That's because this Poliisit TV show is an advertisement and not reality. It's supposed to be fun and show cops in a good light. It's a PR show. So of course the cops are super nice on camera and in carefully chosen & cut scenes. But in reality many Finnish police officers are assholes and some even break the law themselves. They are OK by global standards, but that doesn't make them flawless or moral heroes or anything like that. So plese don't be as naïve as most of us Finns are. Cops are cops, some are good, some are bad.

For Geo's non-Finnish friends: hedgehogs are very much loved in Finland. But though they have many hundreds of thousands of years old ancestry, they are not at all adapted to roads with fast cars and modern litter. Their spikes are really sharp. They roll up to a ball as soon as they are scared and then stay immobile. Paralyzed. The officer needed his gloves, for sure. They often get injured by grassmowers, too. There are rescues and hospitals for them, where volunteers try to help them. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmhnxZeyo9e3nJc.html

@@airjuri That's great. Airjuri! Would be handy sometimes. I couldn't pick up a hedgehog, so I used thin leather gloves once, when I hand-fed six orphan hedgehog babies in my kitchen 🙂. Got them to foster from the local animal-hospital when their mother had been run over by a car. No milk, for sure! And I had lots of other rules to follow in my fostering. An interesting experience, I loved them. When they were old enough they escaped. Nature's rules.

One reason there is so little "serious" stuff in this show is because there are very strict laws about filming and publishing videos of people. In this clip you can clearly see even the guy who found the dog got his face blurred and he is on a public area. The cameramen won't even enter apartments. If something really serious happens, there is a high chance they could not publish anything about it even if it was filmed. You wont find much bodycam videos etc for the same reasons. Its not that they dont get anything serious to do, they just cant show it on tv.

I think the biggest driving factor in the US for crime is not greed or lack of self motivation. I bet it is lack of social security, healthcare and low standard of living. It is those grassroot reasons that drive the crime statistics. The most important feeling causing it being desperation and lack of self worth.

I think it was the philosopher Plato who once said, that people are not necessarily bad - they just don't see the consequences of their actions. So if somebody is so greedy, that he doesn't care about other people at all - he is going to end up ruining his own life eventually.
