The movie Kummeli Kultakuume is a comedy classic! Even on it's own right it is a good movie and worth watching. Probably one of the best ones ever made in finland haha

I wouldn't perhaps agree on that last part (even Kummeli has done better ones since) but I agree that it's a pretty good movie indeed and it's a classic for sure!

Jackpot > Kultakuume
This is one of my alltime favorite movies. I highly recommend watching the whole movie if possible.
"Jumalauta" descents from expression "Jumala auta" meaning "God help.."(us/me/them/you etc.) It became a way of cursing or damning things, people or incidents afterwards. Like many Finnish expressions a lot depends the tone or emphasis in the way it is said or the context of the matter itself for what is meant by saying it.

It's a really curious curse word, considering how in some languages they say things like "God help you!" or "Gott im Himmel!" when they want to _avoid_ using actual curse words, but in Finnish "Jumal' auta!" is considered an actual curse word. My elementary school teacher even considered it the _worst_ curse word. If I recall correctly, because it "takes the name of God" to use as a curse word, but that can't be the origin of the word in this use, so I remain baffled.

When "Jumalauta" is said in anger, it's meaning is very, very close to the English expression "Goddamit", even thou the the word is a sort of a combination of two Finnish words, meaning "God" and "Help" (Jumala and Auta).

@@osemarvin2847 Pretty much yeah. Like we often say, "Voi jumalauta sun kanssas..." can be finnish equivalent to either "oh god damn you", pretty much the opposite of helping, OR "god have mercy on you fools", as in they really do need divine intervention to save them from their idiocy. 😂It all depends on context but basically it is a swear word on its own too with no further meaning.

@@osemarvin2847 It's kinda like "God help (by smiting this utter bullshittery)" lol

@@lassesipila6418 The taboo-like part comes from christian theology... third commandment, remember? “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” ("Älä turhaan lausu Herran sinun Jumalasi nimeä'")
Kummeli Kultakuume ( Kummeli gold fever) is my all time favorite movie. I watched the VHS so many times the picture went out😅 luckily i have it on dvd like all of Kummeli's stuff. Plot summary is that Elmeri Hautamäki is locked up in a mental institute where he convinces nurse Janne Petteri Bromann to bust him out so they can go to lappland and get the gold that Elmeris father had there. When they are escaping they run into brothers Jönssi and Dille who tag along on the journey and funny stuff happens. If you can find the full movie with subtitles i would higly recommend it. Ps. Jumalauta translates better to Goddamn
Kummeli Kultakuume is a classic of Finnish cinema. To this day people quote it in daily chatter.
The relation between the series and the movie is that the same group has made both. But in the series there is a lot of different comedy scetches, but Kultakuume is a full lenght movie with one story throughout. Similarily how Monthy python had Fying circus and then they made Life of Brian.
I love Aake Kalliala, the guy in white swearing Jumalauta with his monologue. He's getting old now, but he used to be in many shows and films, and guys in my age probably remember him from the '90s comedy sketch shows Pulttibois and Manitbois. Jumalauta is used as a swear word and can be translated in many ways, but Goddam!t and F!cking hell are pretty good. Jumalauta is basically short for Jumala auta = God help me. "Kultakuume" basically means "Gold rush".

Great breakdown. If anyone is wondering, if it is a short hand for "God help me", why is the suggested translation not that? ~95% of Finns don't know the origin, and the usage of the word is slightly different, and closer to the other suggested translations Most common usage might be an exclamation "Ei jumalauta!", which is used like "oh ffs", "you got to be f-ing kidding me!" or even "oh heeeell no!"
"Mihin sä meet?" "Ulos" "Miks?" "Siäl o vattuja!" "... Onko?!"
The grey liquid the manager was drinking was Samarin used in dealing with heartburn.
When this was released on VHS back in the day, I watched it 7 times in two weeks (and countless times since then). Absolutely one of my favorite Finnish comedies.
Korealaisia n-sanoja... 😂😂
It's maybe the best thing Kummeli boys did. From 1997, takes place in 1984. Country boys go on an odyssey to Lapland, and find WWII gold. They decided to make "proper" film, and succeeded. Looks like it's not available to see with English subs. No blu-ray release, which is a little weird. Finns can watch it anytime in national broadcasts streaming service for free.
Kummeli - Gold Fever. Definitely worth your watch. Rough humour, some of which is barely legal these days. They dont make it like they used to.
Jumalauta works same way as "god dammit"

