There's a lot of first and impactful achievements BIGBANG did for kpop that new gens enjoy now. This is why they are the KINGS OF KPOP. It's not a fan-made title but it's the influence and achievement they had for kpop. Like true kings who ruled their kingdoms.

Fun Fact, Maknae was first used by Bigbang because Seunguri and TOP have the same first name. Maknae means younger and Senguri was the younger of the two. Everyone took that nickname and ran with it. Now it just means the youngest person in a kpop group.

The description of HAVING A SUCCESSFUL SOLO CAREER has a story behind that. Before, going solo means the end of the group. The group needs to be disbanded so members can go solo. That's why members with solo careers get blamed by fans for their fave group's disbandment. . . So BIGBANG having successful solo careers without disbanding is very meaningful and impactful for every kpop idol then and now. Especially those who belong to kpop groups. That gave them hope or reason to continue as a group while pursuing their solo careers. It saved kpop fans from suffering heartbreak. Now kpop fans can enjoy their fave group members having both group and solo careers. And it's all thanks to BIGBANG for breaking a lot of stereotypes or traditions including this one. Many new kpop stans don't really understand the gravity of this achievement coz they don't have to experience it nowadays. They can't relate. Coz their idols could just release a solo song without a problem like disbandment. But for us old gen kpop stans, it's suffocating. Coz you see, not all idols that pursue their solo careers became successful. Not all members get to pursue their solo careers. So for us old gen kpop fans, solo career is a death sentence. A very dangerous risk that we don't want our idols to take if it would mean disbandment and career death for other members. At the same time, we also don't want our idols to be stagnant. That we also want them to grow as musicians. So we are torn and scared. So when BIGBANG went out there having their solo careers without disbandment, and the fact that not only 1 or 2 members got the successful solo career but ALL 5 OF THEM, it was hope, a saving grace for every kpop group out there. It was a light in the midst of darkness for kpop idols and kpop fans.

T.O.P is actually going to the moon, the plan is for the space mission to take place this year but idk if that’s still the case. He‘ll also be in season 2 of Squid Game, reunited with Lee Byunghun after starring in Iris together!

Big Bang discography has the groups album's in korean and japanese but then there also sub-units GD&TOP, GDxTaeyang, and then all of the solo stuff. The reason Daesung wasn't in the MAMA solo performance is I believe all of his solo stuff that year was Japanese so it wasn't performed at MAMA. Daesung is insanely popular in Japan so that's where he focuses for his solo stuff. I adore Big Bang and I really can't express how fully I love them and how much I miss their presence in kpop. It really doesn't feel the same to me. p.s. You can call T.O.P, top or t.o.p. interchangeably...no one cares. Even the members call him top.

