​@@grapeintokyo NCT 127 is definitely on the r&b side when it comes to bsides which are obviously the bulk of their discography. The experimental sound tends to only extend to their title tracks though. I love their title tracks but it’s their b sides that made me a fan

"Favorite" dance practice is a masterpiece and "Cherry Bomb" and "Kick It" have some of the most iconic choreo in Kpop. You said in your NCT U reaction that you've seen "Boss", but have you seen the dance practice?

I agree that the dance practices are a must. There are two different “Cherry Bomb” practices, a “Cherry” and a “Bomb” version. Most of us recommend the latter because the cameras are farther away, and you get to see the whole routine. At some point you might want to watch “Simon Says.” It might be a good idea to watch the mv and dance practice back-to-back. Welcome to the NCT universe.

My favorites b-sides of NCT 127 are their mellow, RNB and ballad songs such as No Longer, Back 2 U, Magic Carpet Ride, Baby Don't Like It, Sun & Moon etc. Their vocals don't disappoint ISTG (especially Taeil, Doyoung and Haechan)

LOL I find Limitless to be way more embarrassing as far as the hairstyles and the overt appropriation😅 … like… WHY did they do that to my poor Winwin???😭 Firetruck is just unfortunate styling, LOL but I actually enjoy the hair from Taeil, Taeyong, Jaehyun, and the general insanity and weirdness of the video😅that song also grew on me a lot over time… I had to listen to it without the video to be able to fully appreciate😬

@@grapeintokyo Yes, Mark actually mentioned that he almost cried during those eras bc of the awful styling. Taeyong had to step in to intervene. Their styling are much better nowadays.

The one you pointed out in kick it with navy hair is jaehyun and yeah he was in 127 since their debut and he actually was in the 7th sense so he's one of the first members to debut and i totally agree he's fine af and he's known for his talent and visual

The thing with NCT is that the only expectations you should have is that every title track will sound completely different from anything they've done before and that they are gonna look hella fine doing it. 🤷‍♀️😂 And really the only consistent sound that any of the units has is that it'll be different from what any other group is doing. The whole concept of NCT (Neo Culture Technology - neo as in new) is that they set trends, they don't follow them. A prime example is the groups debut, The 7th Sense... after almost 6 years it's STILL incredibly different from anything else in the kpop sphere. Having said that... when you hear a new NCT track, even though they're doing something brand new to them, it'll still somehow sound very NCT. Like, the freshness and newness is really the defining characteristic sound of NCT, I guess... if that makes sense. Though, the *storyline* concept of NCT is dreaming... or rather going into other people's dreams. A term they've used is 'Synchronization of Dreams'. I've seen where people have theorized it's inspired by the movie Inception, which makes a lot of sense. Since you like Aespa, be prepared for NCT, Aespa and all SM artists storylines to collide at some point. They call it the SMCU (SM Culture Universe). Also fyi... Favorite does have English subs, but KZread sometimes doesn't default to them so you have to check the list if it suddenly switches to Korean on a new video. SM has gotten pretty good at having English subs on almost all videos in the last couple years. They even have someone translating during live events sometimes lately, which is incredibly helpful.

I like Nct 127's b-sides the most: Lemonade, Love on the Floor, Summer 127, Highway to Heaven, Save for example. Their 2nd japanese album Loveholic is my favorite album of them. Nct Dream is my favourite unit, but I like all units too. I spent the most time getting to know and like Nct 127 subunit, maybe because of experimental music. But their music grown so much to me later. I really like your nct reactions. Keep going! :)

Favorite is one of my favourite songs this year - love the epic and sentimental chorus! The dance break isn’t in the official audio track, but it works well in performances (especially combined with the epic intro which can be seen in their dance practice).

