I felt so much of what you said in the beginning. I lost my 20s to acne. It absolutely consumed me, and it alone was the reason I was clinically depressed. When it went away, so did my depression. It’s insane how badly it can affect your self-worth.

Hi Cassandra, You made me a suncreen addict and a skintellectual! You are the reason why I think skincare is self care and it's okay to not feel great about your skin at all times. Thank you so much for bringing me to skincare!! ❤️ But I live in India and most of the products you review aren't available here. Could you make a series where you review Indian skincare brands and their products based on their INCI list? It would be so much helpful and informative. 😊

Laneige cream skin is legitimately one of the best products I’ve ever used! I’ve gone through many bottles, and I notice a huge change in my skin when I stop using it. It actually truly does feel hydrating and moisturizing, though I do usually still follow up with a moisturizer since my skin is dry. Totally respect it’s not for you because it’s not cruelty free - but I know for me and many others it is truly a stand out product!

Laneige cream skin refiner is actually a very phenomenon product for both dry and oily skin. Oily skin people can just skip their moisturizer and jump straight to sunscreen. It save more time and it wasn't too expensive either. For combo to dry and dehydrated skin people like me, i thank heaven for the existence of the cream skin refiner. It saved me from so much trouble. Yes, it doesn't have phenomenal active ingredients for acnes but it balances out the water-oil content in your skin. And personally for me, it help my skin to heal faster. I tried the PKY essence toner, yes it feels cosmetically elegant but it really dehydrate my skin after a couple of hours. So.... Skincare ingredients is another story but skincare formulation is a whole other story. A product can have numerous of gold standard active ingredient but still doesn't give any result at all or make your skin conditions even worse, a product without those fancy active sometimes works 1000 times better. Sometimes our skin need a reset from all those "fancy shmancy" actives. I learned this the hard way. Don't judge the ingredient list without actually testing the product. I personally thinks 33 dollars actually ok for the cream skin refiner considering how and where they sourced their ingredients, the patented technology for the white tea leaf extract formulation. Ingredient list only tell a fraction about the product. That's just my rant

The laneige one is definitely worth a try though! It doesn't feel like anything I've tried in past, it's lightweight yet thick, and it moisturizes so well, I don't think it makes any big claims but it's great at doing what it does claim, dry and/or sensitive skin people would love it.

*PLEASE READ:* I use gua sha professionally in my buisness. It's essentially the same thing as graston/astym but I use the name "gua sha" because it was taught from an Eastern medical perspective (however I was also taught the western medical perspective as well). It's not exploitative in the way I was trained because multiple cultures are doing the same thing in different ways. I just, "technically" have to say I'm doing gua sha instead of graston because as of right now because graston is only approved for a doctor to preform (I am a medical LMT). Most people think gua sha is the same as lymphatic drainage massage. But this massage uses a way different technique than gua sha. Gua sha is used to essentially, get rid of adhesions in the fascial tissue or from an Eastern perspective, remove blocked energy in the meridians through a scraping technique to the acupoints. Lymphatic drainage massage (which I'm also trained in) should be preformed extraordinarily light. Almost everyone does it with too much pressure. The channels for lymph fluid to run through are right underneath our skin and you can easily block them with anything more than a feather light pressure. Are you going to depuff some and move some lymph fluid with a harder pressure? Sure. But for most effective results it should not be done with anything other than a very gentle touch. Hydrafacials that use suction for Lymphatic drainage are different however. They can use more force because they are using suction which is "anti-pressure," creating more space in the lymph channels for lymph fluid to move. Also I think if anything is exploitative about this, it is the fact that people are using the name, "gua sha" while not actually doing gua sha. Gua sha does not refer to the tool but the technique used and results from that technique per the actual translation of the word. Sha is referring to the red speckley blood that is released when an adhesions is broken up or blocked energy is released, which you'd never see with lymphatic drainage massage. Credentials: I've been an therapeutic LMT for 5 years with extra training in Neuromuscular therapy, PIR, Orthopedic Massage, I doubled my clinic in both Eastern and Western Massage as well as many other Eastern and Western based classes.