group where all its member succesful as a soloist..b4, most idol choose to left d group/disband in order to pursue solo career 4)gd/gdragon is d pioneer of airport fashion back in 2009 & till now..most of big house of fashion brands choose kpop idols as their ga bc of gd..he's d only asian male as d muse channel, selected by d karl himself..lv evn sponsored gd in 2009 (d only korean artist ws sponsored by luxurious brand at that time) not only gd is known as kpop king but also fashionista king 5)most of bb mv r contratry to "conservative" sokor..they appear half naked,take a piss & shit, smooking & interact ambigiously with their female partners..most idol mv avoid doing all these things cause afraid/avoid d critisms from their fans & general public..back in d days,fans consider Here is an extensively long introduction and brief history of Bigbang and a bit of random kpop fan culture rant at the end as I got a bit carried away with my novel here but I'll just leave it there. Hehe. They debuted in 2006 from YG Entertainment. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. They grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before streaming, KZread and social media were huge like they are now. They are really diverse musically as they really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to ballads to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen legends). They have a hand in everything regarding their music, writing and producing (kpop idols didn't have any creative freedom back in the day, the companies did everything. Bigbang and namely GD changed that), they fund their concert tours 100% themselves, they design the lighting, stages, setlists, arrangements etc for concerts. They are hugely respected in the kpop industry and they are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. Labels used to bring trainees to Bigbang concerts when they were active to show the trainees stage presence, how to engage the audience and how to perform. ”Even if Bigbang isn’t your bias, they are your bias’ bias.” Bigbang is basically five (yes, five) very skilled, talented and charismatic soloists and when you have them in the same group as Bigbang, magic happens. The easiest way to recognize the members is to learn the voice of each member because they are so different, and they change hair color and style all the time, altough they do look very different form each other in my opinion, but voices are the safest bet (color coded videos). The members are GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Real name: Kwon Jiyong, born 1988 (high tone , a bit nasally and unique voice) TOP: Rapper, (minimal) Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, Real name: Choi Seunghyun, born 1987 (deep and low voice) Taeyang: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Real name: Dong Youngbae, born 1988 (the smooth R&B voice) Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Drummer, Real name: Kang Daesung, born 1989 (most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) (Powerful, husky voice) ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Real name: Lee Seunghyun, born 1990 (light pretty voice) Seungri left BB in 2019 due to a scandal but as he was our maknae for 13 years I'm including him here and he's in all of BB's MVs except Still Life. I'll write a different comment here about the "scandal", but all in all it was a super messy, very public and complicated witch hunt. There is A LOT of misinformation going around on this Burning Sun scandal and especially about Seungri so when reading about this be careful of the sources of the info. I would recommend going with translated official statements and not articles/tabloids (as they are 90% wrong) to get the correct idea on what happened. Seungri was the core of BB and I don't think they will make an actual comeback as Bigbang without him. Still Life was only them fulfilling a promise to us VIPs. As GD said some time ago, Bigbang will always be 5. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future. Personally, I'm hoping they will unite under their own label (maybe TOP's label?), make a comeback and give zero f**ks about what everybody says. They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other kpop groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL. Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1). BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every concert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The Band Six was put together by the request of GD and they toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café (MADE Tour), Tell Me Goodbye (Japan Dome Tour X), Candle/Fools Only Tears (Love & Hope Tour 2011), Haru Haru (acoustic version in any tour, try the Japan Dome Tour X for a japanese version) and Sober (MADE Tour with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a concert, the Japan Dome Tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones. But to fully grasp the impact they have had on the whole kpop industry and it's structure, here is a list of some things that are very normal now in kpop but what Bigbang started and changed: - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong) - First fandom name: VIP - To have actual "real" rappers in a group and not a group member who can't sing well enough and was trained to rap here and there. The first real rapline GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together from 2011). - TOP was the first underground rapper, he went by the name Tempo, a "real rapper" turned idol (turned into a successfull actor) - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group. - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (mainly GD but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype of idols. - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. - Combining different genres in one song became popular thanks to them. Like Bang bang bang. (They were not the first to do this but they made it popular) - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop. - First ones to have international collaborations (Missy Elliot, Pixie Lott, Flo Rida, Skrillex, Diplo..) - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo career. - Every group having a maknae (youngest) position. BB has two Seunghyuns, TOP and Seungri. They used to call Seungri maknae not to confuse the two with each other and now every single group has a maknae. - Khiphop community doesn’t take kpop idols seriously but GD and TOP are the only few ones who have the respect of Khiphop. - The first brand global ambassador GD with Chanel. - First high fashion brand sponsorship (GD in Heartbraker MV in 2009 with LVMH). - Huge international success before social media and streaming were a thing. - First real world tour spanning Asia, America and Europe (Alive tour 2012-2013) - First international award (MTV Europe Music Awards: Best Worldwide Act 2011) - First mini albums - They always were and are themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are and not signed to a certain role in a group. But with 4th gen now it's getting worse again. - High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP) - Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again) - The list goes on.. "BB started a revolution that made Kpop thrive to where it is today." "YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG." - Yang Hyun Suk (YG himself, the founder of YG ent.) YG ent is one of the "BIG 4" all thanks to BB. Many kpop fans doesn't seem to know this, but YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a tiny company when BB were trainees and debuted and thanks to their success (and 2NE1) they are now one of the biggest companies in South Korea (much like what happened later with BTS and BigHit that newer fans do know about). BB was responsible for over 70% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too, 2NE1 did the rest. They've had scandals over the years (some real and some not) that has caused them to have a somewhat "problematic" image especially among the younger kpop fans. But in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols. They have never cared about the clean idol image, they smoke, party, drink and date as they wish. What I personally love the most about BB is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules and squeky clean images it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions!! Already started with Tae. The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating and were friends in public, idols were more mature compared to todays idols (as a 37 year old, I prefer adult idols and a bit more mature group consepts), the comeback consepts were much more varied than they are now, no useless "scandals" over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on. They are hilarious and suprisingly relatable so variety shows are a must: Happy Together, Weekly Idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang Scout and The MADE Movie.

