    I dont think you need to reintroduce everyone each time, if someone doesn't know who they are they should watch the first episode. Just ends up with me skipping a lot of the video.

    Thanks so much for having me! I loved making these 2 games over 3 rounds, and I'm super happy with how both came out. It was lovely to jam against Salman in a head to head for this round. Trial by combat had a solid design base, I wish I could have seen the full thing executed! Thanks for liking my games! 😊 If you do a winners series at some point, I'd love to join!

    I think that for the final round, the devs should have a little more time. The last round always just seems underwhelming to me, atleast compared to the other two.

    Literally 2/3 of the finales has seen one of the devs unable to fully finish their game. Along with the fact that in round 2 as long as the iterate on your round 1 game stays we get to see two rounds of time of polish for the games while in the finals its one round thus the finals will just always seem worse than round 2. As well given round 1 is always a classic game it usually easier and less time consuming to come up with an idea for the game because it is so specific.

    Agreed, maybe in 72hrs, since that's ultimately how long they have to finish the first game if they don't get eliminated

    In Spherous' game, screen wrapping costs energy?? Nice! Great use of the theme.

    Thanks! 😊 I wanted to be as inclusive as possible with my interpretation of "everything has a cost", and that felt like a great opportunity cost option. If you're in danger, screen wrapping might help by getting you away from enemies, but it also might leave you in a worse situation if you're not careful with where you wrap to.

    @@Spherous Just wanted to say congrats and well done too. You really nailed the theme with every entry; While I don't mean any disrespect to any of the other competitors in this series so far, I think you've proven yourself a cut above the other competitors we've seen when it comes to being super creative with the themes every step of the way. Have been quite impressed.

    I kinda wish the third round continued to iterate on the game made in the first two rounds. Making a whole new game with a completely different set of restrictions makes the finale feel weirdly disconnected from the rest of the competition...and the iterative jam contest thing is what makes Ready Set Jam unique. (And I know a lot of people have pointed this out, but the winner shouldn't be the one to select the next round's restriction. That makes it too easy for the same dev/game to just keep winning every round, which is kinda boring.)

    What if, instead, the winner gets to remove one of the three possible restrictions? Then, one is randomly picked out of the remaining two.

    I feel there needs to be more of a hard limit on the theme and restriction. Several times in these, devs have missed or completely ignored one or both and usually pushed someone else out of the competition. Dont get me wrong, they have skill and they make great looking games. But if one person ignores the restriction for example, and then another includes it. Of course the one who included it is going to feel more restrictive.... by design. Not saying they weren't good games. Just think it could be more water tight \o/

    I have to agree. In round 1 the tree game really didn't implement the shop theme. And in round 2 didn't do anything around the new protect it theme (getting away with the idea that you have to protect the trees, but I feel like you could make that argument with any snake game) and instead implemented what was needed in the last round. Then in this round lost the theme again. It just seems almost better to just say screw it if you don't like a restriction The two games made were really great and I really like the trail by combats style and mechanics, but I do need to criticize this competition in that aspect.

  • @Spherous

    @Spherous

    I honestly think including the theme and restriction makes you think outside of the box more, and results in a better conceptualization of your game, often making the hard decisions for you. This leaves it down to execution on your concept then. Not using the theme/restriction is a recipe for over scoping yourself, and in a time limited competition, scope is VERY important. In other words, I think ignoring the theme/restriction makes your job harder, not easier.

    It seems like Salman decides what they're going to make, and then afterwards comes up with a very thin reason why it meets the theme/restriction.

    It would be nice if you didn’t spend so much time introducing the contestants and judges as that happened in previous parts so it’s pointless and saying what they added to the game as the people who made them do the exact same thing so it’s just repeating them, I spent like a third of the video skipping ahead I really like the idea of the show though, it’s really entertaining (in the last 2/3ds)