So nct 127 have 9 members they used to be 10 until simon says era and after that winwin started being in wayv but there's no clear statement that he's out of 127 the meaning of 127 that this is the longitude of Seoul (were the group is based) it means they will spread their music from seoul to the world They have 1 Japanese member(yuta) and 1 American member (johnny) 1 Canadian member (mark) the rest are korean (doyoung ,taeyong, haechan, taeil ,jaehyun, jungwoo) Wayv they are nct Chinese unit wayv stands for we are your vision they have 7 members they're the newest unit their debut were in 2019 they have 3 members from main china (kun, Xiaojun ,winwin) and 1 member from makau (hendery) 1 member from hong Kong (lucas) 1 from Thailand (ten) and 1 from Taiwan/Germany (yangyang) Nct dream have 7 members they used to be an unfixed unit they used to have a graduation system but they get rid of it in 2020 so after we go up era (2018) mark wasn't there until hot sauce era(2020) he was the only member who graduated and then he came back. after chewing gum era (2016) jaemin had a health issue involving his back so he was in hiatus for 2 years and came back in 2018 with their song GO they have 1 Canadian member(mark) 2 Chinese members (Runjun, chenle) and the rest are korean (jisung,jaemin,jeno, haechan) And there's nct u they're a rotational unit the members who fits the concepts will be in the song Shotaro(Japanese) and sungchan(korean) joined nct in 2020 so they're still not in any unit in 2022 there will be a new nct unit

I found your channel through your reaction to NCT Dream and started watching your older videos too. As a new NCTzen and WayZenNi I really enjoy watching your reactions and hearing your thoughts while I'm still learning about these groups myself 💚 I'm a baby in terms of listening to K-Pop in general because I started listening to K-Pop around this time last year when True Beauty aired and I found Cha Eunwoo(he was the male lead) which in turn led me to Astro. I actually started getting into NCT through Favorite so I have a soft spot for that song. Like yourself, I was also intimidated by the large list of members so I waited until I was more comfortable with learning about them.

127 actually have a ton of japanese songs as well! (including limitless japanese ver.) in my opinion, their japanese title tracks are some of the best in their discography :)

NCT 127 is my favourite unit because they're the most versatile, and they all are all-rounders. They sing R&B & Ballad well. 127 has two of the best rappers in SM, and their vocal line is impressive, and they're all great dancers. NCT 127 has the most experimental songs out of all units. You should watch Touch, Superhuman, Regular English version and Highway to heaven English version

I really like that you pointed out their experimental side. SM is a company that is very experimental, since the 90s--which is, I think, very brave. Because doing so can lose people's interests but they still dare to give people the opportunity to expand beyond the sounds/structure of music that people are often used to. And I'm all for it

Mark timeline: The 7th Sense --> Firetruck --> Chewing Gum. So yeah, actually he was not as young as you thought when you saw Chewing Gum. It's just the outfits. If you watch Chewing Gum's music show performances, you can see the boys wore shorts but they had thigh muscles hahaha. Limitless is near to NCT Dream's My First and Last era (you can see Mark's noodle hair and Haechan's red hair in both MV)

Haechan and mark both in nct 127, nct u and nct dream. They both work nonstop as we all know nct is really active especially in 2020 and 2021. Hope to see they rest this 2022

The colors are definitely part of how they present their concept. That was a good catch.

Nct 127 is my favorite simply bc of their discography the group consists of great vocals, dancers and rappers so they are versatile performers, they really are great artists.

NCT is very rotational that’s why mark is in every group because it depends if the member fit the concepts so mark fits all that’s why he debuted at 127 and Dream. NCT U first nct unit that debut with 5 members (Taeyong, Ten, Mark, Jaehyun and Doyoung) next is NCT 127 with 7 members (Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Winwin, Jaehyun, Mark, Haechan) then after a while they add 2 more (Doyoung and Johnny) then this 2018 they add the last member (Jungwoo) to complete the NCT 127 with 10 members. NCT Dream is the third nct unit at first all members who turn 20 will graduate that’s why mark graduated last 2019 after that nct 127 is very active (world tour concert) NCT Dream promotes as 5 members only (Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung) since Haechan is part of 127. Last 2020 SM entertainment cancelled the graduation of NCT dream because there are only 2 members left if they continued it so they put back Mark on NCT Dream and promote with complete 7 members. Lastly is WayV nct unit in china based. They debuted last 2019 with NCT 127 Regular Chinese ver. 3 members of wayv just debut in that unit (Xiaojun, Hendery and Yangyang but the 4 members (Kun, Ten, Winwin and Lucas) you will encountered them in NCT U The 7th Sense (Ten), NCT U Without you (Kun), NCT 127 (Winwin) and NCT U Boss (Lucas). Winwin is still part of 127 bcs SM didn’t release any statement of his departure so he’s currently hiatus. Now they have another project as whole the NCT2021 with 21 members they also did NCT 2018 (18 members) and NCT 2020 (23 members) over all NCT has 23 members so check that out also. I would say NCT 127 is the most experimental subunit, which makes it hard to categorize it in only one type of music; while NCT U looks more hiphop-ish and R&B to me. NCT Dream looks more Pop, but they also experiment a little.

