about 10 months to get over it, lying in bed hardly moving for days at a time. Probably missing some developing in the frontal lobe it would seem. I don't know if that has anything to do with my not being able to manage time. I seem to take 2 - 10 times longer to do most things than others for most things. I also have always tended to get into my own little world, like almost in a trans, and have alot of difficultly making decisions and completing tasks. If you're clued in, you may rightfully assume that my house is a disaster area. Esp. having many interests, not being able to stick to just one thing. Quite annoying since I'm also a perfectionist,,, agrhhhhhh, lol.

Great Video!! You don't know how much I wish I could go back to the many times I was four or Five Minutes Late for Work or an Appointment, or even a Date with my Mom! You inspired a Great Idea. It's always a little hard for me to leave early because I don't want to sit in front of the Time Clock for 15 Minutes Early! But, It's Better then being Late. I think IMO if your driving and there is no traffic but instead a Really Slow Driver in front of you and you can't pass him or her and get around, even if it's still our fault, I act like a New Yorker, (And I'm not even a New Yorker) and blame the driver in front of me along with the other drivers doing the same thing when I'm frustrated. But Sometimes it can't be helped like if you like have a Dead or Weak Battery, A Train is late, etc, the Weather.

My brother in law was always late for everything. Dinners, family events, birthday parties...etc. We no longer speak to each other. I'm in my 50s now and have no time for this crap. You are absolutely correct, its a sign of disrespect and I'm done with it.

One way to ensure anyone to stop being late all the time is to set the clocks/watches at least three minutes faster (no more than fifteen minutes).

I had to cut off 2 friends because of that. It wasn't only the lateness but the nerve to being mad for me being mad at them. I felt besides disrespected sorta manipulated,so I put an end to it. Now we don't speak and I heard that one of them lost her job over this, and I felt really bad. But it reminded me of a conversation we had once when I asked if her boss didn't mind it and she said: "That's his problem...and he won't find someone as competent as I am"....guess she was wrong again.

The problem I have with being early is that I would panic and trigger abandonment issues if I was the only one there. I always feel like an outsider so I would understand why no one else would show up. I also would feel anxious about getting a table or not or if I was expected to do something to "set up" for the group by myself. This scares me so much, especially considering the travel to new places is anxiety inducing by itself since I don't know the environment. I'd rather show up late so that they're already there and I can calm my nerves a bit.

I really love my Mum thanks to my Mum as an African American Video Game Designer my Mum always be on time. I’m also very critical of my self and I rather be my worst critic than doing bad to people of the things I went through in my life I didn’t mention my life is a movie.😊😊😊😊😊☺️☺️☺️☺️🥰🥰🥰

It's not always about my is more valuable, but I leave too little for getting ready. When it's time to leave, I find out idk where my wallet is, idk what to wear or I don't like what I picked or I didn't pack my lunch box. I hate to be leaving without being completely ready but I always have less time to get ready than I need.
