HEY HEY HEY! This was the song, that got me into SB. Instantly loved the groove, her vocals and the eeriness of it all. gotta do Trust Fall or Electric Cross next.
The band in body bags parts came about after they got a noise complaint so they came up with that to keep filming or something like that.

Great insightful reaction, Chase! You always have a way of pointing out technical aspects of the musicianship and vocal performances like no other, my friend! I saw my friend live in Prague back in March, right as the pandemic hit, and they are absolutely amazing people, friends, and musicians!!
I remember hearing that the actual reason the band is dead for half the video is because they received a noise complaint half way into filming, so shot the remaining scenes with the band dead. Not sure if that's accurate, but I do recall hearing that somewhere.

Ryan Rizzo Was just gonna say something similar to this. I seem to remember it was a noise complaint from the drumming so they recorded half with the instruments and then had to get creative to finish recording the video without the instruments 😂

Ya we might be Streisand-effecting here, but I will say me three on hearing about the noise complaint. You can see that those shots are in some loft space, as opposed to the dilapidated house from the external shots.

When she dances it reminds me of the bottom dancefloor at Zeplins (South African Metal club). The song is great and her voice is brutal. Good songs to add to the playlist. Great commentary on the video too.
Great reaction. I didn’t know about that tweak on the very top of the neck of the guitar till you pointed it out. 👍😊 Next spiritbox you should, you should check out the Mara effect live at silverlake studies. Lots of good guitar work and it really showcases everyone in the band especially Courtney’s range.
Great new discovery for me - thanks a lot! This song is somewhat iike a blend of TesseracT and Meshuggah 😊

The horror siren background noise is like a calling card of theirs. They used it a lot in their first EP and a few of the songs from the Singles Collection. Really amplifies to the horror element.

Your break downs are amazing.....i love how you pull the song apart Spiritbox are an epic talent
You need to see Courtney LePlante before Spiritbox. She was the vocalist for Iwrestledabearonce. Yes , that is the name of the band. " I wrestled a bear once " , all in one word. React to Iwrestledabearonce - Boat Paddle. Her vocals are epic and the video is hilarious. Courtney joined that band in 2012.

An actual spiritbox session underlying the song.
that sound you were asking about is a type of clean guitar tone that tesseract and monumetns often use coined "milton cleans" as both guitarists are from milton keynes UK
Both the music and the video have a very strong horror film vibe to me

would be awesome to see a reaction for any song by the Band called Novelists. theyre so underrated. i daresay i enjoy them as much if not more than spiritbox. Monochrome might be their most unique and special song and hits you hard in the feels. sadly, theyre vocalist left during the pandemic and is focusing on his solo band at the moment.
Yes!! Mara Effect 3 part, Trust Fall, Bleach Bath
9:00 “OK. No. Wow.” 😂
That weird sound is definitely a slapped bass string.
Happy Birthday Chase! I hope you had a fun time (as much as you can in this shit pandemic, we're in). I really like how you react; you point out things I didn't hear. I'm listening on speakers and not a headset so I didn't notice the droning sound or the honk until you played it back. I also didn't notice about the guitar players strings. I wonder if the person who makes these videos is trying (hopefully) to work out some homicidal feelings he/she has? They are a little twisted, especially Blessid Be. I love it though! There is a video by Faith No More the song is called "Cone of Shame" and the ending is pretty twisted, and I love it. I'd love to see her and Tatiana sing a song together! Please make that happen...someone! Courtney if you happen to come across this please make it happen! :D Take care, be safe and keep rockin'!
For some reason I never used headphones on this song until now. Bad James. Bad James.
Going ahead and buying a Spiritbox shirt. Gosh they're great.
I love Spiritbox even tho i'm not a fan of metalcore. But they have that technicality and ambience to their songs that make them stand out and unique. not to mention i came over from IWABO. where Spritbox is basically a horror sounding band for metalcore they remind me of my favorite band Humanity's Last Breath which is another unique sounding, technical, band that has horror sounding ambience in the deathcore/djent genre. so if you're a fan of spiritbox i'd suggest giving Humanity's Last Breath a try if you don't mind opening up a black hole in your room.
This song was my introduction to Spiritbox. And talk about being hooked. It was SO different than anything I heard last year.
The Mara Effect Live at Silverside is a Must Listen/React and one of their most epic tracks
That thing you’re hearing is just a heavily reverbed guitar. Knowing Mike for as long as I have, I know that’s exactly what it is. Haha. Mike introduced me to SikTh back in the day and that got me into techy stuff.

Also, if you wanna see more of where Mike came from, check out his old band Fall In Archaea. He did a few guitar playthroughs of their songs, but Gatherings is awesome.
I was very confused with the car horn too...the fiste two times I heard the song on my headphones I had to take them out to make sure the sound came from the streets or the song! Haha awesome...
Sound at 6:10 if I had to guess the guitarist is probably picking notes past the bridge or behind the nut... but I really don’t know
Man, I love how you notice all the little details in their songs. It's what makes them great - aside from each of the band members being amazing, of course. I'll join the bandwagon of asking for the Mara Effect live session. You have to see that one.
Man you should interview them. They are very accessible .
@ChaseCarneson
3 жыл бұрын
Sounds fun!!!
You're hearing that clean guitar in the backing track. Mike programs a TON of stuff that plays in their backing track. What's great about it is when they play live they don't need a second guitarist to sound completely full. He just puts it in the backing track. Lots of ambient sounds.
I am looking forward to seeing some high quality live performances at festivals!
I love this video, and the reaction too... But man that is one scary woman 😅
The sound is from a spiritbox, the device paranormal investigators use to try to communicate with spirits. They use this sound (which makes their songs have that eerie/horror vibe) in all of their songs (I think), hence the band name Spiritbox. It is just cranked way up in the mix in this song.
For sure sure thought that was the same house from The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me but I also forgot there are millions of run down houses to shoot videos in and take album cover photos 😂
You should do spiritbox - bleach bath next.
As always awesome video. Would really be awesome if you could look into some more architects. I understand that there are like thousand different requests for you everyday, so dont hurry with it. Just a friendly reminder ;)
Bleach Bath is definitely next in the progression, but I personally would love to see you react to Trust Fall. It's a bit different, and the ending to it is.... oof, glorious.
I think i discovered them around the time you did. I just bought a shirt and the Holy Roller 7". Every fan will want you to react to ______ next. I'm sure you'll get to them all, but I will be interested to see what you think about Trust Fall, which always floors me.
The sound you were talking about sounds like a clean guitar string with a ton of echo on it to me.
Next up, without question is Mara Effect (1-3 at silversound studios) - This is an absolute must.
