darth WHO? | Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) | First Time Watching

Ойын-сауық

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is SO GOOD WOW. I had SO much fun watching this movie from the get-go.
This movie seems to really emphasize how good and evil are not black and white and how Anakin really struggles to understand what action is the "right" thing to do. It was so interesting to watch this journey and thought process with him.
I am absolutely shocked by the revelations made, and so excited to continue the series!

Anakin killed the separatist leaders not because he wanted to be in charge, but because Sidious ordered him, Palpatine manipulated both sides of the conflict, unleashing clinical wars to strengthen the dark side, blind the Jedi and come to power at the expense of political chaos, but after the end of the war, the separatists who want to separate from the republic/empire are just a hindrance to his power, so Vader destroyed them

I love watching people watch this movie when they have no idea about Anakin's story. It's just so satisfying seeing people be shocked when palpatine says "henceforth u shall be known as Darth Vader". But honestly I love this movie. I wouldn't consider myself a star wars fan... i enjoy most of the movies but I don't have any sort of deep connection to them, but this one is by far my favorite. To me, it's just heartbreakingly tragic. The fact that Darth Vader is just such an iconic movie villain, but yet when u see his backstory it's essentially a tragic love story with a boy who has been manipulated and ordered around his whole life. The fact that he turned to the dark side out of love is just sooooo sad. He was a beautiful young man with so much potential and good in him and yet his moral downfall came from a place of love and a warped idea of good... ugh so heart wrenching. I truly believe Anakin's story is one of the most tragic stories in all of fiction/sci-fi cinema. All of the star wars movies i find to be pretty cringy due to Lucas's writing and directing, but this movie is just so captivating story wise that i dont even notice it. I've seen this film so many times yet every time i watch it i still feel this ache in my heart for how tragic and sad it is. And also the order ur watching them in makes episode 6 that much more meaningful when u see Vader's story wrap up having known Anakin's backstory.

Had he used his passion properly he would have been a great hero. I agree with neither the Jedi nor the Sith fully, they both have good tenants and I don't think either side is particularly good or evil, but Anakin lived a life stifling emotion only to lash out. This is something many folks, especially those dealing with mental disorders experience. Why do depressed or suicidal people come to such a drastic choice in their life where they attempt to end it, it's because we truly see ourselves as our worst enemy and finally decide to kill the thing causing us the most pain. It is rage and anger that is never dealt with properly. Anakin never dealt with the death of his mother properly, she was not just killed, but brutally tortured to death, and he got to witness her dying breath. All he had was hatred for the world and love for his wife, yet he was forced by tradition to suppress both. It was a mistake that he never got the help he was truly needing. The thing he became was terrifying, yet many can relate to it. Anakin killed himself, he allowed power and rage to control, and even in his constant state of pain as vader, he was one of the strongest beings in the galaxy.

It's in that film that : 1)Qui-Gons approach is contrasted with Obi-Wans approach, showing how the latter was unprepared to train Anakin 2)We understand Anakins attachment to his mother and his initial linking with Padme, who he turned to (initially) for maternal comfort 3) The corruption in the Senate is shown, alongside the rise of Palpatine to becoming Chancellor 4) The arrogance and flaws of the Jedi is displayed 5)The childish overtone allows for an actual tonal transition by the time of ROTS (as well as setting up Anakins fall from innocent boy to conflicted adult) 6) Padme's character is set up, demonstrating her selflessness and humility 7)The Trade Federation later joins the Separatists in AOTC, and they are introduced in TPM There are some plot aspects to TPM that make it more self contained compared to the other two prequels, but that's only because it's intended to be a narrative introduction/set up to the saga

It wouldn't have been as emotional or convincing if he had left his mother at, say, 16-19 years old as opposed to 9, as it's ultimately more poignant. Plus, Anakins younger age helps complement the childlike tone of the movie. TPM is meant to lay the groundwork for everything to come, acting as something of a narrative introduction to the saga. It: - Introduces the two major plotlines (the journey of Anakin, the rise of the Empire) and major characters - Establishes various themes ( such as duality and symbiosis) - Offers insight into the workings of the Jedi Order and Senate - Has the character of Qui-Gon, whose philosophy and death is key going forwards -Starts off with a childlike tone to allow for a contrast by the time we get to ROTS