Wait until you see their Touch music video. It's toooootally different from their other songs. You can listen to their latest album, too. My favorite song from that album is Dreamer :)

"Is that Mark??? He's like a chameleon." Ya there he goes again being a Canadian lol. It's a West coast thing. When I was younger it was entertainment for me when travelling to go up & ask people "Where's the washroom?" (what they call it in England) I'd get this "deer in the headlights" face "A WHAT??? We have a ________ if that's what you mean." I was like "??? Washroom, bathroom, restroom, latrine, dunny, jon, can, loo.....WHATEVER!" That's just one example but it was always weird to me how much vocabulary people never heard. Everything we grow up with (language, cultures, customs, food, the WEATHER...) is a "cocktail" of so many different things it's impossible to predict what to expect. If you watch a lot of 127 you may notice that whenever they get the "Favorite NCT song?" question... unlike the other members, Mark's answer NEVER changes... "The current one." He didn't grow up in an environment that clings to history or traditions (except hockey omg don't get me started 🙄)…hence his abundance of hilarious blunders/mistakes, which is probably why he's just all about the "new thangs" lol (pun intended) 😊

if you enjoy experimental sounds you might like simon says, punch and sticker!! highway to heaven is another one of my favorites, it’s nowhere near as complex as other MVs but it gives me a huuuge sense of nostalgia and happiness (?) it’s just such a feel-good pop song. superhuman is my favorite MV visual-wise, it’s another pop/EDM-ish song and the editing and scenes in the MV are gorgeoussss. lastly, if you want a good hype/swag song that makes you feel rich af then check out regular! overall though 127 has done a lot of different genres and there’s at least one song in their discography that’ll fit everyone’s taste. sticker and neozone are two of their best albums so definitely give those a listen if you want! ps this is just a quick rundown of the MVs there’s others like touch (pop, sounds almost gospel-y lol), wakey wakey, and chain (these two sound crazier and some would refer to them as “pots and pans” but i call them masterpieces” :) a crowd favorite is lemonade from their most recent album, it’s not an MV but super hype

Also, NCT 127 doesn't just do hip-hop; check out their B-sides. They do everything! edit: It is impossible to pick a favorite because they are all so unique and all so good, but for your next reaction, I'll recommend NCT 127's "Superhuman", "Simon Says", "Gimme Gimme", and "Sticker" (warning: very experimental, so be prepared not to be prepared--it's amazing but may take several listens).

Sticker is a MUST to listen to. It may sounds weird at first but you’ll addicted to it when you listen to it 2-3 time.

I honestly don't think NCT in general should be in only one genre especially 127 since they're very experimental. Every comeback will sound different and have that Neo sound plus their B-sides will have a lot of R&B. As far as I know NCT are the ones started the experimental sound in K-pop. Hence their name being Neo culture technology; meaning a new trend. When 7th sense dropped in 2016 it was so different then what people were use to and then 127 with firetruck again listeners questioned their music. Rumors started going around that they would be the downfall of SM, saying "they were just a group full of visuals that couldn't sing," since at the beginning their title tracks were rap heavy and because of that they didn't even try their B-sides. Looking back now and everything they've accomplished I couldn't be prouder. Mark did debut three times in 2016. Dream is actually the last unit he debuted with in that year so he switched his style from R&B to Hip-Hop to Kids Bop lol. He's known as an all rounder, Ace not only in NCT but in SM in general. Even Lee Soo-man considers him the best rapper in SM which is why he's in 4 units including SuperM. Grape you pointed out three different people in the MV's as beautiful lol but it's common for NCT to all be considered visuals, every member will shock you in different comebacks.

