It's a common misconception that Bigbang only ever did party banger like Bang Bang Bang. They're very versatile and did a variety of genres. Your friend is correct, GD participated in most if not all of songwriting/productions of Bigbang's songs. GD is still the number one idol with most copyrighted songs under his belt with 172 songs. He composed, produced, and wrote the songs not only for Bigbang and it's members for their solo projects, but also for other artists (like IU's Pallete, and Uhm Junghwa's Party, IKON's I Miss You So Bad, 2NE1's Good to You, and many more). Bang Bang Bang is actually produced by Teddy and GD. I love watching you get shy and cringe watching Let's Not Fall In Love. When that dropped and I saw it the first time, I couldn't sleep for 3 days straight because of GD hahahahahah. Please react more to them and love your reaction, I really enjoyed it.

They are the blueprint of Kpop. The Kings, The Legend without them Kpop will not be what it is today. Yes, They are the one who built up YG what it is today. GD produced almost all their songs along with Teddy. They don't have specific genre, they are the genre.. They have more ballad songs than hype songs. Yes, They are all very good at singing. It's always interesting when 3rd and 4th gen stans watch BigBang videos and say "this sounds so.....kpop." That's the thing. You have that backward. Kpop sounds so......this. BigBang was a major catalyst in the change of kpop from ballads and bright, standard pop sounds to heavy EDM and hiphop. That kpop sound you know now? BigBang and 2NE1 did that.

GD was the 1st idol ever to write and compose songs.. the new gen just follow the footsteps of GD...he is bigbang producer he produces songs for bigbang if you check all his solo album it was all credited to him and he also gives songs to members for their solo he rarely do collab to artist outside yge so i think IU is the 1st kpop idol to do collab with him... you better check their bigbang concert in japan and also their solo’s..

Before 1st Gen, when Seo Taji and the boys existed they considered em artists and not idols that's why idol is a derogatory term in the Korean artist community as idols were manufactured dolls made to sing dance and act like the company asks em to. Big Bang molded kpop. They were the first one incorporated rap into kpop if you’re going to watch their very first video, they were the grp who popularized it. 👍 and yes, gd wrote most of their songs. Which started the trend of idols getting into production too.

Newer kpop fans (3rd/4th gen.), thought that BIGBANG only make club banger or what they refer as "noise" songs bcoz they only knew/heard Bang³ but not the other songs of BB. Bigbang discography is so diverse that even in just one album you can already have numerous genre that even in kpop, no one ever release that kind of genre. They only have like more or less 70 songs in their whole 15 years in the industry but the genre's they've released and experimented was so many already. Their MADE album is the most diverse album I've ever heard. Yes, GDragon is one of the producer of all BB's songs even included the solo's of other members. GD usually only work with Teddy and 1 other in house producer in YGE. And I dare you to check out that lyric version of Let's Not Fall In Love. We'll see if you will still feel the same way if you will know the subbed lyrics of it. Lol

What I dislike about newer fans is when they talk ill and downgrade OG groups just because they are not well known in west as they think.

I think all of them that I have seen or heard are iconic. Especially G-DRAGON is exceptional. I think GD is the one who really created most of the mainstay of K-POP today, such as group-specific penlights, fashion styles, hairstyles, hair colors, and self-produced songs and choreography, which are now commonplace. ..And they have too much influence outside the category of K-POP. I live in Japan, but many Japanese (especially idols) seem to be directly influenced by BIGBANG or indirectly through other k-pop idols. I think the expression "They have made many achievements as K-POP ARTISTS" is also correct. I'm just here to remind everyone that BB started out making hip-hop and R&B! And their old songs are ICONIC

I am a big fan of Looser and Sober and We Like to Party. The MADE album is crazy great. I like Blue, Bad Boy, Lies, there really are so may great songs. The solos are also amazing If you like Taeyang (pink hair and voice you like) definitely listen to Eyes, Nose, Lips Any solo song by G-Dragon is the right choice, and As a fan of T.O.P, I think his solos are so creative. I hope you check out more.