Here are some facts about Seungri’s ”scandal”. He was an essential part of Bigbang. It will be very different without him (if they even make an actual comeback as Bigbang without Seungri, I have my doubts). I'm still heartbroken about what happened to him. I wish he would come back but it's not likely at least for a long time. And knowing what koreans and knetz are like... not likely. It's a long and complicated story of what happened and why he left but to summarise it was a super messy and a very public witch hunt. And anti-Seungri people, please read all the way through before hating on me in the comments. I'll just give a very general story of how it went here for you: It started in early 2019 with the Burning Sun club issues (sexual harrasment in the club, money laundring etc.) and grew up to be the worst scandal ever. All the headlines were: Seungri’s club Burning Sun has done this and that, Seungri involved in this and that. Right after the the Burning Sun issues the Jung Joon Young’s chat issue rose up and the headlines were again Seungri’s chat… He got blamed for doing ugly things that weren’t true, and yes it has been proven he WAS NOT a part of JJY’s chat case of secretly photographing girls and rape, at all. The police concluded that JJY had Seungri’s number on his phone and they had been texting about a common restaurant bisnes only. All the guilty people were sent to prison already. Some reporters even made very ugly things up to get bigger and bigger headlines and were later sentenced to prison for that. It got very dark and ugly. It felt like an actual witch hunt to get Seungri’s head with more and more worse and worse headlines every day for months all just about how horribly terrible person he is. There were public appeals made for him to commit suicide... that is not ok. He was the most loved maknae one day and the next everybody hated his guts. The police started a full on investigation about everyhting about his life, work and businesses (he owned or co-owned clubs, restaurants etc) to find ANY sign or proof of his wrongdoings. The investigation was later transferred to the army prosecution as he was doing his military service. They even forced him and all of Bigbang members to have drug tests, all were negative (South Korea has VERY strict drug laws). They tried to dig up evidence against him for gambling (illegal for Korean citizens), arranging escort ladies for business partners in Japan etc for 3 years and got NOTHING. Early in 2022 he got 1,5 years in prison because he admitted to the charges (of gambling and arranging escorts in Japan, even though the escort ladies testified for Seungri's innosence). He was released in spring 2023. In South Korea the conviction rate is 99% in court cases which is absurdly high. It’s practically impossible to get an innocent verdict in a court hearing. They only care about the numbers of convictions and not if the person actually did anything. In South Korea it’s more appropiate to admit guilt whether you are guilty or not, do your time and reflect on your ”wrongdoings” and you might have a chance still in the future. So even though Seungri was adamant for the past 3 years of not addmitting guilt he was probably very tired and exhausted after all this time so it was a better option for him considering the future. The media has never cleared his name in the older issues about him so most kpop fans and koreans still think it's all him as they used his name during the scandal: Seungri's club burning sun (in reality he owned about 5% of the club’s shares, never did any management of the club and only DJ'd there sometimes), Seungri's chat (was proven by the police investigators he was not part of the chat) etc. Because it's Seungri, he was part of the most loved group by the general public and a very popular member, everybody even all the grandma’s knew who he is, and an international megastar. The shock value was enourmous. They got way more readers that way so the scandals, especially the chat scandal, were tied to him closely even though it never was him. All the while the issues some of us are certain they wanted to cover with Seungri's case are totally forgotten. The SOPA scandal before and the money laundring cases that were revealed after the Burning Sun issues, both included some very important people high up in SK. I still get so mad just thinking about this whole issue and how Seungri's life and career are ruined forever. Some people are starting to belittle Seungri's effect on Kpop while he was in Bigbang because of this. The truth is his and Bigbang’s impact on kpop was huge, they changed the whole industry to what it is now, no matter what happened after. If you are guilty you have to pay for your crimes but this very public witch hunt was way over the proportion of his crimes, which are at the level of gambling... Sorry for the long rant. I'm just mad and heartbroken about this still. Bigbang is 5. VIP Until Whenever.

Unfortunately the seungri got into serious legal trouble. I won't go into detail but he went to prison and recently got out. So BB will probably not make any comebacks...😢 They are my ultimate group and it was definitely a time being around when they released music.

There are so many misinformation in this video.. Utubers tends to spread alot of misinfo about him for views. Seungri doesn't have any victim plus all the victim came in favour of him. The real criminals are still free till date.. Even back in 2019 the police released a statement claiming he was innocent. Even the judge said they do not have enough evidence to convict him. So, basically he was a political prisoner. There are so many things to say about this case. The burning sun is basically a sum up of 3 different cases.. Even a reporter in 2023 wrote an article about the case saying people need to look into the case and prosecute the real Criminal.
