A bunch of things: They're Canadian so they don't take themselves too seriously. Brittney is a gamer, a DnD player and she'll chill on reactor channels. She has even done reactions to UTA reactions. Contact them if you'd like to have Brittney do a video with you. A few suggestions: If you want to hear Brittney really channel Dio, listen to "Tonight We Ride". It's a cheesy, low budget video shot during Burning Man, but my oh my does she cut loose. "Awakening" is just a warmup tune for her. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4OqvK2DnNXam5s.html UTA just finished a concert in Edinburgh and the band went out to a karaoke bar for a few beers. So here's Brittney after a concert and a few pops, ripping out a Queensryche song just for shits and giggles: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZGxkprSqn6rffNo.html Note: phone quality video. On the subject of Tatiana and her growling, did you know that Floor Jansen, queen of the pretty metal vocals can get down and dirty like Tatiana? Fancam video, so it is what it is, but Floor with her previous band ReVamp, where she was in charge: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYKEx9WFdrfUhco.html Subscribed BTW

Yeah, they really hit it with that record, I loved them before but there was always an admitted little bit of intentional cheese in it, this album though they kind of threw out the cheese and it really shows, every song is just awe inspiring. Their "sequel" Abyss is comparable, so good...love their older work, I only heard of them because they're fellow Canadians though but this album just blew them into international superstardom...totally deserved it...

Metal music is now as healthy as it was when I was growing up in the 80's. IT is also very cool that this revival is mainly do to female singers. Glad you enjoyed this! And I really enjoyed your commentary on it. You picked up on so many things that majority of reactors just pass over. I wasn't comparing Tatiana to Brittney, was just saying they're both powerful in their own right. Like you said, they both sing in totally different styles. And once you get around to Nightwish, Floor Jansen sings in a totally different style than them as well. Those 3 woman are my favourite female vocalists in metal right now. Tatiana is a top core metal singer. Brittney is a top power metal singer. And Floor is a top symphonic metal singer. It wouldn't be right to compare them. Not everyone will agree with me, and I don't expect them to, it's my opinion haha. Here's a vague breakdown to give you a bit of context behind this songs lyrics and the album it's from - Apex(2017). This is a concept album telling a story track by track about an Immortal being. This is the opening song on the album. It is sung from the Immortals perspective(not all the tracks are), about being awoken in his mountain hollow from a 1000 year sleep. As a covenant of birth, the immortal must do the bidding of whoever awakens him. As the tracks progress, you find out that The Matriarch(which is played by the male vocalist in this song Awakening) was the one to awaken him. She wants him to find her four sons, so she can kill them and perform a blood ritual to gain immortality for herself(pretty dark haha), and his journey to find them. Each son has their own song about them on the album. The closing song Apex, is about the immortal going back to sleep in his mountain and it is a phenomenally written song. Their new album which came out in August, is a continuation of this story, and the immortal has awoken on a spaceship confused as hell wondering where tf his mountain is lol from the single Abyss. I won't go into the rest of the album lol To hear Brittney really flex her vocals, check out a song from their 2015 album (not part of the story i mentioned above) called Tonight We Ride.

First off, phenomenal breakdown of the song. Loved all the detailed analysis you provided and I personally love the pausing to show your music knowledge. If you are going to react to more songs by them, please don’t do what every other reactor does and jump around their catalog. It is a treat to start back in 2011 and work the way through their catalog to see how they have progressed as musicians and songwriters since then. 1. Dawn of Ages (2011) 1st video ever 2. General of the Dark Army (2011) 3. Dreamcrusher (2015) Live in Montreal 4. Tonight We Ride (2015) 5. Test your Metal (2015) 6. Awakening (2017) (reviewed) 7. Cleanse the Bloodlines (2017) 8. The Coward’s Way (2017) Lyric video 9. False Walls (2017) Lyric video 10. Earth and Ashes (2017) lyric video 11. Apex (2017) lyric video 12. Abyss (2020) 13. Through Stars (2020) 14. Legacy (2020) 15. Soul bound (2020) 16. Faster Than Light (2020) 17. The Wind That Shapes the Land (2020) Lyric video. Hope this list helps and keep up the great reactions and analysis!!!!

The drummer is using a heel-toe technique to play that gallop and he's just a beast. Britney is even really showcased on this song, which is insane if you think about it. The other insane thing about this is it's the album opener. Imagine putting it on to listen and being hit upside the head with this as the first track. The whole Apex album, a concept album with a story running through it, and Abyss, its sequel, are on this level of quality. As for them playing D&D, you're right. In fact, Britney Hayes, who wrote the story and lyrics to the aforementioned albums has a series of videos on her channel where she goes over the story song by song. In those videos, she has her library in the background and you can see she has some of the best fantasy and sci-fi there.

