I absolutely love Adam and the Ants. Adam Ant started playing live again around 2011 and he is absolutely on form! You must go see him when all this madness is over. He had to postpone an American tour because of COVID. I’m pretty sure he will be picking up the tour where he left off. I was 12 years old when Adam and the Ants burst onto our screens in the uk in 1981. I was caught hook line and sinker! Huge fan ever since! I even have my own blue Hussars jacket and we all still dress up to go see him live! If you hang around the merchandise counter it’s like being in a group of extras for pirates of the Caribbean 😂😅🤣. Happy memories x

H i Cat. The famous drum sound of the band actually came from a demo tape of some East African drummers ( known as the Burundi drummers ) given to Stuart Goddard ( Adam ) by their manager Malcolm Mclaren ( of Sex Pistols fame ) as the group were looking for inspiration and musical direction at the time. The boys in the band liked the sound , adapted it, and the rest is history !!! keep the great music coming.

I was 22 when I picked up the 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' album in 1980, so the appeal of the band at that time was obviously going somewhat beyond the young teenage audience they later courted (to great success, it must be said). Indicating the band's original darker side, the album came with a booklet replete with S&M imagery (!), and tracks such as the extraordinary - musically and lyrically - 'Killer In The Home.' It's a shame they're now largely remembered mainly for lightweight tracks such as 'Prince Charming' etc. By the way, I've been annoying my wife for years, owing to my habit of drumming the intro to this song on the dashboard of her car, whenever I'm sitting in the passenger seat.

It's got little glimpses of the scene with Billy Idol, Spandau Ballet, Marilyn, Bow Wow Wow, Malcolm McClaren, David Bowie, Stephen Strange, Culture Club all in various scenes. It's pretty good and worth it for Freddy Fox's Marilyn if nothing else. It's not the happiest of films but it gives a real sense of that era. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4qrt8STf9GtabQ.html

Love Your Music Choices .Keep Them Coming. 5 Interesting Facts about Adam Ant. 1 He played in a pub Rock Band called Bazooka Joe who in 1975 where supported by The Sex Pistols who were playing their very first gig. A fight broke out between the 2 bands later on. 2 Marco Pironni played in Siouxsie and the Banshees very first concert With Sid Vicious in 1976. 3 Nine Inch Nail covered Physical And Played Live with Adam and Marco And performed Red Scab Beat my Guest and Physical. This Can be seen on You Tube. 4 Watch the 1981 Children's Royal Variety Performance on You Tube . In this Kevin Mooney the Bassist refuses to mime and ruins the show. He left after this. It is Epic. 5 Malcolm Mclaren was hired in 1979 to give the band some Artistic Advise. He advised the rest of the band minus Adam to form a new band called Bow Wow Wow so they all left him.

@@gordonhide4539 No, Thats not right..... The original lineup of the Antz was formed in 1977, Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman and Leigh Gorman. They were the band that recorded 'Dirk Wears White Sox'. When Adam approached Malcolm and asked him to manage them (for £1000) he received some great advice (to use the pirate/Red Indian style and Burundi drums) but he also had his band stolen by McLaren and that was the lineup that became Bow Wow Wow. In 1980, Adam formed the new Ants who were Marco Pirroni, Chris Hughes, Kevin Mooney and Terry Lee Miall. It was Kevin Mooney who was playing Bass at the Royal Variety Performance in 1981 and you can see Adam's displeasure at the end of it. Kevin was immediately replaced by Gary Tibbs.

@@gordonhide4539 No problem, my fellow Ant warrior!!. You just had the band members mixed up. Lol. I never did have that bootleg but I do have a similar story. In 1981 I found out that Adam and the Ants were going to be playing the Cornwall Collesium. I went to buy a ticket but unsurprisingly, it was completely sold out. I was absolutely devastated. I decided to write to Adam to say how upset I was and that I was his biggest fan EVER (haha. I was 12/13 at the time). I looked for the best hotel in the area and found the Royal Cornwall Hotel. I put my letter to him in an envelope with a letter to the hotel asking that if by any chance Adam was going to be staying here, would they please, please, please pass my letter to him. Lo and behold, a few months later I received an envelope in the post with the Royal Cornwalls logo embossed on it!!! I nervously opened it............ inside was a hand written letter from Adam!! I nearly choked!! He told me he was sorry I missed the show this time around and hoped to see me at a later one!!! He had started it with. Dear 'ANT'ony!! I was bouncing off the walls with excitement..... Now. here's the similarity...... I showed it to too many people at school it seems......... Some horrible little git nicked it!!!!!! I'm now 52 and am still upset about it. lol Where are you Gordon? I noticed you wrote 'aye' so I'm wondering if you're a Scot?? If so, you must lookout for Let's Rock Scotland. Its a retro festival that tours the British isles (Lets Rock Essex, Lets Rock Liverpool etc..). Adam is headlining and there are many other great bands and artists playing too. It is still scheduled go ahead later this year (fingers crossed on that one, eh?) I urge you to go see him if you get the chance. Seriously, he is at the top of his game again now and puts on an incredible show!! If you get the chance to go, I promise you will not be disappointed

Martha and the Muffins. Canadian band. Haven't heard that name in a long time. Like Echo Beach, they appear to be, "far away in time." For me, Canadian bands didn't capture my attention in the 80's but I remember their names and their sounds: Martha and the Muffins Loverboy Parachute Club Platinum Blonde Glass Tiger Haywire Gowan Honeymoon Suite I know there are many more.

He did, and Adam thought it was one of his band mates have a joke with him so kept telling Micheal to go do one and put the phone down. Micheal had to get someone else to call for him to finally convince him it actually was MJ on the other end of the phone! Lol. Micheal called him to ask how he had managed to get his drums sounding so huge