My skin sucks. It's really hard to treat my skin because I am super dry (constantly flaky. Yes, I'm adequately hydrated!), very sensitive, and have cystic acne and regular pimples. It's horrible because so many acne treatments are either drying or irritating. Even gentle ones dry me out. It's super frustrating. 😫 I love seeing people finally getting clear skin, but I'm starting to have to come to terms with the fact I will be fine if I have acne the rest of my life... Guys... I had terrible acne for years along with terrible dry skin. The only thing that helped me was a simple routine. I wash my face with la roche posay gentle hydrating cleanser, I tone with pure rose water, while my skin is damp I use hyaluronic acid, then I go in with cerave face lotion or la roche posay lipikar balm cream. Once or twice a week I use the Versed just breathe clarifying serum. It’s super gentle and fragrance free but still helps acne. Hope this helps and just remember no matter what, you are beautiful with acne and without.

Try pantothenic acid, check out youtube reviews before trying.. I used to take 550mgx4 a day, now as maintenance just 2 capsules a day. Then of course my normal skin care routine. . Most are from The Ordinary Cleanser from Cerave, I know Cassandra don’t like the brand coz not cruelty free, but this is the only facial wash that really works on my skin Alpha arbutin+L ascorbic acid+hyaluronic acid Buffet Retinol Moisturising factor+caffeine Sunscreen during the day I use AHA-BHA once a week after a clay mask My skin has never been better, and I never wanted to try any other products. If they are red and angry I use the benton centella gel a thick layer(let it absorb like a mask). I started using la roche posay b5 balm cause it repairs the skin barrier also if the pimples are like wounds (you already pop it) use Avene cicalfate is for babies super soft (I had like two pimples it helped heal them like in 3 days) And last the cerave healing oinment on my dry areas i have tried this at night and it does not break me out.

I don't think selling those jade rollers is a terrible thing at all ..I think people can research where the original tool came from and can purchase it out of pure interest and love for said culture. Selling certain things from other cultures allows for all different types of people, cultures, and groups to enjoy those tools or routines. Everything doesn't have to be turned into evil doings.

A really similar product to Laneige is Illiyoon Ato Water Lotion and it has ceramides. When Laneige came out there was nothing like it, so I can see why it’s so loved. There’s just better now, like my HG Dr Ceuracle. I admit though, Laneige is worth a try at least once. Get the mini though! Lol

Regarding a “luxury skincare routine” for her, majority of my routine is Tatcha based, but I also have products like her from Laneige. I’ve used Cream Skin for years because it does not have actives in it. I break out with products that have fatty acid and ceramides combined-even CeraVe. It so hard to find a product that does a super job with just a few simple ingredients. It’s a watery layer of moisture that is also great to use under creams that contain HA (HA, like ceramides, became a skincare buzz word and now you can’t find a cream without iHA). Laneige, please don’t watch this video and reformulate!!!!

I feel that everybody can be proud of who they are and who they happen to turn out to look like I have two younger children and they each look different same two parents and I don’t plan to teach them that that’s an issue. I don’t really want to label them but they probably will be because of terms like this.

I tried a moisturizing spf 30+ primer based spf 50 yesterday on a full face of makeup. It didn't pill, the moisturizer prevented the foundation from looking patchy and the primer filled in my pores to give a smoother, more refined look.

I never had any acne growing up. I took great care of my skin. I used moisturizer and a gentle cleanser and SPF. But when the pandemic hit, and I wore those washable masks (I know…terrible!) and my skin took a turn for the worst. I had such painful cystic acne on my chin and jawline, all going into my 40s. I had a chemical peel in the past (twice actually) and I did them again but after seeing my dermatologist they prescribed me 2 different topical creams and spironolactone. I also used Panoxyl, did dermaplaning and now my skin is so much better. I also ditched the reusable masks and got disposable ones and changed my diet.

Here I’m at 26 having way to much acne especially on my chin. I have tried so many things (products, diets, medication) and nothing works. I live in Belgium and I can’t find dermatologist that specialise in acne. Every single one of them doesn’t listen to me and give me antibiotics that won’t help me out. I feel like it’s mostly hormonal and that mouth masks are making it even worse rn.