Dude, I love your analysis of UtA's musicianship! This type of reaction video, by someone who actually knows their shit unlike me, is always incredible! If you like Unleash the Archers as much as this video makes it seem you do, please please please react to The Wind That Shapes The Land soon! It doesn't have a playthrough video like Awakening, but to me it feels like an incredible example of this band's skill - with instruments, with vocals, with their creative process, and composition. The song is something I can only describe as a musical journey; it's like UtA had 3 or 4 different songs they couldn't choose between for that part of the story (yes, their albums tell a story and it's also amazing) so they perfectly mashed them all together into a single masterpiece. If you hadn't already done so, I'd ask for a react to Legacy... These two seem really under-represented in the reaction video space and it makes me sad.

Great reaction. Other than some choir, Britney has no formal training in singing. She started singing in a choir when she was 8, roughly when she started playing Rugby....yep Rugby. She was a history major at University of Victoria in British Columbia. She missed singing and being around music so much she joined a world renown choir at U Vic where she was one of 4 altos. (She continued playing Rugby at U Vic as well) Being Canadian myself, these guys are amazing, but power metal bands in Canada don't get much push. SO that is why you will see her doing interviews with almost every Reactor to get UTA out there. I can't say enough about these guys. Check out their new album Abyss, and if you want a great example of how little they take themselves seriously, check out Faster than Light. Keep up the good work my friend.

Awesome reaction. Nerd pride 🤘 I just found UTA a few months ago and am totally hooked. They all seem like really cool down to earth people (nerds like us) and total gamers. When you said "they're playing D&D is when I hit suscribe bc you're right! My old school instinct (I'm old too, grew up on Rush too) says listen to Test Your Metal next. Some of the 'metal elite' call it cheesy but I think its just a fun song about being on tour - about knowing those moments are fleeting and just enjoying them. Shades of Iron Maiden.

So, now you have a huge amount of work to do! 😉 All that Jinjer songs,, now also Unleash the Archers, Nightwish to come.... Let me burden you up a little bit more 🙂.... Excellent musicianship and insane compositions: Also like Unleash the Archers fom around Vancouver there is a band called "Spiritbox". They also can`t make a bad song, it seems, but as you are a capable musician yourself, try "The Mara Effect"! It`s a composition of three songs and therefore 15 minutes long and every second worth it, live or in studio! 😊🤘

You seem to be one of the few who I will allow to pause a song so much, great breakdown throughout, got my sub. If I can make a suggestion, listen to Blind Guardian, don't care which one you listen to just make sure you do their live shows at Waken, worth the watch just for the crowd interaction alone. Keep up the good work

Just found you today! (Through Pisces, of course, 😅😜). Glad you seem to be digging in to two of my faves, Jinjer & UTA. I was hesitant with UTA at first, but now I’m practicing singing The Wind That Shapes the Land by them every day. *obsessed*. Anyway… my third favorite that I’ve been into for a few years now is Be’lakor. No cleans, just growl, from Australia. Considered “Melodic Death Metal” and I guess that’s close enough. 🤷‍♀️ To me, it’s like if a classical composer like Bach or something was a metalhead. Their only official videos are from the last album (Still waiting for the new one to drop, WTF guys you said around MARCH! 🥺😭) and are lyric videos, which I like cuz it’s a concept album. I suggest The Smoke Of Many Fires. Enjoying your channel, it’s nice when the reactioner is around my age, the jokes/references are comprehensible to me, lol😜.

I've fallen down the rabbit hole of reaction videos, ESPECIALLY for Jinjer and Unleash the Archers videos. Few channels actually get a sub and make me look up more of them. You sir are one of those reactors. When you were talking about the guitar duet around 16:00 you put perfectly in to words what I feel about guitar parts like that. Now, I'm off to watch your Jinjer and Halocene reactions o/ P.s. Hopefully you can get a mic upgrade soon as it was a little distracting when your voice was cutting out.

As a fellow old timer, the power metal scene is filled with talented bands. Loads from Europe, several on this side of the pond. Glory hammer, brothers of metal, windrose, and I absolutely love Alestorm.

I loved your technical take on it. I noticed that your mic kept cutting out so hopefully you fix your noise gate issue so I can gain even more technical music knowledge from you in the future. My first listen to UTA was Tonight we Ride, then this one, then General of the Dark Army and now they have the whole Abyss album which Soulbound takes this to a whole new level.

Glad you enjoyed this track. It is great and the first track I heard from them. I have since gone through the Albums and they are great. great reaction and good info on what the musicians are doing and explaining techniques. Ok so others may have suggested what I'm about to. Wintersun : Sons of Winter and Stars live Rehearsals at sonic pump studios Epica : Consign to Oblivion live at Zenith Ayreon : The day that the world breaks down (This is a great mix of several singers and musicians) And the first track from the 9th studio prog rock album called The Source, All put together by the talented Arjen Anthony Lucassen Well worth a listen.

This song is from Apex, which is a concept album with a very interesting story which continues on their latest album Abyss. I would suggest "Tonight We Ride", "Cleanse the Bloodlines" and "Abyss"