Not offend that you see it as a "really kpop and YG thing"... maybe i got used to it cause many people said that too.. but I'm proud to say that what makes me into them is because of their Vocals... Fashion, creativity, personalities, etc it just Follows... For me, Bigbang vocals is a top tier it became my standard in kpop... It's amazing how each members has it's own signature vocals like you can easily distinguish who's singing.. Also hope you try to watch the LIVE PERFORMANCES coz their stage presence is so great how they hype & communicate with the audience is amazing...

The reason why it sounds ‘very kpop’ is because they started this trend that’s around right now. This actually sounded different from other Kpop songs back then. You can check early 2nd gen like DBSK, SS501 and Super Junior to know how Kpop used to sound like before Bigbang. Regarding the production process: G Dragon is in charge for almost everything in Bigbang (music, lyrics, concept, fashion, MVs, stage, performance, tours). He gathers other member’s feedback, incorporate them and communicate it to all parties involved (the stylist, stage director, etc). All of them can produce music, but usually for their own solos, not for Bigbang. T.O.P always writes his own rap. Both G Dragon and Teddy are the producers of Made (this album), but if we’re talking about YG Producer, I think Choice37 and Kush are more involved in Bigbang’s music and their solos. Teddy was more in charge for the girls in YG, especially 2NE1.

Bigbang is an anomaly in kpop. While kpop groups nowadays churn out music like they are made from a factory line, a 15-year group like Bigbang has only 3 full albums and some mini-albums. They only have 67 songs in their discography while I know a kpop group that released 60 songs in 1 year. They tend to release a group album on average every 3-4 years then they work on their solo careers, solo albums and solo tours in between since they are also successful soloist. I read a lot of people tell you about their live performances. I do agree with them. Live stage is their playground. They just have that command on stage. Its funny they don't even dance like what kpop boy groups do nowadays but they always come to entertain.

If you want to see an earlier version of that whole 'making you blush' concept, try Super Junior's No Other. It's cuteness personified. For earlier Bigbang songs try La La La, Lies, Fantastic Baby and Bad Boy. Love Song, Monster and Blue are excellent as well.

23:08 I'd say the first group that was "cheesy," as far as I'm aware, dates back to HOT - Candy from 1st gen. Big Bang in my opinion takes influences from 1st gen groups like Seo Taiji & Boys and DJ DOC. Big Bang even covered a DJ DOC song called Run To You.

BIGBANG is a very versatile group... and they're undoubtedly very talented. They are the kpop kings for a reason. This year, after 5 years of hiatus, they dropped a song for us fans, VIPs, and they went back into their wormhole again, but look how it easily conquered all charts and no.1s at that. They win music shows without them promoting and without them physically...thanks to all my fellow vips who gave STILL LIFE the awards it deserved. p.s the scandal pshhhs *roll eyes * bullsht... they did our Seungri dirty.

Watch their live performances. 2015 MAMA is the most recommended. Bigbang specifically GD are the first KPop idols to be involved in producing their own songs. I always comment this but it was my experience, I've been in many kpop concerts all of them were really good but definitely Big Bang's concert back in 2015 was the top of the top they are so fk good on live, the concert last 2hrs 30min and OMG what an experience that I will never forget. Bigbang has wide musical spectrum. They touch different genres and music experimentals which made kpop today. That is why they are globally known as the OG Royalty for being the Kings of Kpop. They are the reason why western music industry look forward to Kpop since 2010 however, Yang Goon (founder of YG Entertainment where Big Bang, 2NE1, Blackpink belongs) reprimand them from writing english songs and stay with korean core. The goal was to let the western side of the world to appreciate and recognize Korean Music and not Americanize it just to be accepted by them in which 3rd gen and new gen of Kpop today ripped what they sowed. Thank you for the reaction. I found Bigbang after I found BTS, I now can't stop listening to Bigbang, I found them in 2017 when they all went into military service. You should listen to their latest release, it's beautiful.
