Remember in Return of the Jedi, Luke asked Leia, "Do you remember your mother, your *real* mother?", and asked what she remembered, Leia's answer was "Just... images, really... feelings." That would fit with what a Force sensitive child (like Leia) might 'remember' of a mother who died within moments of her birth. And she recalled she was very beautiful but sad... which fits very well for that brief moment they were together.

Additionally, when Padme actually passed away the baby that Obi-Wan was holding was presumably Leia since she was born after Luke. Luke was not right there - maybe taken away to be checked over and whatnot. This would explain why Leia has this impression/feeling of her mother and Luke does not. So maybe not really a memory but just Leia (force sensitive) being present in that moment filled with so much emotion from both Padme and Obi-Wan may have left a trace in her mind which later she interpreted as a memory. Leia was in close proximity/connection to Padme during heightened emotion and that might have been enough to leave Leia with a kind of residual feeling of her mother. Luke was away from Padme at that intense moment and maybe that meant he did not encounter that same exact moment/effect. At least that is my head canon to explain it.

@@gabytheonedd2695 These are really great ideas. I think that maybe force abilities are not all identical for everyone. Leia is clearly a leader and a crack shot and her prodigious ability at such a young age is to me coming from her innate force sensitivity. - not 100% she can't see through Tarkins deception, or sense Vader presence at Bespin.

You talk about Darth Vader losing it when he learns of Padmes death. In the comics, he actually Force Pushes Sidious into the wall, but when Sidious regains his footing, he unleashes Force Lightning upon Vader to remind him to never attack his Master again.

Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".

And yeah, leia did say she remembered her mother and that she was sad. There are 2 ways you can interpret that. 1. She was talking about her adoptive mother. 2. Force visions. As we see with both anakin and luke's reflexes (or more accurately, they see the future juuust a little bit before they happen, so it looks like they have good reflexes), there are latent force powers that force sensitives experience before they know they're force sensitives. Considering she's anakin's daughter, and thus is naturally one of the most gifted force users in history like luke - it's not much of a stretch to say she had force visions of padme when she was very young, and mistook them for memories, since she didn't know she had the force until her 20s.

Even if you dont react to them, please watch The Clone Wars and Rebels. Being cartoons, and me being over 40, i never gave them a chance til covid. Clone wars really flushes out the first three movies, leads straight into this one, and makes order 66 hit so much harder. Rebels takes place between ep. 3 & 4. Both set up the future as well. Some of the best stories and lore in all of star wars.

Great reaction! You should watch The Clone Wars animated series. It's amazing and it covers the 3 years span of the Clone Wars, and you will see more of how Anakin and Padmé led their forbidden marriage, not that it's the most important thing, but I know you will like it. Also we gradually see Anakin's descent to the Dark Side. And we get another understanding of the Clones, their value and all that is not shown here, where their seem like they just turned on the Jedi out of the blue. Most importantly, we're introduced to Ahsoka 😊

Hey Court. Such a tragedy seeing Anakin used & manipulated - then consumed by Hate. Anakin definitely had all the vulnerabilities (of course Palpatine pulled Anakin's strings for long time). Not everything in life is "black & white." History & Reality are complex & filled w/shades of gray. I see Anakin is both victim & villain. Very sad. I loved when Padme said "This is how Liberty dies, w/thunderous applause." One can parallel w/our own current events & complicated / confused world. Sometimes seems like we're being manipulated. Good sci-fi challenges one to look at our present & see a possible version / warning of what may come. Looking fwd to u watching Rogue One. It'll tie everything up very nicely.

The Jedi Council did not make Anakin a master right away because while he had mastered the Force, he was not the Master of emotions. Master Windu stated the dark side surrounds the Chancellor. The Jedi Council suspected that someone was using the dark side to influence the Chancellor. They did not suspect Palpatine because he was already ruler of the galaxy. Anakin was tested by the Jedi Council. They wanted him to observe the Chancellor for signs of dark side influence. Anakin passed the test. He was more loyal to the Jedi than the Chancellor. He had immediately reported his findings to Master Windu. Windu instructed Anakin to wait for him in the Jedi Council Chambers. Windu wanted to elevate Anakin to be a Master. Kenobi had said, “Anakin, it won’t belong before the Council makes you a Master.” There are two debated scenes in this film. Did Windu really defeat Darth Sidious? Or was Darth Sidious acting like he had been beaten? Did the Sith lightning damage Darth Sidious’ face, or did he simply allow his mask to drop and reveal his true self?

Nice reaction. #3 is most liked of films (1-3) because it ties everything together with the original trilogy. It’s a good film. For further continuity within the Star Wars timeline (and not release order), you should watch the Obi-Wan Kenobi 6 episode series. It takes place 10 years after Revenge of The Sith with both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprising their Kenobi and Vader roles. After that you should consider reacting to the film Rogue One. The storyline connects films #3 to #4 (A New Hope) very well. Many people like Rogue One.

... actually, in Ep. 6, Luke asked Leia if she remembered her REAL mother, meaning Padme. Leia says just bits, that she was kind, but mostly sad. Since Padme died right after Leia was born, this is a contradiction to what happened here at the end of Ep. 3, so it was something I'm sure the writers, producers, and all realized, but didn't fix for the sake of being able to end this movie they way they wanted to. There are inconsistencies here and there between all of the movies. For example, as much time as Obi-Wan spent with C3P0 and R2D2 in these movies, Obi-Wan has no memory of either of the two droids in "New Hope". There was a long time between the first trilogy and prequel trilogy, and ideas changed many, many, many times between them... some of the stuff being re-written on the spot during filming.

As much as you appreciate the backstories, especially with Anakin and Obi-Wan, you should really consider watching the Obi-Wan miniseries, which takes place between the prequels and original trilogy. It's not perfect - they clearly took the premise for what could have easily been one 2-3 hour movie, and needlessly stretched it into 6 episodes because they thought it would do better that way - but it's worth watching if not just for the payoff at the end. It really isn't bad, I just want to be clear that I'm not hyping up the whole show as being amazing; but it delivers enough to be worth watching. Andor, on the other hand, is absolutely phenomenal, one of the best produced shows in recent years, Star Wars or otherwise. The acting, writing, music, cinematography....it's just bangin' television.

This story didn't exist when the original trilogy came out. There are definitely inconsistencies between them. I'd count Leia remembering her mother as one, though you might be able to interpret the words retroactively to make them fit. Other things though, like Obi Wan not remembering R2D2 or C3P0 is definitely a big one. He hadn't become that senile after all. ;)

What you have to understand about Star Wars is that Lucas was really not a good writer. There are discontinuity with each movie because Lucas was changing the story as the scripts were written. The prequel trilogy was written with more care but Lucas did not keep things together so it is useless trying to make sense of the story from one to another. This is the reason why what Leia says in Return of the Jedi does not fit with the events of this movie. From time to time someone tries to retcon everything but Lucas did not care what anyone else did with his story. The decision to make Leia the sister of Luke was not made until they started writing Return of the Jedi. Lucas would change things on the fly and not worry that the story does not fit.