Mert - This one here, this is Jumalauta!!!
Kultakuume is the best finnish movie ever.
Watch the movie man it good! :D Kummeli Kultakuume! Modern classics of finnish comedy xD Its this made up story of these guys trying to find or stumbling onto a WW2 era gold treasure in a convoluted story around a trip to lapland (for the treasure). It's made by the same Kummeli crew and it's a bit later production (97) compared to the the tv series aired in the start of the 90s that you have watched the clips out of in these videos. If you want a solid set of just quality dumbass comedy that movie is perfect. Now that you brought it up I want to watch it again myself xD
The best roadmovie ever made.
This movie was the thing in my childhood! Kummeli has actually made a lot of movies, I highly recommend them :)
this is one of the funniest moviest i have seen. I can whole heartedly recommend this movie.
legendaarista. :P
Was in upper elementary school when Kummeli was still airing. Se used to talk about these skits always after the newest episode. Also some of the oneliners obviously stuck and we used then in every situation we could to joke to our friends. Just like this. ”Jumalauta” even though its quite common mild swear word here. Back then everyone knew you would have meant it as from Kummeli. Maybe one thing to mention that some or these are obviously collections. You might get 2 of these short skits in an episode with other skits on between.
Kummeli's best one is Panomies. Immortal shit.
Kultakuume is one of the best
This movie is legendary
Oldie but goldie!! 😆💯
growing up with kummeli and therefore it kinda defines the way my sense of humor is what it is :D
Kummeli Kultakuume (gold fever) is a comedy classic, I like it better than their newer movies.
That was the greatest of the Kummeli movies
Legendaarista 😂

Song name is... Perkele Saatana Jumalauta Vittu
You have to watch Kummeli Kultakuume. It's peak of Kummeli and Finnish comedy.
Best Kummeli movie. Definitely worth watching.
Just catch the whole movie, jumalauta!
IMO the best finnish movie from 1997. The script, acting, direction, editing and music is incredible. Hopefully it can be found with good subtitles from somewhere... or I'll have to take it up and do it myself for the whole english speaking world! 😅
In the movie, Elmeri breaks out from mental asylum to search for a hidden gold treasure in lapland. The two rather simple minded guys you see in this clip join him, as well as a nurse from the mental hospital. However, Elmeri isn't the only one searching for the gold. Former SS-officer Peter North wants it also and tried to stop the main characters from getting it.
Watch kummeli kultakuume its a legend😂
it's been a long time since I last saw kummeli kultakuume movie, but I liked it
I would highly recommend to watch whole movie. It might not be as funny if you don't speak finnish but it's still kinda wholesome movie about friendship and silly adventure.
Kummeli kultakuume is funny, littlebit sad and also beautiful one because the movie includes a beautiful music by piano. Nowadays, the people make individual humor videos in Instagram, at their home. So this kind of finnish humor movies are like "dead".
Jumalauta is Holy shit... Fucking hell... Goddamnit...
I would in context it's mostly used Jumalauta = "God damn it" as expletive or curse word little when things aren't going well. Yeah seen it, it's a classic in Finland.
its like GOD Damned " Juma Lauta"
Jumalauta is a general curseword & it literally means "God help me"
The Kummeli crew have made I think like 5 movies. I'd tell you to stay away from the bad ones, but there aren't any 😄
Their best movie.
Cult classic and arguable in top10 movie ever made in Finland.
jumalauta!! .. God dammint!
"Oh god" is so lame. JUMALAUTA is powerful word!
Kultakuume = Goldrush.
You should watch Conan O'brian in Finland.
Jumalauta Saatana Perkele!!!
Jumalauta=God damn
The good old times when you could say the n word on TV without anyone getting mad.
Kato Dillen aspenii....
All you need to know is Jumalauta
Jumalauta litersly means god help me, but it's more like curseword.
Jumalauta is used like the english goddammit. Straight translation would be god help (jumal = god, auta = help)
0:06 Only English person saying Kultakuume word like Kultakumi...
I actually think earlier that this would be nice to have.😅👍
You say "jumalauta" like true Finn🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮😆
Jumalauta (jumala auta) = god help, is a coarse Finnish curse word
goddammit
Jumalauta = g o d d a m m i t. Translation issue, cant always be direct. STORY: 4 fked up ppl end up together, and one of them has old cabin with hidden gold, they go on a road trip to Lapland.
Kummeli - Elämää juoksuhaudoissa Edit: actually "sotamies Väätäinen" or "Kummeli - kenraali" would work better on tube. I think they would be worth to watch.
Jep, good Word To use In thousands occupations, just pronounced More or less emphasis
Finnish is. hard
Jumalauta is, prolly, kinda short for 'Jumala, auta'! (God, help [me]).
This gave me some Hitler video vibes... Jumalauta can have some serious power into it. I talked to a muslim about it, and he said it is like asking a friend to help... but then, this could be interpreted as if one was commanding the God! But with different emphasis, you could say it in almost anything between innocent awe and extreme contempt.
We all need more context.
Jumalauta, in my opinion, is relatively modern. Jumala Auta (minua) would be God Help (me). Saatana would be the Christian Satan, but Perkele... that's pure pagan shit'n'all.
