I think that live song doesn't offer Tatiana's voice at 100% because it was the last song from the concert and she was already tired (it's still great but you get the point) Teacher Teacher is incredible, maybe Perennial studio version! (beautiful video)

Ugh, such a CLASSIC! But KOE is pretty stacked with good tunes, too. It just comes across as simple compared to a lot of their compositions. I think that's what makes it so good, it leans into a more familiar pop-metalcore slot in the brain they usually avoid. This is NOT a bad thing.

I was already a hardcore Jinjer fan when I saw them the first time, and it was this song that really made me a fan. In that first concert, I was standing next to a stack of speakers and those low growls at the 4-minute mark of the original video shook my whole body down to my bones - I could feel her words, in my bones. I'll never forget that feeling. Whether they are metal or not depends on how they feel like answering interview questions at any given moment. Eugene the manager has said he believes Tatiana is the best singer in metal, male or female (I concur, personally) but has also said they aren't metal they are just "extreme music." Most fans consider them progressive metal. There is lots more from them. 3 full albums and 2 EPs with Tatiana on vocals (1 of the EPs was later expanded to an album). There is an earlier EP when they were just starting to build the band and members were changing constantly with Tati on only one song and possibly Roman on some but that isn't clear and Eugene hadn't joined and they'd go through several more drummers before Vlad came aboard - all of their drummers have been really good and Jinjer seems to have attracted solid talent from the beginning with the original male vocalist being quite decent, just nowhere near the vocal phenomenon that Tatiana is. "Perennial" live at Wacken is a great next step that is a bit on the lighter side similar to Pisces. Of similar hardness is "I Speak Astronomy" which is one that there isn't a top-quality live video for but the music video is beautiful, and is one of their few love songs that Tatiana says she wrote as a "call to the universe" to find someone she was mentally and spiritually compatible with - mixed with metal growls, as one does haha. Going back to the first record that Tati did all the vocals for, Exposed As A Liar has a live video in the form of the "Crowd Factory live DVD trailer." One of their newest videos is a live performance of an older song but one of their most aggressive, called "Sit Stay Roll Over" live in Melbourne - Tatiana seldom puts all of her coolest stuff into one performance of any of their songs but she does her growls differently in every performance and that performance of that song has belting, extremely fast switching (starting a line clean, then ending with growls for emphasis), and high, medium, and low growls all in one song which is really epic. And yeah, whoever does the recordings for their Napalm stuff is amazingly good.

@@OldSkuleNerd some of her biggest influences she's mentioned (and some are her tattoos) are Ella Fitzgerald, Gwen Stefani, Kylie Minogue, Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, Sepultura, Opeth, etc. You'll notice those influences in several of their songs. Influences with Jinjer however don't translate to copying. It always means paying ode to in Jinjers own style.

I would describe Jinjer as progressive metalcore or groove metal, but frankly no two songs follow the same formula. I really like bands whose sound evolves within and between records. Clearly they have some strong jazz, funk, alt-rock, death metal and punk influence. Classic elements of metalcore/deathcore that Jinjer uses are syncopated and aggressive rhythms, sinister riffs, and heavy breakdowns - but their song structures resemble technical death metal, and their tone and instrumentation, especially the bass, is more progressive influenced. The very equal split of prominence between the four band members makes me think of TOOL - every part can be analysed and appreciated as part of the whole story and atmosphere. The vocals are mostly in the style of death metal. Tatiana uses low death growls, mid-range screams, hard rock style belting, soft spoken word style or tight, nasal sounding singing. Their versatility and vocabulary of sounds is really what makes them so hard to pin down.

You need to experience metal with a bit (or a lot) of prog (like Jinjer). Metal isn’t what it used to be. It’s refreshing. 1. Twelve Foot Ninja - “Coming for You” 2. Spiritbox - “Rule of Nines” 2. Ne Obliviscaris - “And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope” That’s suggestions for other bands, but I recommend more Jinjer first! Dude! I haven’t smiled and laughed this much during an Jinjer reaction in a while. Your story of being old and dropping out of metal for a while is very similar to mine. I just turned 48 last week. I discovered Jinjer from reactions last September. If it wasn’t the day I first heard them, it was pretty damn close; I bought tickets to a show in October. Before Tatiana, I didn’t get growling and screaming (beyond Metallica and Megadeth styles). I jokingly tell friends that that was my old man, get off my lawn, thing. “THAT’S NOT MUSIC!” LOL. Enter Jinjer. Now I’m all in. Jinjer has not made a bad song yet. You can even go back to “Inhale Don’t Breathe”, and they were a unrefined, had a different drummer and extra guitarist, but were still great. Definitely, Perennial Live at Wacken should be next. I pulled over just to write this. Later when I stop for the night I’ll comment with other songs and bands I’ve discovered since Jinjer opened my mind. Do you just want band names and specific titles or links?

