Alissa used to do both clean vocals and growls with her old band "The Agonist". so if you need to hear more cleans from her, that's where you should check :) I'd suggest "Thank you, pain" and Their Eulogies Sang Me to Sleep"

Eulogies is my favorite The Agonist song!

Alissa using her clean vocals more often is what everyone wants to see and hear. I don't think it fits what Arch Enemy does very much, but she used them more often with her old band "The Agonist". I think Thank you Pain would be a good example where she uses both clean vocals and growls

Her cleans are good but her growls/screams are shockingly impressive. She was good before joining AE but after 6 years of practice they're even more refined and demonic. Listen to songs like Arch Enemy - Down To Nothing, On And On, or anything played live from the Will to Power album and have an eargasm. 😆🤘She performs live better than on the albums. It kind of shows her talent for screaming/growling, the way it comes so easy and natural to her.

Two of my favorite vocalists as of right now are Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis and Tatjana Shmailyuk from Jinjer because they can transition seamlessly between Clean vocals and growls

@@Eluarelon Yep 👍 Check out the Kane Roberts song with Alissa and Alice Cooper. It's got her more developed vocals in it (2019). She's both the light and the darkness of that song, dispite standing among "giants" haha. Just thinking about this detail makes me smile.

Now you need to check out the "wonders" (pun intended) Tommy does with Ayreon ;) (he has a band called Seventh Wonder) Your face when Alissa came with those cleans 😂

Karevik has an awesome voice, and the whole band sounds , in my opinion, even better live than in studio versions. Phantom DIvine is another cool song with another pretty lady growling in a crystal live version. Ps. Chase's face when Alissa's clean vocals come in... priceless!

They absolutely blew my socks off when I saw them live. Tommy’s voice I swear is even better live. I cried (overemotional).. it was absolutely incredible.

I will continue to suggest Ayreon, and I know I'm not alone here. I'm very sure that once you do you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!

Your face on the clean vocals made my day. This video was actually my introduction to both Kamelot and Alissa, and it's still my favorite song by either one of them.

My only gripe with it is the guitar parts in Elizabeth III, which are not only missing due to there only being 1 guitar live, but Thomas also seems to get lazy and actually not play them properly! And it's my favourite part of the whole trilogy, such a shame

That whole album is stellar power metal. The only way to level up in power metal is to have both Karevik and Britney Slayes with either Kamelot or UtA playing the music. That might cause a singularity in the universe.

Im so used to listen to the album version, that the cuts on the vídeo version annoys me a little. Great music anyway.

Kamelot is so good and has been for decades. I took my wife to see them live for our 10th Anniversary since it was one of the first bands we saw live together. They are killer always.

The "WTH" Face was priceless, this is one of my top 10 most loved Kamelot Songs

I think my dude here is ready for air drumming tournament of power.

I saw this song live in 2017... she goes from growls to clean in a way that leaves you 😲😲😲😲🤯🤯🤯🤯

I was also blown away by the clean vocals here. And they become better on a second listen as well.

She sang for Nightwish with Elise from Amaranthe back in 2012 when they played here in Denver, CO (instead of canceling the concert when Annettewas sick) . You can see clips of it from their documentary Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours. It was awesome being there for it.

Chase your face while you were listening to Alyssa's clean vocals was everything I wanted in a reaction. Its one of the reasons why this is 1 of my top fav songs by kamelot.

She's done a song with clean vocals with Arch Enemy called "Reason to Believe" if you want to check that out.

Did you know that Tommy Karevik is married with an amazing vocalist? Kobra Karevik Paige (born October 14, 1988) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She is the founder, lead singer, and songwriter for hard rock and metal band Kobra and the Lotus. She was also a touring guest vocalist for Kamelot.

Saw Kamelot live last year as the headliner for a show with Sonata Arctica and Battle Beast. I went to the show for Sonata Arctica and didn't know much about the other two bands, but Kamelot absolutely stole the show (as well they should.) Alyssa was there too for the featured vocals and she (and everyone else) absolutely KILLED this song live. It's one of my favorite songs now.

Reason To Believe is an Arch Enemy song where you hear her cleans super well, and I know she has done operatic covers as well

Yes! Kamelot and Nightwish! .. as we all know from Deff Leppard - "Rock , rock till you drop" .. Don't ever dare to drop my 2 favorite bands! I am happy that you like them too, cz they are realy special , not only for me and you.. they just are! :) So.. Nightwish army will take the voice for ths songs taht they want to hear with you, Chase, but i want join the party with 2 epic old songs of Kamelot with Roy .. Sacrimony is by far my favourite "Tommy era" song by Kamelot, it's up there in my opinion with stuff like Ghost Opera and Karma or Forever from back in the day but this one's really good too; probably time to check out some Agonist eventually. Have been lucky to seen them with Roy in the past, hope to see them with Tommy in the future. One of my absolute favorite bands out there. PS I would like to reming ppl, that Roy was not Kamelot's original singer either. I remember listening to Kamelot before Roy telling the friend who introduced them to me, great songs but mediocre singer. That same friend introduced me to Conception, Roy's band which was fantastic. When after a while Roy joined Kamelot (also influencing their sound imo) we both got our minds blown and actually went to that Kamelot/Roy concert together. \m/

I think (I'd have to check to be sure) that I've seen Kamelot (with Khan) more than all other concerts combined (festivals being counted as one).... And I only discovered them with the Black Halo! Can't wait for them to get back to Europe so I can see them with Tommy! I will admit, though, that of the various female singers I've heard sing The Haunting, Simone is still my favorite for that one, even if I can't imagine anyone but Alissa singing this song

This song is on their new live album I Am The Empire, and Alissa slays the cleans live just as well as here in the studio

She sang for nightwish in 2012 as well!!

