Actually, according to Dylan's father who commented on the official video, Dylan's grandmother did not pass away . She just turned 88 on the 4th which is the day this video was released. Her name is Constance and is battling dementia. But Courtney's grandmother did pass away and because of the puedemic, she was unable to be at the funeral due to border closure. Oh and at 4:39 in your video when the elderly woman is holding a picture of a nurse, that is a picture of the real Constance. By the way great reaction! 👍

I have lost all my grandparents, 3 of them in the recent past 1 grandpa died when I was 3 years old and the other one of cancer 1 year and a half ago. My two grandmas died because of Alzheimer and dementia. I recently lost my uncle Rafa (2 months ago) who died of cancer. Its difficult to deal with this pain . But I’m grateful because They were part of my life, correction they are still part of my life. So my condolences to you and all the people who are dealing with these kind of pain. Spiritbox its an amazing band.

I don’t know how they did it, but hearing the song separate from the video hits the exact same. The vocals are beautiful and melancholic and tragic. And the guitar is somehow instant tears. I apparently don’t even understand my own suppressed emotions as well as Spiritbox does.

This song hits me on such a powerful level. I lost my mom in 2014 to ovarian cancer and my grandma the next Christmas Day and she had dementia. She would always ask for my mom and it was so hard. Ironically enough I just recently got into Spiritbox cuz an organization I volunteer for (HeartSupport) just had their first music fest and Spiritbox headlined the 2nd stage and they were amazing. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and I’m officially hooked on such a deep level

I am not surprised by your reaction. So many people can relate to the topic. We all have losses and often a time of dementia comes before the end. I lost an aunt this year, and my father last year, both had dementia, an uncle and a grandma same before, my grandma had severe dementia for five years... But this makes it special. You have to do it well with such a widely known emotional stress and sadness. And they did it perfectly, at a perfect time, tastefully.

I mean, this is, what music is all about, right? Invoking emotions, moving people, creating feelings, letting you interpret sounds, notes, lyrics, in a way not possible otherwise in this directness than with music. Sure, I dropped a tear when hearing this one, not the first time with Spiritbox, although with different emotional background. They are a great band, and I love, how people get it and respect their arts. Thanks for the genuine reaction and stay like you are. I can relate to this on many levels and it brought me to tears and I couldn’t seem to get myself together after that point. But it’s been such a long time since I’ve heard a song that has really touched me like that and Spiritbox did just that. Love this song. Just beautiful, sad, and conveys that sense of loss really well, along with the video. Kind of a different side of Spiritbox with the fully melodic singing all the way through the song, and a complete 180 from Holy Roller. I can relate to your emotion when watching the music video. I was the same way the first time I watched it just a couple days ago. I went through the loss of my grandfather a few years back, and saw how Alzheimer's affected him the last couple years before he passed. And unfortunately, my grandmother (on the other side of my family) was diagnosed with dementia about a year ago or so. It's definitely hard seeing someone you're close to deal with that awful disease.

As it says in the One Voice Children's Choir's cover of "One More Light", "Focus on the light that we know fallows dark days". A powerful depiction of Dementia/Aultimers, you lose someone before they die. All my grandparents had full mental capacity when they died, but my neighbor that I grew up living next to had Aultimers. After a song like this you definitely need to see/hear something happy. Dan Mirabal did a cover of "When They Ring Those Golden Bells". Or you could watch his cover of "We Three Kings". Also you could watch The Piano Guys cover of "Angels We Have Heard on High", you've never seen a piano played like this. For after Christmas you could watch the group my sister told me about last week called Brothers of Metal, ironically half the time their lead singer is a female. Start with their song "One".

My grandmother and grandfather have both passed away recently (May and November), and I'm sorry that you had these feelings creep up again, but if there is any consolation that I can give, it's this poem below. I don't know your religious leanings, but it gave me comfort. Perhaps you will find it as well. Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again! Henry Scott-Holland, May 1910

I promise, it gets better! Try & remember the good times. Side note, don't "watch" the video while driving. Tears are the best behind the wheel.