And as really I like your balanced combination of analytic and enthusiastic style, here are some unconventional but interesting non-metal (autocorrected to non-lethal, LOL) reaction recommendations: * Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls (LIVE) A bluegrass take on ACDC. Excellent musicianship all around. * Alamaailman Vasarat - Vasaraasialainen An one of the kind sound. Jazz, near eastern melodies, metal, with a clarinet as the lead intrustrument. I have yet to see s reaction on this on YT! There's a good live take available.

What an amazing group of talent. Even this over 50 ex-metal-head is wondering where they were hiding when I could thrive in a mosh pit? Oh that's right they weren't even born yet. Silly me. I can still enjoy them live from the balcony. lol

Good choice for a 2nd Jinjer reaction, shoving their more brutal side and more sides of Tatiana's voice, including done deeper growls 👍

Im with you on the old school metal situation. Listened to hair metal when at sea on Carrier in the 80's. Friend introduced me to Halestorm about 10-12 years ago. That lead me down a rabbit hole of female fronted bands. Particularly a fan made video of Daughters of Darkness.

Welcome back to the world of metal brother. The Jinjer army isn’t going to steer you wrong when it comes to Jinjer. I love Jinjer but I am not going to recommend a Jinjer song to you because I know you going to have plenty. I would love for you to listen to something a little left field. Here we go Ne Obliviscarus: And plague flowers the Kaleidoscope live in Colorado. This one will shock you and introduce you to an Australian Progressive Death Metal band. Your welcome in advance. Lol

Great Reaction. From the same concert, "Words of Wisdom" (Live, Napalm Records) is another epic performance worthy of a reaction. It is literally the very next song. The concert is the Atlas Weekend Festival in Kyiv 2017 and the band was on fire that day.

...nice cuz...this is the best band on the planet in my opinion....says on their web sight they are progressive grove metal with hard core roots or something like that....i found jinjer in the comments of a young family band called "liliac" about a year ago...ironic they were doing the dio cover you mentioned..."holy diver"...so out of coincidental respect i will suggest "Holy Diver" official video by Liliac...( the jinjer army will direct you to more amazing jinjer songs )....they are killer...the young female singer will drop your jaw.....by the way im subbin...thanks peace....

As an old school metal music enthusiast & practitioner, I never thought that I'll be blown away with nowadays music and musicians. Jinjer is one of them, but I'll share some other amazing musicians that I've been listening to recently, you might want to check them out too: Babymetal, and Dimash Kudaibergen. Great reaction by the way...!

Jinjer to me is in the Prog Metal genre. Other bands I would suggest from that realm would be 1. Spiritbox: female fronted with clean and growl vocals. 'Blessed Be' for mostly clean and 'Holy Roller' for all growls. 2. Animals As Leaders: all instrumental jazz based. Tosin Abasi is insane on guitar. Matt Garstka is killer on drums. 3. Between The Buried And Me: just wacky groovy heavy stuff. Amazing musicians. Check out 'Extremophile Elite' 4. Meshuggah: heavy, heavy, djent style. Very dark visuals in their videos. Check out 'Bleed' or 'I Am Colossus' 5. Mastodon: older stuff is more straight up heavy metal with mostly screaming vocals. Everything from the album Crack The Skye to present is more proggy. They use 3 different vocalists now that ranges from raspy to clean. Check out 'The Jaguar God' or ' Capillarian Crest'. 6. Avatar: not really progressive metal, but really fun. You said you like seeing the band having as much fun as the crowd, this is it. Watch a live performance. The lead singer can scream or belt it out. That's it for now. These are just a few of my favorites.

If you want the ultimate "Don't piss her off" video, you want Sit, Stay, Roll Over. It's from 2015, so old drummer, but good lord, that's an angry Tati.
