Panomies means a guy that has a lot of sex. The joke is not so much about Panomies himself but how the 2 neighbor guys admire him. Panomies comes and goes and the guys just think Panomies is always going somewhere to have sex

This sketch was not originally shown on TV, but it was released on a DVD and became a hit and is still one of the most known sketches of Kummeli.

Many commented that a better translation would be ”shagman”. This skit was banned by the director if I recall correctly but they showed this later. Many kids and teens (like me at the time) watched Kummeli so they though this would be too inappropriate considering the show was on a public TV station 😀

In neighborhood communities there's often these characters who spend a lot of time outside on the yard socializing and who "know" everything about everyone who goes about. Not uncommon that there's one worldly "player" among them to whom some "wingman" looks up to.

From Heikki Hela corpsing at the end you can see that this is an outtake, wasn't ever actually shown on TV. It was an extra on DVD and then found a life of its own on KZread. Really specific to Tampere, the whole city is just an ongoing comedy skit. Best place in Finland. Turku is also an ongoing skit, but it's tragedy, not comedy.

I could swear this was also in the show itself... Though not sure about the last one where he couldn't keep his composure :D Then again, I suppose I could be wrong, but youtube wasn't around the time I'm thinking and I ... don't think I had the dvd's yet either. It just seems so iconic it feels like a recurring joke from the original show

It's a shame English translation cannot adequately convey Silvennoinen's use of "nimenomaan". "Toi on nyt *nimenomaan* se panomies!" "Se oli *nimenomaan* panemassa tuolla!"

The two guys are like a couple of neighbourhood kids admiring this cool guy who even has a car of his own. Only in this case they're two very gray, ordinary men, and he's a more flamboyantly dressed guy, which - in Finland - is enough for rumours to start circulating! Actually they really know nothing about, the whole thing about him having lots of sex is made up by these two.

  • @hazeman4755

The most used meaning of "panna" is to put or to place something somewhere, but it's also a slang word for having sex. So a more direct translation of "panomies" would be "humpman" or "shagman". They used pussyman, but we don't actually know in this sketch if he's gay or not. There's is no point to this sketch, but it is funny.

@@LapinPeteYes he's a hetero sex icon but the story doesn't tell whether he's actually banging anyone or if he's going guys, girls or both. The last skit is especially two-fold in how you want to interpret it: either Panomies wanted to thank the guy by having him come along to get some women with him or quite possibly just to get some with him. "Oisit päässy panee."

This has became a classic and one of the funniest Kummeli clips. In addition, I think you would enjoy Reinikainen and Tankki täyteen. The last mentioned is about a family that owns a desolated gas station standed aside due to a new highway. Reinikainen is a spin off featuring the wise cracking senior cop from the series. Both were written and directed by Neil Hardwicke who moved to Finland from Britain in the 70s or so. This is the classic opening from Tankki täyteen called "The diet steak". kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHuT27VsqrGuZqQ.htmlsi=iRerTW_dWWWr2w9j
