Nobody rapped like that at all before that album i mean you could argue they never did after but the closest thing was gang starr then maybe hieroglyphics or souls whichever they were first i think souls tbh but nobody had mid tempo flow + multisyllabic flow, and this entire album nas always got the same rhyme scheme 1,2,1,2,1,2 which sounds simple but the fact he said what he had to say without sounding bad in any part of the album shows he is the best at that rhyme scheme without a doubt. Top 3 facts when nas die people gonna be bandwaggoning like pac and big sadly like shaq said ppl be sleeping on nas fr, but many are slept on, one be lo Sonogram album is a close second to illmatic deadass nothing else i would consider a close second and nothing else i would consider a close third to those albums

Pseudo Nym Inspectah drops the hardest and the best opening line ever, even tho NY state of mind verse 1 is close. And time is Illmatic... no otheralbum can top this album.
They actually had professors at Harvard teach Nas's lyrical techniques to poetry classes and if that isn't a show of pure talent of wordsmithing then I don't know what is...

If Big L wasn’t murdered he would be one of the NY heavy hitters. He was nice and his flavor was 150% NY. I still bump some L from time to time. He and Nas have a similar sound

@amysewell8141

Similar was probably the wrong word to use, cuz Big L was a goon and a ladies man, he liked to spit about the females, NAS is more deep and conscientious. The similarity I was referring to was like the annunciation and prominent NY accent. The Cadence/ schemes they used are very indicative of the 90s. I agree that the style was different but the sound and delivery was dope and can’t be duplicated, that shit is bred into them

Classic ever. Even one who never been to NY can imagine how the city goes hearing this song with the cold, blue mood dawg. I am neither an african american, nor an english speaker as mother tongue, but this music has power.
Yo bro this is the golden age of rap man. Storytelling is lit we all know how you feel about mumble rappers. Bro I feel the same way mumble rappers can’t do this on their best day! Nas is one of the best lyricist in the game definitely in my top 5 DOA
His the one that influenced your rest of your top five list. his number one
Because of the producers of this album we will never see such greatness all in one Album! Awesome Reaction coach! it is so dope seeing 1.01M ! Big Congrats

Rastacypherx remember hearing that track before about in 96 then in 98/99 it hit the mainstream and was over played. Seriously seemed as if it was every other song 😂. Now I can’t stand that damn track lol if it wasn’t for that I would have to agree with you.

When you do these 90’s videos, you connect age groups and I’m actually happy to see we bop to beat together.

@@hndrxx8574 see it's much too hard to make a clear top 5 or even top 10 for rappers because of the complexity and diversity rappers used to be. I cant pick 5 in which I feel are the greatest because there are too many factors

Kyler Morningstar Yh my top 5 always changes Now its 1. Andre 3000 2. Black Thought 3. Nas 4. MF DOOM 5. Ghostface Killah
NAS is prolly the best ever. Prodigy from Mobb Deep is up there.
The way the beat simplifies when talking about being a being a high class gangsta, then life comes back to him and the beat goes back to normal. Always gives me shivers
Nas is definitely in the top 5 his rhyme schemes flow and delivery was flawless but he was a more straightforward lyricist he talked abt the struggle of the street
The Greatest MC Is? Coming Out Queens Bridge 💯 I Still Clean My House To The illmatic soundtrack....no skips no pauses...just let it play and do yo thang😂