“Pack a lunch” had me dying!!!! And, um, I was eating...

I saw Nightwish in Copenhagen with Arch Enemy as supporting band and Arch Enemy blew a fuse, shortening their time on stage hugely. I didn't think much of it then cause I was there for Nightwish, but man... These days I know it was such a shame. Much like I 10+ years ago saw Sonata Arctica with Epica as support and didn't know I'd grow to enjoy Epica thus didn't appreciate it as much as I should have at the time. I wish I remembered more of them from that. They're all hugely skilled musicians and great bands. Anyway, Kamelot.... Please do more of them! They have a bit too little live stuff IMO but they do have a lot of great videos.

I love the chord progression in the bridge. Its so counter intuitive and so much better for it. Yeah this is Tommy. His voice is the one I aspire to, as I struggle with the distortion thing. By the way, for anyone doubting/holding off on buying the "I Am The Empire" live DVD/BD: she can deliver live too. Oh boy, she can. In no way affiliated with them, but the DVD/BD is SO worth getting. Even if you can't react to it on the channel, Chase, I can still warmly recommend it just to hear how well they perform it live, and how it's been mastered.

The first ever song I ever heard from Kamelot was Ghost Opera, and after that I was hooked. Top 3 bands for me have been Kamelot, Epica and Nightwish for quite some years now and they all never fail to blow me away.

You should check the alissa old band “the agonist” 《thank you pain》!

I love this song. It think it was my real introduction to Alissa. I was like who is this magical being?! And she really is. Not just as a musician, but as a human being. Glad you got a look at her clean vocals and her growls. Somewhere on the Internet there is a duet she did with Delain, a song called the Tragedy of Commons. I’m not familiar with a lot of the music videos for Kamelot, but really...you can’t go wrong with any of their songs, either Roy or Tommy. Great video! Have a damn good day!

Ahh this is the song that got me into Symphonic Metal! It hit me so hard in the face when I first heard it. I’m so happy you like it. Under Grey Skies by Kamelot is also a great one. It features Charlotte Wessels from Delain who you just checked out. Really really pretty ballad and the live version is epic! Great video and thoughts, nice to revisit a song so important to me!

Had pretty much the same reaction when I heard her clean vocals for the first time. Jaw hit the floor.

Oh, Alyssa is a legit singer, not just a growler... You miiight want to take a listen to the agonists "thank you pain". Alyssa was their frontwoman before she moved on to front Arch Enemy. Thank you pain is.. IMHO, her best clean vocals performance. And the agonist is a hell of a band too :)

I love the choice to have Alissa sing a chorus, and I love the way she sounds singing it! This is a really great song, and it's just brilliantly structured and performed.

Another option for Alissa's clean vocals is:the Muse and the Conductor from the Karmaflow soundtrack, its her and Marc Hudson. Great song from an amazing album

This song is my ringtone ever since it had come out. Kamelot is my all-time favorite band, although Nightwish is very close by. I liked Roy as a singer just as much as I like Tommy. Both singers bring a unique sound to Kamelot. Love that you started to react to this band!

Alyssa doing clean vocals and duo's like this using her growls is where i place my chips. I have to admit - I like her earlier work much more but her voice is definitely amazing. Along wit many others here; check out her work in "The Agonist".

I really like how they kinda changed the style from what the rest of the song is (from power? symphonic? into more death? trash? Im not really good at indentifiing this) when she had first take of her growls solo, which much more fits this style of singing. Good call.

I definitely won’t forget this one.

The beginning of this video picked up from the video they released BEFORE this one called "Insomnia" the girl he was holding in his arms at the start he saved her in the Insomnia Video as well, and it is just as good as this one..... Check it out and you will see where they connect....... Most of Kamelot's Music, Each of their Albums tells a different Bigger Story over the rest of the Album...... so listening to the whole Album and listening to the lyrics will unlock the Bigger Story.... This album was just one example of that..... 'The Black Halo', 'Ghost Opera', 'Poetry For The Poisoned' and 'Silverthorn' are other Amazing Examples of this strategy with their music...... if you really want to experience that Full Album Storyline setup first hand, look into those albums FOR SURE cause I think you will become an even Bigger Fan of them by the time you are through..... Enjoy

Before Alissa and elize ryd, Simone Simmons from Epica used to sng beautiful songs with Kamelot! I recommend House on a hill, the haunting or even Epica's song trois vierges ft. Roy Khan (Kamelot 's first vocalist)..

Great reaction, this band is quite amazing in their own way. I just wanted to remind you that there are more Symphonic Metal Bands Out there than just Nightwish. You took a good step with Delain, but there are more, like The Gathering (especially with Anneke Van Giersbergen), Dream Theater, Rhapsody of fire or Xandria ("Nightfall" should be a nice start) since, as I have seen so far, you haven't reacted to them yet. And then i highly recommend more Within Temptation (you have reacted to "Shot in the Dark", which ist a great song, but this band has more to offer). While Floor is probably the best singer, Sharon is my favorite cause of her angelic voice (you haven't heard it yet). You can her it in their songs "Angels", "Memories", "Somewhere" (definitiv live from Black Symphony), "Mother Earth", "Ice Queen" or "the Promise" (also from Black Symphony). I also love them due to their constant changes which you can best hear in (only my opinion) "dangerous" (feat Howard Jones), "And we Run" (Rapper Xzibit is featured there and I think it is amazing), "Faster", "Raise your Banner" (feat Anders Friden) or "Trophy Hunter". What Else to say? Keep uo your great work I enjoy every Video you release and constantly find new bands throught your reactions. And sorry for my English, it's not my mother language.