I watched episode 4 when it first came out back in 1977 and episode 3 of the prequels didn't come out until 2005. I am so glad you're watching this in chronological order. So many Star Wars fans insist that newbies should watch in release order to preserve the twist that Vader is Luke's father, but since literally everyone already knows that, all watching in release order does is spoil the twist that Anakin is Vader. Ever since you're Phantom Menace video I've been waiting for you to realize that Anakin is Vader and its was so fun. Also, here's some fun fan theories: 1) The reason Padme died is because Anakin was unconsciously using the Dark Side to drain her life to sustain his own. 2) When Palpatine says that Darth Plagueis could "even manipulate the midichlorians to create life" he is subtly telling Anakin that he was responsible for Anakin's virgin birth. Also, you should watch Kenobi series and Rogue One before watching the Original Trilogy, but skip Solo and go back to it later. It's okay, but it was intended to launch a trilogy and flopped, so it they never made a sequel, and it's kind of weak. Like all set-up, little payoff.

This is why I think chronological order is the best. With release order, most people already know the twist that Vader is Luke's father. But in chronological order, less people know that Anakin and Vader are the same person. It's a much greater twist for a newer viewer when they see the supposed hero of the story succumb to evil, as it's a much bigger and consequential plot point going forwards.

If you know nothing about Stat Wars at all going into it, I still think it's best to alternate between both trilogies -- either in the orders of I-IV-II-V-III-VI, I-II-IV-V-III-VI, or IV-I-II-V-III-VI. This way, the OT revelations are still preserved (albeit given slightly different contexts; the 'twins' revelation being first moved to the end of ROTS, where it's much more shocking, IMO), and you don't go into the PT already knowing its general outcome (thus making you less invested in its story -- be it consciously or not). It's like putting together a puzzle; the further you get along, the more everything makes sense. It also basically turns the saga into a sort of 12-hour version of "The Godfather, Part II," where you go back and forth between the journeys of both the father and the son and see how they parallel each other.

  • @onemoreminute0543

    @onemoreminute0543

    2 жыл бұрын

@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I'll be honest, I think it's just best to watch the films they were designed to be watched - they're numbered for a reason, you know? The idea of preserving the OT revelations is simply based on getting people to experience the films exactly how one generation did when it ignores how they work together as one 12 hour picture. The purpose of the twists in Empire and Jedi isn't for the pure shock value on the audience - it's about how they shape the characters arcs and struggles going forwards. And if you want to keep some things for pure audience shock, then I think there is a great dramatic irony watching the OT after the PT in that all the characters are (unbeknownst to them) related and cross paths. Plus, an issue with the whole flashback jumping around is that you jump between various tones too much. With chrono order, you simply go from light hearted (TPM) to dark (AOTC-TESB) and end light hearted again (ROTJ). You come full circle. Imo: Chronological order - - Release Order - - - - - - - - - - Machete/flashback order

The thing a lot of people don’t quite catch in ROTS is that the Jedi are pretty much the reason Palpatine was able to set Anakin up for failure so easily. Many people may hear Yoda’s line about “letting go of those you fear to lose” but the truth is that he’s not saying to have a healthy attachment, he’s saying you shouldn’t have ANY attachment, hence the Jedi code. The Jedi are not exactly the heroes a lot of people think, and it makes the tragedy in the final prequel that much more saddening knowing it wasn’t just black and white. The Jedi basically emotionally suppressing Anakin led to a lot of bitterness (especially from the war), and much of this you can actually see through his character in the Clone Wars. Also, knowing how flawed and ridiculous of a “lesson” that was by the end of the movie makes Yoda’s “failed, I have” line that much more tragic and understandable.

I get a good chuckle every time a commentator sees this movie and I hear "wait Anakin didn't just kill a bunch of kids, right?"

I think honestly that when you already started this journey from chronological order of the movies, you should watch "Rogue One - A star wars story" before jumping into the original trilogy. It's one anthology film that is filling the gap between episodes 3 and 4.

@@emme In my opinion, Solo: A Star Wars Story is a nice movie too. Please consider watching it after Obi-Wan series and before Rogue One

Also, the big reason that none of the lightsabers grievous uses are red is because they're all trophies from the dozens of jedi he's killed.

I have a Gameboy Advance! ( back to the reaction). You get a different revelation than going in release order. Some things will not make sense but please continue!

After watching the Clone Wars Show order 66 hits way harder. It’s more devastating to know that a decent amount of clones didn’t want kill their Jedi generals but couldn’t help themselves.
