This guy Gerriant Anderson wrote a book called “city boy” which is worth a read and came out when i started out the city. Its quite exaggerated by today’s standards but still a good read.
Nothing he said was a secret. Anyone could read some myths and go in front of Vice.

Could you do a video on the history of equity analysis? i.e. what the first sort of equity analysis looked like and how it has evolved over the decades? Thank you kindly!!
This is really 1980's culture and into 90's. Not really today. Is tiny percentage now. Was in the old boys network days when little education was needed to work in the city and more about your dad and independent school. Also nearly all quant roles can get with maths degree or engineering degree and Masters in financial mathematics etc. Not a PhD. Although usually PhD is usually more mature in learning and applying the skills as had more years to digest.

Not that I don't think the original video has any validity to it, but I had to look up this reaction because I find it hard to believe a lot of Vice videos. Couldn't they get any guy to put on a mask and describe what sounds like a fantastical combination of Requiem for a Dream and American Psycho.. but on the other hand the figures regarding salary and bonuses seemed accurate.
Well done for reaching 70k!!!!

Why regulate bonus? I mean, if the bonuses are percentage of the worth of deals closed, one would lose incentive to perform better once the bonuses reach the ceiling. It doesnt really make sense to me.

When's Industry ep 8 reaction coming?
Hi Afzal gr8 video mate, I think it really comes down to your experience. Some people will love the job and its quirks, others will hate it. I think to categorising it as psychotic is too extreme, but I see his point. I think industry and this in turn whilst dramatic, shows why young students should really consider the job and what it involves over just the raw number. of the pay cheque.
Could you do a video on where you are in your Carrie path- are u still studying?

@Pwanx0w
2 жыл бұрын
Having never lived the experience of a white person, what makes you believe this is "especially" true for people of color? Maybe the issue lies more in the fact you assume every difficulty must be due to your skin color, because we all know white people have Goldman Sachs in their DM as soon as they pay the bachelor's inscription!
@tube.brasil

I'd say that the situation today is exactly the opposite. For example, JPM has a trainee program in Brazil where whites are not allowed to apply. It's racist and against the law, but nothing is done.

I have to disagree where he tried to justify a crazy bonus like that, because in the companies the people who bring in the profit are not the ones eligible for these kind of bonuses, the hardest working and most skillful ones are usually payed the least, the ones who have anti social personality traits can get to the top to exploit others
Bring back the old days, much more fun!
You didn’t comment on whether insider trading still happens today 🤧 But then again, I guess Goldman Sachs wouldn’t appreciate you saying they potentially cheating the system

This is why I don’t like Vice. It’s so pretentious. His name’s Geraint Anderson. He literally wrote a book and toured around TV stations telling this exact story over and over to sell his book years ago. And here’s vice dressing him up in a mask with creepy music as if their investigative journalists have picked up an underground figure who’s not just doing his exact same old publicity routine we’ve all heard before.
Why did you cut the part where he told about prices manipulation? We know that every year banks like jp or Goldman are fined with billions for market manipulation..