SM has always been doing experimental music since like forever. 😅 Favourite is my favorite title track from NCT127. They have very good b sides as well. 127 is also my favourite NCT unit. They have most of my favourite members and best vocal and rapper lines imho. Not sure if you're into variety shows. NCT don't appear much in variety shows coz they created their own. To date many references made by Nctzens, their fandom, they turn it into their own variety show. And they funny as hell! You can watch on your own, under NCT channel. Older ones can be found under NCT Daily. Anyway, would love to see your reactions to their other title tracks especially Sticker. Very experimental!

Agreed 👍 I was so happy that dance break wasn't included in the actual song. 😅 A bit jarring although 🤔 it makes sense with the extended performance version

@@grapeintokyo yes even his debut in 7th sense, fire truck as well as in Chewing Gum. He has the most song credits among NCT member currently 56 this year. He contributed in NCT as well as in SuperM.

I’m obsessed with Favorite (Vampire) and looove Johnny’s talking part and Jungwoo’s part too. Their visuals... 😍 I love Limitless and my favorite is the Japanese version. The choreo when Johnny’s in the center is my favorite part. I like Cherry Bomb but don’t listen to this song a lot. The choreography is iconic though. Kick It was the first NCT 127 song that I watched and still obsessed.

i really felt that “okay??” when the favorite dance break starts

NCT127 does many genre that makes them a very versatile unit. Their biggest uniqueness imo is their crazy talented rapper duo Taeyong & Mark and their crazy hard choreo which I swear is to match their spit fire raps lol.. My fav mellow song is Focus.

The way I snorted when he said "oh so Mark is in this unit as well" lmaoo

Favorite sounds so interesting, this reminds me some kind of mix of Tvxq and Shinee styles, maybe that's why I really enjoyed it) My favorite songs of nct127 are Limitless, Baby don't like it and White night. Now maybe plus Favorite, I should listen to it more)

U should definitely react to Simon says and Superhuman...nothing can get more experimental than those songs

16:20 at debut NCT 127 were 9 members BUT one member has left NCT 127 to be in WayV called WinWin and another one took his place called Jungwoo so they are 9 right now.

If now there are 9 members but please do not say that Jungwoo took Winwin's place because it is not like that, they were 10 and the company never said anything about that, it is known that Jungwoo got a lot of hate (until now) for that problem 😫🙏

Bro if you are not into hip hop (which is the genre that most of 127 title tracks have like, fire truck, limitless, cherry bomb, regular, simon says, kick it, etc) you should listen to touch, highway to heaven, superhuman and a lot of their b sides because most of it is r&b and pop, and more recently title tracks like favorite or sticker are r&b too, 127 is a hip hop group, yes, that is their main genre and concept, but r&b is the other main genre that they have if you don't like hip hop 💚

3:56 Mark has many vibes Also u can say that NCT DREAM are the yongnests of the whole NCT so in their debut they looked so young cause the mv have to be cute BUT in NCT127 he looks like...SWAG cause the mv have to be like that

NCT 127 has the best bsides especially ballads and r&b songs some recommendations:love song,back 2 u,no longer,the rainy night,focus,far,love on the floor,baby don't like it, heartbreaker,white night,lemonade,kitchen beat,end to start (this for me are the best bsides)

Mark and haechan are in nct 127 and nct dream There is one Japanese member in nct 127 and his name is yuta

Best 127 b-sides are: Jet Leg, Sun&Moon, Running 2 U, Knock On, Run Back 2 U, Back 2 U. I also add Highway to Heaven(which has an mv but didn’t get the attention deserved)and Music Dance

if you want something similar to favorite you can listen to NCT127 - back 2 u, focus, sit down! and baby don’t like it

Favorite it’s actually the single from the repackaged, Sticker is the title track

I think “experimental” is a better label for NCT 127 than hip-hop tbh. Like they do lean towards that genre in their title tracks but almost all their title tracks are experimental and they try to push boundaries. If you want, you should definitely check out Punch & Simon Says, which I think shows off their experimental sounds very well. Sticker (their comeback right before Favorite) is arguably the MOST experimental sounding of them all and people either love it or hate it 😂 Personally, I didn’t like it that much on first listen but the vocals were INSANE. I’ve learnt to enjoy it but I totally understand people completely hating it.
